  • Purpose: Traditionally, information technology acceptance have been considered one of the most important research issues. However non-acceptance, which was main objective of acceptance theories, have not been included in main research area by communities of information systems. This study is to identify the factors influencing non-acceptance of information technology and suggest a total research model for explaining the phenomena of non-acceptance. Design/methodology/approach: Grounded theory was adopted as a principal research method. which is an inductive technique of interpreting qualitative data about a social phenomenon to build theories about that phenomenon. Data were collected by depth interview and open question on potential non-adopters during 3 months. The collected data were coded by two main coding paradigm in ground theory, open coding and axis coding. Findings: Factors influencing non-acceptance, status quo, imitation, value evaluation, and concerning risk were extracted from open coding. These factors were integrated into system 1 thinking and system 2 thinking, which were from axis coding. More specifically, status quo and imitation are system 1 thinking which are more responsive and emotional thinking and value evaluation and concerning risk are system 2 thinking which are more rational and reasoning thinking.

  • This study explored the appearance management experiences of breast cancer patients undergoing mastectomy. For data collection, one-on-one interviews were held with 18 Korean females diagnosed with breast cancer from the first stage to the third stage from 2008 to 2015. The data was analyzed through a three-step analysis of grounded theory. QSR NVivo 11.0 for Mac was applied in order to avoid biased results according to the subjective viewpoint of researchers. From open coding results, six paradigms and 15 categories were drawn. The results of axial coding showed that the psychological changes category was the central phenomenon. Additionally, three categories (skin changes, scalp/hair changes, and general reactions) were found to be causal conditions, and five paradigms (clothing behavior, skin care behavior, makeup behavior, scalp/hair-care behavior, and shopping behavior) were found to be action/interaction strategies. Last, selective coding integrated fragmented qualitative data through open coding and axial coding in order to derive explanatory narratives. A comprehensive examination of the appearance management behaviors of breast cancer patients suffering from extreme stress due to physical/psychological changes enables this study to provide a foundation for related studies to be activated in the clothing and textiles discipline.

  • The MPEG-4 multiple auxiliary component (MAC) is a good mechanism to achieve one-stream stereoscopic video coding. However, there is no syntax or semantics for the residual texture data of the disparity-compensated image in the current MAC. Therefore, we propose a novel disparity-compensated coding method using the MAC for stereoscopic video. We also define a novel MAC semantics in MPEG-4 so as to support the proposed coding algorithm. The major difference between the existing and proposed coding methods using the MAC is the addition of the residual texture coding.

  • We propose stereoscopic video coding method using the syntax of MAC(Multiple auxiliary component) that was added to the MPEC-4 visual version 2 in order to describe the transparency of the video object. We also define the novel MAC's semantics in MPEG-4 that should support the proposed coding method. The major difference between the existing coding method and the proposed coding method is the addition of the residual texture coding. The proposed coding method assigns disparity map and residual texture to 3 components of MAC: one component for disparity map and the rest 2 components fer the luminance and chrominance data of the residual texture, respectively. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated in terms of PSNR by computer simulations.

  • In video compression standards, the entropy coding is essential to the high performance compression because redundancy of data symbols is removed. Binary arithmetic coding is one of high performance entropy coding methods. However, the dependency between consecutive binary symbols prevents improving the throughput. For the throughput enhancement, a new probability model is proposed for encoding multi-symbols at one time. In the proposed method, multi-symbol encoder is implemented with only adders and shifters, and the multiplication table for interval subdivision of binary arithmetic coding is removed. Compared to the compression ratio of CABAC of H.264/AVC, the performance degradation on average is only 1.4% which is negligible.

  • The MPEG-4 Audio Lossless Coding (ALS) standard belongs to the family MPEG-4 audio coding standards. In contrast to lossy codecs such as AAC, which merely strive to preserve the subjective audio quality, lossless coding preserves every single bit of the original audio data. The ALS core codec is based on forward-adaptive linear prediction, which combines remarkable compression with low complexity. Additional features include long-term prediction, multichannel coding, and compression of floating-point audio material. This paper describes the basic elements of the ALS codec with a focus on prediction, entropy coding, and related tools and points out the most important applications of this standardized lossless audio format.

  • This paper propose the rule of coding for the characters and symbol, etc which are used in computer, information devices, etc. When they use the rule of coding, they may improve the efficiency of transmission in data communications by reducing the number of scrambling during the line coding in the coder in the transmitter. The paper considered the codes of two bytes(16 bits) of 4bits column ${\times}$ 4bits rows. In the paper, we applied the code system of Roman characters in KS X 1001.

  • Supporting video streaming over multi-hop wireless networks is particularly challenging due to the time-varying and error-prone characteristics of the wireless channel. In this paper, we propose a joint optimization scheme for video streaming over multi-hop wireless networks. Our coding scheme, called Joint Source/Network Coding (JSNC), combines source coding and network coding to maximize the video quality under the limited wireless resources and coding constraints. JSNC segments the streaming data into generations at the source node and exploits the intra-session coding on both the source and the intermediate nodes. The size of the generation and the level of redundancy influence the streaming performance significantly and need to be determined carefully. We formulate the problem as an optimization problem with the objective of minimizing the end-to-end distortion by jointly considering the generation size and the coding redundancy. The simulation results demonstrate that, with the appropriate generation size and coding redundancy, the JSNC scheme can achieve an optimal performance for video streaming over multi-hop wireless networks.

  • In this paper, we propose a new context-based adaptive binary arithmetic coding (CABAC) method for lossless image compression. Since the conventional CABAC in H.264/AVC was originally designed for lossy coding, it does not yield adequate performance during lossless coding. Therefore, we proposed an improved CABAC method for lossless intra coding by considering the statistical characteristics of residual data in lossless intra coding. Experimental results showed that the proposed method reduced the bit rate by 18.2%, compared to the conventional CABAC for lossless intra coding.

  • In this study, an efficient scheme for hiding data directly in partially encrypted versions of high efficiency video coding (HEVC) videos is proposed. The content owner uses stream cipher to selectively encrypt some HEVC-CABAC bin strings in a format-compliant manner. Then, the data hider embeds the secret message into the encrypted HEVC videos using the specific coefficient modification technique. Consequently, it can be used in third-party computing environments (more generally, cloud computing). For security and privacy purposes, service providers cannot access the visual content of the host video. As the coefficient is only slightly modified, the quality of the decrypted video is satisfactory. The encrypted and marked bitstreams meet the requirements of format compatibility, and have the same bit rate. At the receiving end, data extraction can be performed in the encrypted domain or decrypted domain that can be adapted to different application scenarios. Several standard video sequences with different resolutions and contents have been used for experimental evaluation.
