  • This paper proposes reservation-based multiple access with variable frame length (RMAV) which is a new multiple access scheme for indoor and outdoor wireless data communications. RMAV is based on the slot reservation scheme and adopts a frame structure with variable frame length. The frame length increases as the number of active terminals and/or the system load increases. As a result, RMAV is adapted to the changes in the traffic pattern, and it offers short delay in light load conditions and high throughput in heavy load conditions. The performance of RMAV is evaluated by simulations. In addition, it is compared with the performance of PRMA(packet reservation multiple access).

  • We propose a hybrid multiple access (HMA) for uplink orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) systems, which combines two resource sharing schemes: a scheduling-based resource allocation (SBRA) scheme and a contentionbased resource allocation (CBRA) scheme. The SBRA scheme is appropriate for non-real time high data rate traffic, and, CBRA is appropriate for near-real time low/medium data rate traffic. Thus, the proposed HMA scheme supports various types of traffic. As a CBRA scheme, our proposed random frequency hopping (RFH)-OFDMA scheme was presented. Simulation results show that the proposed HMA yields the best performance among various resource allocation schemes for uplink OFDMA systems.

  • In oceanic flight routes, HF radio and satellite data links have weather restrictions, long propagation delay and low data throughput. In this paper, we propose oceanic aeronautical communications scheme in the VHF band based on ad-hoc communication. The proposed scheme organizes autonomously a multi-hop network that is divided into multiple local network using aircraft to fly long-distance communication and supports a hybrid type of multiple access, which consists of random access and TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) scheme. In addition, several algorithms to apply spatial reuse of transmission to multi-hop long range communication environments have been proposed. The proposed system proves performance improvement on delay time as an effective solution to communicate end-to-end on the oceanic flight routes and strengthens the reliability of oceanic aeronautical communication.

  • In recent years, with the development of portable terminals, various searching services on large data have been provided in portable terminals. In order to search large data, most applications for information retrieval use indexes such as B-trees or R-trees. However, only a small portion of the data set is accessed by users, and the access frequencies of each data are not uniform. The existing indexes such as B-trees or R-trees do not consider the properties of the skewed access patterns. And a cache stores the frequently accessed data for fast access in memory. But the size of memory used in the cache is restricted. In this paper, we propose a new index based on disk, called J-tree, which considers user's search patterns. The proposed index is a balanced tree which guarantees uniform searching time on all data. It also supports fast searching time on the frequently accessed data. Our experiments show the effectiveness of our proposed index under various settings.

  • Broadcast scheme has been widely researched for efficient data delivery in the mobile environment because the downlink capacity of a mobile client is much greater than the uplink capacity, and the power of a mobile client is limited. In the proposed scheme, the index lets the client know when data items would be broadcasted and enables the client to minimize the tuning time and power consumption. Single channel index schemes are fit to flat broadcast that performs well when all the broadcasted data items are accessed with the same probability whereas the multi-disk broadcast scheme is proper when the data access distribution is skewed. The existing index schemes, however, cannot work on the Multi-disk broadcast scheme because they cannot point the replicating data items in a broadcast cycle. This paper proposes a Multi-disk Exponential Index (MDEI) which is a single channel index scheme fit to Multi-disk broadcast scheme. Because MDEI scheme organizes a separate index for each disk, it functions with multi-disk broadcast, resulting in a greater reduction of average access latency than that of other flat-broadcast index schemes when the data access distribution is skewed. The performance evaluation showed that MDEI has a good performance when data access distribution is skewed. MDEI has short average access latency and not much average tuning time when the data access distribution is skewed.

  • IEEE 802.15.6 standard, a Wireless Body Area Network, aims to transfer not only medical data but also non-medical data, such as physical activity, streaming, multimedia game, living information, and entertainment. Services which transfer those data have very various data rates, intervals and frequencies of continuous access to a medium. Therefore, an efficient anti-collision operations and medium assigning operation have to be carried out when multiple nodes with different data rates are accessing shared medium. IEEE 802.15.6 standard for CSMA/CA medium access control method distributes access to the shared medium, transmits a control packet to avoid collision and checks status of the channel. This method is energy inefficient and causes overhead. These disadvantages conflict with the low power, low cost calculation requirement of wireless body area network, shall minimize such overhead for efficient wireless body area network operations. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a medium access scheduling scheme, which adjusts the time interval for accessing to the shared transmission medium according to the amount of data for generating respective sensor node, and a priority control algorithm, which temporarily adjusts the priority of the sensor node that causes transmission concession due to the data priority until next successful transmission to ensure fairness.

  • Recently purpose is used by an crucial part to security management when collecting data about privacy. The W3C(World Wide Web Consortium) describes a standard spec to control personal data that is provided by data providers who visit the web site. But they don't say anymore about security management about personal data in transit after data collection. Recently several researches, such as Hippocratic Databases, Purpose Based Access Control and Hippocratic in Databases, are dealing with security management using purpose concept and access control mechanism after data collection a W3C's standard spec about data collection mechanism but they couldn't suggest an efficient mechanism for privacy protection about personal data because they couldn't represent purpose expression and management of purposes sufficiently. In this paper we suggest a mechanism to improve the purpose expression. And then we suggest an accesscontrol mechanism that is under least privilege principle using the purpose classification for privacy protection. We classify purpose into Along purpose structure, Inheritance purpose structure and Stream purpose structure. We suggest different mechanisms to deal with then We use the role hierarchy structure of RBAC(Role-Based Access Control) for flexibility about access control and suggest mechanisms that provide the least privilege for processing the task in case that is satisfying using several features of purpose to get least privilege of a task that is a nit of business process.

  • As blockchain technology has emerged as a security issue for IoT, technology which integrates block chain into IoT is being studied. In this paper is a research concerning token-based IoT service access control technology for data sharing, which propose a possessor focused data sharing technic by using the permissioned blockchain. To share IoT health data, a Hyperledger Fabric Network consisting of three organizations was designed to provide a way to share data by applying different access control policies centered on device owners for different services. In the proposed system, the device owner issues access control tokens with different security levels applied to the participants in the organization, and the token issue information is shared through the distributed ledger of the HFN. In IoT, it is possible to lightweight the access control processing of IoT devices by granting tokens to service requesters who request access to data. Furthmore, by sharing token issuance information among network participants using HFN, the integrity of the token is guaranteed and all network participants can trust the token. The device owners can trust that their data is being used within their authorized rights, and control the collection and use of data.

  • Many researches on the usage of shared spectrum have continuously been carried out to solve the recent frequency shortage problem and to use efficiently the spectrum without interference. Also, exponential mobile data growth and the solutions needed to address this challenge are parallel key objectives addressed in many countries. Spectrum policy innovation to meet this challenge is the ASA/LSA (Authorized Shared Access/Licensed Shared Access), which is the best access model to employ the small cell technology to meet this mobile traffic growth. Because 3.5 GHz bands is considered as the ASA/LSA frequency, in this paper, we propose the SAM(Spectrum Access Model) in 3~4 GHz bands to estimate the available ASA/LSA bands and to open more free spectrum. These results are utilized as the data to develop the SAM for the small cell and the open frequency in future.
