Detection of red tides by satellite remote sensing can be done either by detecting enhanced level of chlorophyll pigment or by detecting changes in the spectral composition of pixels. Using chlorophyll concentration, however, is not effective currently due to the facts: 1) Chlorophyll-a is a universal pigment of phytoplankton, and 2) no accurate algorithm for chlorophyll in case 2 water is available yet. Here, red band algorithm, classification and PCA (Principal Component Analysis) techniques were applied for detecting patches of Cochlodinium polykrikoides red tides which occurred in Korean waters in 1995. This dinoflagellate species appears dark red due to the characteristic pigments absorbing lights in the blue and green wavelength most effectively. In the satellite image, the brightness of red tide pixels in all the three visible bands were low making the detection difficult. Red band algorithm is not good for detecting the red tide because of reflectance of suspended sediments. For supervised classification, selecting training area was difficult, while unsupervised classification was not effective in delineating the patches from surrounding pixels. On the other hand, PCA gave a good qualitative discrimination on the distribution compared with actual observation.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the clothing image according to coloration, tone, and interval of checked pattern in color contrast. The experimental materials developed for this study were a set of stimulus and response scales. The stimuli were 24 color pictures, in which coloration(RB: Red+Blue, YP: Yellow+Purple), tone(light, dull, dark), and interval(0.5 cm, 1.5 cm, 3.5 cm, 5.5 cm) were manipulated. The 7-point scale was used for evaluation of clothing image. Data were obtained from 240 female college students living in Seoul, Gwangju, Jinju, and Masan on May 2010. For data analysis, ANOVA and Duncan-test were used by using SPSS program. Results of this study were as follows.; Clothing image according to coloration, tone, and interval of checked pattern consisted of five dimensions of attractiveness, freshness, appeal, modesty, and activity. Coloration showed an independent effect on attractiveness and appeal. Tone showed an independent effect on freshness, appeal, and modesty. Interval showed an independent effect on freshness. Also, interaction effects of coloration and tone on appeal were found. Interaction effects of coloration and interval on modesty were found.

The purpose of the study was to investigate weaving, traditional dyeing, fiber material, pattern how carpet developing according to Turkey area for using the data that can rear to the export strategic industry for carpet production and development that is correct in culture. The result are followed: 1) Life of the age was expressed in color and pattern using according to geographical environment, climate, lifestyle, religion etc. 2) In the case of weaving, there is Kilim, Soumak that appears only weft on the surface as plane weaving without knot and carpet of knotted pile weaving and knot of carpet is duplex knot difference with carpet of the other country. 3) In the case of textile material, there is use most wool fiber that can get easily from breeded sheep by nomads. 4) In the case of dyeing, did the local traditional color to use dye extracting in dyeing material that can get easily in the area. Red that can extract in madder that can get easily in which area of Turkey, dark navy blue of indigo dye that indigo plant fermentation and cream beige that is wool's natural color were exposed representative traditional color of Turkey carpet. 5) Pattern was advanced uniquely as culture of the area; weaving person's sensitivity and desire are reflected through centuries. Amulet, riches & honors, fecundity and happiness appeared most pattern in any area.
Cadmium telluride(CdTe) nanowires were successfully synthesized from individual nanoparticles via self-assembly and the evolutionary process was investigated. The oxidation of tellurium ions on CdTe nanoparticles resulted in the organization of individual nanoparticle into twisted-nanoribbons. The nanoparticles self-assembled to twisted ribbons under light while nanoparticles under dark transformed to straight nanowires made of several layers of individual nanoparticles. The images of nanoribbons were analysed based on transmission electron microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The photoluminescence was blue-shifted from 555 to 545nm.
In Korea, the guideline for the bridge safety inspection requests to assess surface degradation, including crack, efflorescence, spalling, and so on, for the rating of concrete bridges. Currently, the assessment of efflorescence is performed based on the visual inspection of expertized engineers, which may result in subjective inspection result. In this study, a novel method using a hyperspectral camera is proposed for objective and accurate assessment of concrete efflorescence. The hyperspectral camera acquires the light intensity for a number of continuous spectral bands of light for each pixel in an image, which makes the hyperspectral imaging technique provides more detailed information than a color camera that collects intensity for only three bands corresponding to RGB (red, green, and blue) colors. A stepwise assessment algorithm is proposed based on the spectral features to decompose efflorescence area from the inspected concrete area. The algorithm is tested in the laboratory test using two concrete specimens, one of which is dark colored with efflorescence on a surface while the other is bright concrete without efflorescence. The test shows high accuracy and applicability of the proposed efflorescence assessment using a hyperspectral camera.
Collections in the buddhist statue owned by Dr. Jong-Hm Baik(白宗欽) included 3 ancient documents and 2 wooden cylinders that showed a clear historical order. The temple and buddhist statue that these objects were belonged to were not known, however, according to the document, it could be inferred as Chunsukwaneumsang(천수관음상) created in 1322 and reformed in 1614 from the list of donator for the statue. Inside a wooden cylinder, a bundle of ivory, yellow, green, orange, and dark brown fabrics that were folded up and tided up with 5 different colored thread strands and aromatic trees and rice plant was placed on the bottom. All the fabrics were silk. Three thread strands were silk. The white and blue strands were cotton fibers as a result of analysis of IR spectrum and the microscope. According to a radioactive carbon isotope dating by accelerator mass spectroscopy, years before present was 160$\pm$40, and cablibrated ages were 1680-1890 (79.3$\%$), 1910-1960(16.1$\%$) in 95.4$\%$ probability. Accordingly, the fabrics in the buddhist statue proved to be reformed in 1614 not the original ones in 1322.

Surface plasmon resonance is the enhancement of electromagnetic wave caused by oscillation on the metal and dielectric interfaces. Surface plasmons with nanohole arrays provides an enhancedresonance for the specific wavelengths of interests. Asymmetric array of nanoscale structures can enable orientation dependent shift of resonance wavelengths when combined with the control of polarization for incident visible light, thus providing color tunability. Appropriate lattice constants along the direction of polarization in rectangular nanohole arrays can determine the resonance condition generating red (R), green (G), and blue (B) colors and potentially be applied to display applications. In ourprevious report, we have optimized the ion beam nanomachining conditions to fabricate the nanostructures on the metal film. We apply the fabrication conditions to make nanoscale hole arrays using 100 nm thick gold layer on the glass substrate with the optimal design of periodicities along x, y, and diagonal directions of a=440 nm, b=520 nm, c=682 nm, and the hole diameter of d=200 nm. Using the reflective light in dark field mode of optical microscope, we can observe different colors. When the polarizer is paralleled along a, b, or c direction, the represented color is changed to R, G, and B, respectively. We further map the color using i1 to correlate the conditions of the nanohole arrays with their characteristic color.
The operational aerosol retrieval algorithm for the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) measurements was recently updated and named collection 6 (C6). The C6 MODIS aerosol algorithm, a substantially improved version of the collection 5 (C5) algorithm, uses an enhanced aerosol optical thickness(AOT) retrieval process consisting of new surface reflection and aerosol models. This study reports on the estimation and validation of the two latest versions, the C5 and C6 MODIS aerosol products over the East Asian region covering $20^{\circ}N$ to $56^{\circ}N$ and $80^{\circ}E$ to $150^{\circ}E$. This study also presents a comparative validation of the two versions(C5 and C6) of algorithms with different methods(Dark Target(DT) and Deep Blue (DB) retrieval methods) from the Terra and Aqua platforms to make use of the Aerosol Robotic Network (AERONET) sites for the years 2000-2016. Over the study region, the spatially averaged annual mean AOT retrieved from C6 AOT is about 0.035 (5%) less than the C5 counterparts. The linear correlations between MODIS and AERONET AOT are R = 0.89 (slope = 0.86) for C5 and R = 0.95 (slope = 1.00) for C6. Moreover, the magnitude of the mean error in C6 AOT-the difference between MODIS AOT and AERONET AOT-is 40% less than that in C5 AOT.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of eyeshadow color (brown, purple, and blue), lipstick color (red, orange, and purple), and lipstick tone(vivid, light, dull, and dark) on the makeup image. The experimental materials used for this study were sets of stimulus and response scales (7 point semantic). The stimuli were 36 color pictures manipulated with the combination of eyeshadow color, lipstick color, and lipstick tone using computer simulation. The subjects were 216 female undergraduates living in Jinju city. The data was analyzed by using SPSS program. Analyzing methods were ANOVA and Duncan test. The result of this study are as follows. Image factor of the stimulus was composed of 4 different components (attractiveness and gracefulness, visibility, cuteness, and softness), Among them, the attractiveness and gracefulness and the visibility were important. Each dimensional image was affected by color coordination of eyeshadow color, lipstick color and lipstick tone. Therefore, the face image through matching eyeshadow and lipstick could be varied by the eyeshadow color, lipstick color and tones.
A 51 year old man was admitted to the Thoracic and Cardiovascular Department of Kyungpook University Hospital on April 7, 1976, with chief complaints of orthopnea and the chest pain for about 3 months. Physical examination showed narrow pulse pressure, puffy face, engorged neck veins at sitting position, distant heart sound, enlarged liver and edematous upper extremities. The chest roentgenogram demonstrated markedly enlarged cardiac silhouette. Low voltage and the low to diphagic T`s were noted on the electrocardiogram. Paroxysmal ventricular tachycardia was developed intermittently and was subsided spontaneously. Repeated pericardiocentesis were performed each of which yielded from 100 to 300ml. but intractable cardiac failure was progressed. The bacteriology and cytology of the pericardial fluid were not revealed any specific findings. The pericardiectomy was performed to release the intractable cardiac tamponade. Pericardium was found to be thickened and cardiac constriction was noted. The thickened pericardium was easily removed. A large hen`s egg sized dark blue tumor mass occupied the anterior wall of the right atrium and two thumb tip sized pearl gray tumors were placed at the just below portion of the main pulmonary artery. The biopsy report revealed primary fibrosarcoma of the heart. The patient was improved from the symptoms of the cardiac failure during the postoperative course.
