Physical properties of composite resins such as strength, resistance to wear, discoloration, etc, depend on the degree of conversion of the resin components. The clinical behavior of restorative resins varies brand to brand. Part of this variation is associated with the filler and differences in the polymer matrix. The polymer matrix of resins may differ because the involved monomers are dissimilar and because of variation in the catalyst system. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the degree of conversion of the composite resins according to the depth of cure and light curing time. 7mm diameter cylindrical aluminum molds were filled with each of five different hybrid light curing composite resins(Z-100, Charisma, Herculite XRV, Prisma TPH, Veridonfil) on the thin resin films. The molds were 1mm, 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, and 5mm in depth to produce resin films of various heights. Each sample was given 20sec, 40sec, and 60sec illumination with a light source. The degree of conversion of carbon double bonds to single bonds in the resin films was examined by means of Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer. The results were obtained as follows; 1. There was difference in the degree of conversion among five light curing composite resins according to the depth of cure for 20sec, 40sec, and 60sec illumination with light source with statistical significance(P<0.05). 2. Five light curing composite resins show lower degree of conversion at surface of the resin than depth of 1mm. 3. The degree of conversion of five light curing composite resins was siginificantly reduced from the maximum for the resin film when the light passed through as little as 1mm of each composite. 4. The degree of conversion of five light curing composite resins decrease significantly at the depth of 4mm, and polymerization was not occured at the depth of 5mm except for Prisma TPH. 5. The degree of conversion of five light curing composite resins was increased with increased light curing time, and there was no significant differences in the degree of conversion above 4mm in Z-100, 3mm in Charisma, and at depth of 5mm in Herculite XRV and Veridonfil(P>0.05).

This study is a basic study on carbonation curing technology of concrete using supercritical CO2, and carbonation curing was carried out by exposing concrete to supercritical CO2 for a certain period of time. In the case of conventional carbonation curing, long-term curing was performed for several weeks by controlling the concentration of CO2, but by using supercritical CO2, more rapid carbonation curing was carried out using constant temperature and pressure conditions to improve durability through surface modification of concrete. This experiment was conducted with the goal of deriving the optimal carbonation curing conditions by measuring the carbonation depth by exposing concrete for a certain period of time to conditions above the supercritical level. As a result, it was confirmed that the carbonation depth increased as the curing time increased, and the curing time could be shortened compared to the carbonation curing according to the existing CO2 concentration.
The degree of conversion of composite resin was known to have influence on the mechanical properties of composite materials such as hardness, strength, wear resisitance, dimensional and color stability. Also unreacted monomer was reported to be harmful to the pulp. So the degree of conversion was a very important factor in the success of composite resin restorations. In recent, the dual cure resin cement was developed with the advocations that it could increase the curing rates in the sites where the curing ligt could not reach. Moreover many manufactors added some adhesive components in the resin cement. This study was undertaken to observe the effects of curing depth and light curing times on the degree of conversion of dual cure resin cements. CR INLAY CEMENT, DUAL CEMENT and OPTEC BOND, by the Fourier transform Infrared analysis, changing the curing depth 1mm, 2mm and 3mm, and varying the light curing time 20 seconds, 40 seconds and 80 seconds at each depth. The cytotoxicity of dual cure resin cements was tested by the in vitro MTT method using L929 cell. The results was evaluated and compared statistically. The results were obtained as follows : 1. The dual cure resin cements reavealed various degree of conversion, CR INLAY CEMENT and DUAL CEMENT had a tendency to be more reactive to the light cure and OPTEC BOND was a more chemical one. 2. CR INLAY CEMENT and DUAL CEMENT showed the lowest degree of conversion in 2 mm depth, and in 3mm depth the degree of conversion increased, which were due to the chemical cure of dual cures, but OPTEC BOND showed decreasing degree of conversion with increasing curing dept h and all experimental groups showed lower degree of conversion than CHEMICAL group which cured in dark room with no light, so the weak light-curing of dual cure resin cement prevented the chemical cure. (P<0.05) 3. CR INLAY CEMENT and DUAL CEMENT showed increasing degree of conversion in 1 mm and 3 mm, according to the increasing cure times, but in 2 mm depth the degree of conversion decreased with increasing light-curing times and OPTEC BOND showed contrary tendency, but there was no ststistical importance in the differences among the experimental group.(P>0.05) 4. The optical density by MTT assay of extractions of CR INLAY CEMENT, DUAL CEMENT and OPTEC BOND revealed no statitically important differences comparing with optical density of negative control.(P>0.05) 5. CR INLAY CEMENT showed a tendency of increaing cytotoxicity with days and DUAL CEMENT and OPTEC BOND showed higher cytotoxicity in 2 days than in 4 days, but there was no statistical importance in the differences.(P>0.05).

In the microstereolithography which can make 3-D microstructures, curing depth is different according to exposure energy. Curing depth has to be controlled to fabricate complex 3-D microstructures with overhang shape. It becomes increases when the exposure energy increases. And photocurable resin is cured when the exposure energy is bigger than critical energy. So optimal exposure energy has to be found to fabricate overhang structures without being gel. To make thinner layer, UV absorber is used and exposure pattern is changed. In this paper, we find curing characteristics according to exposure energy, and fabricate microstructures with overhang shape.
Polymerization of light-activated restorations results in temperature increase caused by both the exothermic reaction process and the energy absorbed during irradiation. Within composite resin, temperature increases up to 2$0^{\circ}C$ or more during polymerization. But, insulation of hard tissue of tooth lowers this temperature increase in pulp. However, many clinicians are concerned about intrapulpal temperature injury. The purpose of this study was to evaluate temperature changes in the pulp according to various restorative materials and bases during curing procedure. Caries and restoration-free mandibular molars extracted within three months were prepared Class I cavity of 3$\times$6mm with high speed handpiece fissure bur. 1mm depth of dentin was evaluated with micrometer in mesial and distal pulp horns. Pulp chambers were filled with 37.0$\pm$0.1$^{\circ}C$ water to CEJ. Chromium-alumina thermocouple was placed in pulp horn below restorative materials for evaluating of temperature changes. This thermocouple was connected to temperature-recording device(Multiplication analyzer MX, 6.000, JAPAN). Temperature changes was evaluated from initial 37.$0^{\circ}C$ after temperature changes to 37.$0^{\circ}C$. Tip of curing unit was placed in the center of prepared cavity separated 1mm from restorative materials. Curing time was 40s. The restorative materials were used with Z 100, Fuji II LC, Compoglass flow and bases were used with Vitrebond, Dycal. Resrorative materials were placed in 2mm. The depth of bases were formed in 1mm and in this upper portion, resin of 2mm depth was placed. This procedure was performed 10 times. The results were as follows. 1. All the groups showed that the temperature in pulp increased as curing time increased 2. The temperature increase of glass ionomer was significantly higher than that of Resin and Compomer during curing procedure (P<0.05). 3. The temperature increase in glass ionomer base was significantly higher than that of Calcium hydroxide base during Resin curing procedure (P<0.05).
The purpose of this study was to assess the effects of wavelength and intensity of light curing units on the curing of composite resin. The wavelength and intensity of nine units were evaluated with Optical Multichannel Analyzer and Radiometer. Two-part split stainless steel mold with a cylindrical hole-3.0mm in diameter, 6.0mm in hgieht-was prepared. After placing a Mylar strip between two parts, 100 specimens were made by inserting each of four composite resins into the mold and irradiating for 20 seconds with five light units alternatively. The curing depths were measured by scraping method and evaluated by two-way ANOVA. And Vicker's hardness measurements were made on the longitudinally sectioned surface at 0.5mm interval. The results were as follows: 1. Visilux 2 showed a narrow spectral band within the effective wavelength in initiating polymerization and the highest intensity. Translux showed the diffuse spectrum of wavelength and the lower light intensity. 2. Visilux 2 showed the highest curing effect in any composite resin and then followed by Optilux, Efos 35, Heliomat and Translux. (p < 0.01) 3. Durafill showed the deepest curing depth in any light unit and then followed by Bisfil M, Silux and Heliosit. (p < 0.01). 4. Maximum hardness values showed 0.1mm and 0.5mm under top surface and then gradually decreased with depth.

This study evaluated the mechanical properties and microstructure of calcium silicate cement based paste according to carbonation curing conditions. As a result, both compressive strength and carbonation depth increased with the carbonation curing period.
Due to seawater's physical and chemical deterioration effects on concrete structures, it is crucial to investigate the durability of these structures in marine environments. In some conditions, concrete structures are exposed to seawater from the first days of construction or because of the lack of potable water, part of the concrete curing stage is done with seawater. In this research, the effects of exposure to seawater after 7 days of curing in standard conditions were evaluated. To improve the durability of concrete, fly ash has been used as a substitute for a part of the cement in the mixing design. For this purpose, 5, 15, and 30% of the mixing design cement were replaced with type F fly ash, and the samples were examined after curing in seawater. The resistance of concrete against chloride ion penetration based on the rapid chloride penetration test (RCPT), water permeability based on the depth of water penetration under pressure, and water absorption test was done. The changes in the compressive strength of concrete in different curing conditions were also investigated. The results show that the curing in seawater has slightly reduced concrete resistance to chloride ion permeation. In the long-term, samples containing FA cured in seawater had up to 10% less resistance to chloride ion penetration. The amount of reduction in chloride ion penetration resistance was more for samples without FA. Whiles, for both curing conditions in the long-term up to 15%, FA improved the chloride ion penetration resistance up to 40%. Curing in seawater slightly increased the penetration depth of water under pressure in samples containing FA, while this increase was up to 12% for samples without FA. In the long-term the compressive strength of samples cured in seawater is not much different from the compressive strength of samples cured in plain water, while at the age of 28 days, due to seawater salts' accelerating effects the difference is more noticeable.
Background: Dental caries prevention is a key research focus in dentistry, requiring advancements in the formulation of dental sealants. This study investigated the physical and antibacterial attributes of dental sealant enriched with phytoncide. Methods: Phytoncide was mixed with a commercially available dental sealant (Clinpro) at concentrations of 0 (control), 1.5%, 3%, and 4.5% by weight (wt%). The flexural strength, curing depth, and wettability of the dental sealant were measured. Antibacterial properties against Streptococcus mutans were evaluated through the enumeration of colony-forming units. Statistical analyses employed one-way variance analysis followed by Tukey's test (p<0.05). Results: The dental sealant containing 3% phytoncide showed no significant difference in flexural strength and curing depth compared with that in the control group (p>0.05). The flexural strength and curing depth decreased with increasing phytoncide content and significantly differed in sealant containing 4.5 wt% phytoncide (p<0.05). Wettability did not differ between the experimental and control groups (p>0.05). The antibacterial properties of the sealant containing 1.5% phytoncide were the same as those of the control group (p>0.05). The bacterial viability was significantly reduced in groups containing 3% and 4.5% phytoncide compared with that in the control group (p<0.05). Conclusion: Dental sealants incorporating phytoncide have a promising potential as antibacterial dental materials.
