Decision Tree Analysis for Prediction Model of Poverty of The Older Population in South Korea

  • This study aims to investigate factors that affect elderly poverty based on a comprehensive and universal perspective, suggesting some alternatives for improving the poverty rate of the elderly. The comprehensive and universal approach to the poverty of the aged that this study attempts can give a better understanding of the elderly poverty beyond the contribution of the existing literature, with the research model including individual, family, labor, and income factors as the causes of old-age poverty from the comprehensive and universal perspective on the causes of poverty of the elderly. In addition, the study attempts to input variants of variables into the equation for the causes of elderly poverty by using panel data from the 8th Korean Retirement and Income Study. This study employs decision tree analysis to determine the cause of the poverty of the elderly using CHAID. The decision tree analysis shows that the most vital variable affecting elderly poverty is making income. For the poor elderly without earned income, public pensions, educational careers, and residential areas influence elderly poverty, but for the poor elderly with earned income, wage earners and gender are variables that affect poverty. This study suggests some alternatives to improve the poverty rate of the aged. The government should create a better working environment such as senior re-employment for old people to be able to participate in economic activities, improve public pension or social security for workers with unfavorable conditions for public security of old age, and give companies that create employment of the aged diverse incentives.

현대 일본 패션에 내재한 반꾸밈 미학 (Anti-decoration Culture in Contenaporary Japanese Fashion)

  • The Purpose of this study is to search the characteristics of aesthetic sense from the spiritual root of anti-decoration culture in contemporary Japanese fashion and find the aesthetic meanings inside contemporary Japanese fashion. This study considered contemporary Japanese fashion design from 1970 to 2000 to figure out the anti-decoration culture in contemporary Japanese fashion. The contents of this study are 1. surveying the historical change about the aesthetic sense of Japanese anti-decoration culture. 2. deducing the distinctive aesthetic ideology from the anti-decoration culture 3. finding aesthetically the inside meaning of anti-decoration culture in contemporary Japanese fashion. The conclusion on this study is as the followings. Anti-decoration culture has three aesthetic ideology. First, faintful aesthetics implies the aesthetic ideologies of Wabi, Sabi from Heian period and it appears the aesthetic sense to be natural beauty. simplicity, minimalism and temperance. Second, ambivalence aesthetics is based on nothingness and has the characteristic of multivocal and variableness without biased view. Third. playful aesthetics has the meaning of humorous. witty and mischievous which is the basic factor of Japanese formative arts. The aesthetic range of this study are the beauty of simplicity. poverty, incompletion, vagueness and humor. First, beauty of simplicity is composed of minimal lines and area through strict temperance and elimination. Second, beauty of poverty came from the aesthetic concept of Wabi which means honorable poverty and plainness. Third, beauty of incompletion means emptiness which is within the range of possibility. Forth, beauty of vagueness could be explained as incorporeal, colorlessness and voiceless. Fifth, Okashi which was the middle ages in Japan, shows the vein of humor in anti-decoration culture. As a result, anti-decoration culture does not mean the opposite of decoration culture, but accomplishes extreme artificial beauty by strict temperance and elimination. Also it is concerned as intentional poverty of decorative effect.

다차원적 아동빈곤 경험이 아동발달에 미치는 영향에 대한 질적연구 (Effect of Multi-dimensional Child Poverty Experience on Child Development: A Qualitative Study)

  • 본 연구는 한국복지패널에 연계된 질적패널 중 성인 19명과 아동 20명에 대한 심층 면접을 실시하여, 빈곤가구의 아동빈곤의 경험에 대한 다차원적인 범주 분석을 실시하고, 빈곤경험이 아동발달에 미치는 영향과 의미를 현상학적 주제분석으로 제시하였다. 특히 본 연구는 상대적 박탈감에 초점을 두고, 빈곤화 과정, 주거, 건강, 교육, 양육, 문화, 가족, 아동의 꿈 차원에서 드러나는 빈곤 경험을 내부자 관점에서 기술하고, 빈곤 경험을 아동발달 관점에서 발견적이고 해석적으로 기술하였다. 연구결과 아동기의 빈곤경험은 트라우마, 성장과 기회의 박탈, 애어른, 빈곤의 대물림, 꿈의 제한이라는 부정적인 아동발달 경험과 결부되어있었다. 이러한 내부자 시각에 기반한 질적 연구는, 다차원적 아동빈곤 경험에 대한 깊이 있는 이해와 대상 밀착형 정책수요를 가능하게 하여, 빈곤 정책연구 외연 확장에 기여할 수 있다.

빈곤문화실태에 대한 탐색적 연구 - 긴급구호시설 종사자들을 대상으로 - (An Explorative Study on the Culture of Poverty)

  • 본 연구는 우리 사회 내의 빈곤문화 실태에 대한 기초자료를 생산하는데 그 일차적 목적을 두고 있다. 이러한 목적에 따라 긴급구호시설의 종사자들을 대상으로 하여 빈곤의 한계상황에 처해 있는 대표적 집단으로서 정부에서 일시 긴급구호사업의 대상으로 규정하고 있는 노숙자들과 쪽방생활자 그리고 부랑인들에게 있어서 빈곤문화실태는 어떠한 지를 파악하고, 이들이 빈곤상황에서 탈피하여 심리적 자립과 자활의욕을 고취하기 위해서는 어떠한 사회복지서비스가 필요한지에 대해 조사해 보았다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 긴급구호시설 종사자의 긴급구호서비스 대상자에 대한 인식은 가족적 특성을 제외하고는 평균적으로 보통정도나 보통이하로, 비교적 부정적이었다. 그리고 서비스대상자와의 관계에 대한 인식은 보통이상의 긍정적 경향이 크게 나타났다. 이 결과를 통해 긴급구호서비스 대상자들에게서 빈곤문화의 존재가능성을 유추해 볼 수 있으며, 이에 대한 심리적 재활 프로그램들을 강화해야 할 필요성이 제시되었다.

아르떼 포베라(Arte Povera)가 현대패션에 미친 조형적 특징에 관한 연구 (A Study on the normativeness of Modern Fashion through Arte Povera)

  • This study was established to understand how Arte Povera has affected the contemporary fashion based on the analyses of its characteristics and may provide a prospective view to predict style of future fashions. The results were as follows : 1) “The poverty” shows such characteristics as patch work, intentional mismatch, and tendency to prefer slightly used style. This meaning can be explained as direct expression from a sense of alienation, against to consumer economy, and dual-expression between poverty and wealth. 2) “Anti-formativeness” can be described for misinterpretations of creation, arrangement, and informal silhouette due to distortion of the human body. This expression includes such meanings as against to traditionalism, ignorance of rationality, and disorganization of the concepts between the beauty and the ugly. 3) “Naturalism” indicates as characteristics of use of natural materials and primitive expression. This expression could be generated from adaptation to the nature and desire toward uncivilized society due to skepticism about modern society. 4) “Symbolism” shows such expressions as an isolated feeling from society, and metaphoric sense from specific situations because there are too many applications of imported materials. This tendency can be also explained with the creations of spaces for opened concepts through disorganizations of territory, obscurity, and irregularity.

저소득층 가계의 경제구조 분석: 경제적 복지를 위한 정책 제언 (An Analysis on the Economic Structures of Low-income Households: Policy Suggestion for Their Economic Well-being)

  • 본 연구는 저소득층 가계의 소득구조, 자산구조 및 지출구조의 경제구조를 분석하고, 이를 토대로 저소득층 가계의 경제적 복지를 위한 정책을 제언하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 2009년도 한국복지패널조사(KOWEPS) 자료를 토대로 실증분석을 실시하였다. 실증분석 결과, 소득구조의 경우, 저소득층 가계는 근로소득, 사업·부업소득 및 재산소득 규모가 적었고, 이전소득 규모는 컸다. 한편 저소득층 가계는 사적이전소득 규모가 적었고, 공적이전소득 규모는 컸다. 저소득층 가계는 이전소득 비중이 가장 많았고, 공적이전소득 비중이 사적이전소득 비중보다 많았으며, 공적이전소득 중 정부보조금 비중이 가장 많았다. 극빈곤층 가계는 근로소득, 금융소득 및 사적이전소득 규모가 가장 작은 반면에, 공적이전소득 규모가 가장 컸고, 빈곤층 가계는 이전소득 규모가 가장 작았다. 극빈곤층, 빈곤층 및 차상위층 가계 모두 이전소득 비중이 가장 높았다. 자산구조의 경우, 모든 자산종류에서 저소득층 가계는 그 규모가 작았지만 특히, 금융자산 및 기타자산 규모가 작았다. 자산종류별 구성비는 저소득층 가계는 총부채 비중이 가장 높았고, 주택자산 비중은 높은 반면에 부동산자산, 기타자산 및 금융자산 비중은 낮았다. 모든 자산종류에서 극빈곤층 가계가 차상위층 가계에 비해 그 규모가 작았다. 세 가계집단 모두 주택자산 비중이 가장 높았지만, 그 중 극빈곤층 가계의 비중이 가장 높았다. 지출구조의 경우, 모든 지출비목에서 저소득층 가계는 그 규모가 작았다. 저소득층 가계는 식료품 비중이 가장 컸고, 그 다음으로 기타소비 비중이었다. 대부분의 지출비목에서 차상위층 가계보다 극빈곤층 가계의 지출 규모가 작았으나, 월세 규모는 극빈곤층 가계가 빈곤층 가계나 차상위층 가계보다 컸다. 세 가계집단 모두 식료품 비중이 가장 컸고, 그 다음이 기타소비였다. 한편 식료품, 월세 및 광열수도 비중은 극빈곤층 가계가 차상위층 가계보다 높았다.

노인되기와 빈곤 -빈곤 궤적의 연령집단 차이를 중심으로 (Aging and Poverty -Focusing on Age Group Differences in Poverty Trajectories-)

  • 본 연구는 동태적 관점에서 중·고령자의 노인기로의 이행과정에서 다차원 빈곤의 변화 궤적을 살펴보고 이에 대한 영향요인을 확인하는 것이다. 한국복지패널(2006년~2018년) 자료를 활용하여, 2006년 만 55세 이상 중·고령자 중 예비노인과 전기노인 집단별로 13년간의 다차원 빈곤 변화 궤적을 잠재성장모형을 통해 살펴보았다. 다차원 빈곤은 경제(소득, 고용), 환경(주거), 건강, 사회문화(여가, 가족관계, 사회적 관계) 등 4영역에서 7가지 차원으로 구분하였다. 분석결과, 다차원 빈곤 궤적은 시간의 흐름에 따라 그 수준이 감소하는 것으로 나타났으며, 전체적인 빈곤 수준은 전기노인이 예비노인과 전체 평균보다 높은 것으로 확인되었다. 독립변수를 투입한 조건모형 분석결과 예비노인은 배우자유무와 교육수준, 전기노인은 성별과 교육수준 순으로 빈곤 변화에 영향을 미치는 변수가 상이한 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 다차원 빈곤은 점차 개선되고 있으나, 연령집단별로 변화율 및 영향을 미치는 변수가 다르므로, 노후빈곤 대책 마련 시 연령 집단별 특성이 고려되어야 할 것이다.

한국 음식 속담에 대한 음식 윤리적 접근 (Food Ethics Approach to Korean Food Proverbs)

  • This study was performed to approach Korean food proverbs from the stance of food ethics. Both modern principles and traditional principles of food ethics were applied to select proverbs. The modern principles include a respect for life, justice, environmental preservation, and the priority of safety. The traditional principles were longevity and good health, poverty (escaping) and wealth (pursuing), eating luck and fortune, priority of food, virtue, and taste and quality (economics). All the principles except environmental preservation and the priority of safety have adequate food proverbs, since environmental disruption and food safety were not serious issues in the past.

카디 운동을 통해서 본 복식의 의미에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Significance of the Costume with Khadi Campaign)

  • This study is to reconsider the symbolic potential of the costume by investigating the role of cloth in Indian culture, noting the fact that Indians wore hand-woven cloth and adopted a flag with the spinning wheel in the center as part of their nationalistic programs for independence. The results are as follows; The Indian cotton industry had held the fist position in the world and spinning and weaving had been an Indian national industry until the early part of the 19th century. As for the Indian cotton industry under the rule of Britain, Indian was reduced to being a colony producing raw materials and a market of cheap British finished goods, and eventually fell into anarchy with economic poverty of the general public and peasants'uprising mixed with the complaint of the intellectuals. The Indian National Movement started as a resort to escape the British rule because of continuous poverty and social exhaustion, and its pivot was Gandhi. Gandhi launched a revolutionary noncooperation movement in Indian society with diverse races, religions and castes, and developed nation-wide campaigns such as Boycott, Swadeshi, the encouragement of spinning wheels, etc. Gandhi urged that Indians' weak identity and poverty were caused by the dissolution of their native craft and that the Indians should wear Indian products for economic independence. Accordingly, leaders of Indian National Congress regarded a spinning wheel as an economic necessity and national symbol, and approved manual spinning and weaving as part of their nationalistic programs in order to drew the general public to the nationalistic movement in 1920. They also decided that all Congressmen should wear hand-woven cloth, Khadi, and adopted spinning wheels as the logo type of Indian National Congress. Khadi, Indian national cloth, was a symbol of national unification, freedom and equality, and also a means of economic self-sufficiency, Swadeshi, and eventually led India to autonomy, Swaraji. Therefore, it can be concluded that the cloth converted Indias economic and political identity.

21세기 패션에 나타난 그런지 룩의 표현특성 (Characteristics of the Grunge Look in 21st century fashion)

  • This study intended to analyze the grunge look as a mode of expression and as a characteristic of the fashion of the 21st century, arguing that the look expressed not only an outward appearance or sub-culture but also a change in our attitude and spirit about contemporary fashion. In the study, I carried out an empirical analysis focused on the collection from 2001S/S to 2010F/W and a literature review. In my results, I classified the grunge look into the following categories: 1. mix and match layering; 2. patchwork, collages, and assemblage using all objects as well as clothing materials; and 3. distressing techniques, such as bleaching and dyeing, unweaving, and tears and holes. I also classified the characteristics of grunge into the following categories: 1. conspicuous destitution, which is intentionally expressed by skillful techniques and craftsmanship, indicating that modern people want to attract attention and be distinguished from others, which reflects an attitude of superiority through ironic fashion choices; 2. high lighting the dissolution of decoration, where destruction, poverty and recombination shown in the grunge look emerged as an artificial and intentional ugly aesthetic in contrast to the existing elegant and sophisticated image; and 3. satire and playfulness, as grunge expresses alienation and conflict in modern society through satire and sarcasm, not attacking or avoiding, but through playful and sarcastic engagement so as to decrease poverty and give temporary freedom.
