This thesis attempts to investigate the design of the bracket sets(eave-supporters) of Dapo-style architecture(multiple-bracket architecture) in order to discover the change and the characteristic of the Yon-Hwa-Hyong bracket sets. The external shape of eave-supporters has been evolved as following order: Kyo-Du-Hyong, Soe-Seo-Hyong, Cho-Gak-Soe-Seo-Hyong, and Yon-Hwa-Soe-Seo-Hyong. The internal shape has been developed as following order: Kyo-Du-Hyong. Cho-Gak-Hyong and Yon-Hwa-Hyong. Kyo-Du-Hyong represents the 17th century style and Yon-Hwa-Hyong has been used since the mid 18th century. Cho-Gak-Hyong signifies the transformation in the structural and designing role of column section and middle section and there appears a unified aspect in Yon-Hwa-Hyong. The transformation from Kyo-Du-Hyong towards Yon-Hwa-Hyong suggests that this is an intention of symbolizing the Buddhist teachings inside and outside of the eave-supporters. The purpose of this change establishes the Buddhist land.

In 2018, the Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea introduced a new system that registers national cultural heritage in street and district units. Yeongju City's Modern Historical and Cultural District was selected as the first trial region. This grouping method breaks through conservation and utilization limitations of cultural heritage in individual building units. Thus, the issue is how will such historical and cultural spaces be grouped, conserved and managed. Hence, this study identifies the current situation of buildings in the Modern Historical and Cultural Street of Yeongju and conducts an experimental survey. Based on this, the types of modern architecture were classified, and the architectural groups were extracted and categorized to preserve and utilize the architecture. For these purposes, priority groups were determined by evaluating them based on five criteria: archetype, placeness, politicalness, typicality and originality. The modern architecture in the Modern Historical and Cultural Street of Yeongju have undergone many changes. The residential transformation of small and medium-sized cities during modern times can be understood as a process of settlement and nativization.

This study delves into the concept of cultural hybridity, using the Great Mosque-Cathedral in Córdoba, Spain as a unique case study. This monumental site stands as a testament to the convergence of Islamic and Christian architecture and ideology, a phenomenon that is often discussed in modern contexts. However, this study takes a step further, examining cultural hybridity across historical epochs to reveal its persistent relevance in shaping social and cultural landscapes. Originally a mosque transformed into a Christian cathedral, the Great Mosque-Cathedral is a prime example of this phenomenon, reflecting continuous cultural, architectural, and ideological exchanges between the two religions. This paper meticulously analyzes how the structure's architectural elements embody these exchanges, such as its ornate mihrab and unique double-arched columns. By integrating theories of hybridity with a detailed architectural and historical analysis, the study argues that the mosque-cathedral is not merely a physical space but a dynamic medium through which cultural negotiations and adaptations are articulated. The findings underscore the complexity of cultural hybridity, challenging simplistic interpretations of cultural exchange and dominance, and highlighting the mosque-cathedral's role in ongoing debates about identity and heritage in contemporary society. This comprehensive examination contributes to academic discussions on hybridity and enhances our understanding of cultural resilience and transformation through architectural spaces.

Globalization and multi-culturalizm have put light on the importance of cultural identity. To find or establish cultural identity designers have made their effort in their practice. Understanding possible expressional method for cultural identity in this context koreanity, can be a basis to promote such activities. The propose of this study is to investigate expressional method of koreanity in interior design cases appeared which were introduced in major domestic periodical publications since 1995. 43 cases were analyzed by using the analysis frame of 4 expressional method , such as an indicative imitation method, a partial invoked method, a partial transformation method and a conceptual reception method. As result 47％ of total cases were used the partial transformation method. 16％ by the indicative imitation method, 7％ by the partial invoked method and 30％ by the conceptual reception method. This result indicated designers have had more active attitude in expressing koreanity with interpretation of traditional concept in a contemporary way, rather than simply introducing and immitating traditional object. Design examples were organized and explained according to expressional method types.

Low-rise Residential neighborhoods of Hongdae area, Garosu-gil, Samchung-dong, Itawon etc. are currently emerging new spaces for cultural consumption in the city. Nonetheless undiscerning excessive commercialization often results in monotonous urban space and deportation of residents and leaders of change; Due to commercialization and popularization recently this phenomenon is influencing surrounding low-rise residential neighborhoods. The main objective of this study is to examine how surrounding low-rise residential neighborhood transforms according to the expansion of culture-commerce spaces. Hongdae area's culture-commerce spaces and its expansion into Yeonnam-dong is investigated in specific. Especially attributes and main causes of transformation in physical and experiential space of neighborhood living facilities and residential buildings, when changed into culture-commerce related use is examined in detail. The expansion of culture-commerce space of Hongdae to Yeonnam-dong area has positive meaning in aspects of everyday experience. First, physical alteration of street-building relation increases direct and indirect contact of people. Contact opportunity carries important meaning in sense that it is prerequisite for next stage contact of network and exchange. Second, culture-commerce related programs provide the third place, where various leisure activities can take place. Attributes of transformation and positive meaning of culture-commerce spaces expanding its territory presents the need of management.

This paper aims to analyze the influences of the socio-cultural environment on discourse in translation. To illustrate a deep connection between discourses and societies in which they were produced, communicative patterns of high- and low-context cultures are examined. Though the original version of the translated text comes from a different culture, the translation reflects communicative preferences of the target culture. To uncover some of these preferences, a comparative study of two translations from Russian into English and from English into Russian is conducted. This study, together with further investigation of some more recent translations into Russian, revealed a number of choices affected by translators' cultural background (for example, making the translation more emotionally charged) and current ideological preferences in the society (excessive use of anglicisms).

To restore the Under glaze Blue -White porcelain kiln site of choson period, where is located at 114, SanBon 2 Dong GunPo city. it was used to the conservation method, particularly F.R.P.(Fiber glass Reinforced plastic) for moving the kiln site from the present area to historic site No. 342 after restoration.

이 글은 영미권 문화연구에서 활발하게 쓰이고 있는 문화매개자(cultural intermediary) 개념을 비판적으로 검토하고 그 확장 가능성을 모색한다. 프랑스 사회학자 피에르 부르디외(Pierre Bourdieu)가 제안한 이 개념은 영미권에서 ‘문화생산과 수용의 중간 과정에 개입하는 모든 기구와 행위자들’을 가리키는 용어로 쓰여 왔다. 우리는 그동안 영미권을 중심으로 이루어진 문화매개자 관련 논의와 부르디외의 논의를 차례로 검토하면서, 이 개념의 문제의식과 이론적 지평을 재구성하고자 하였다. 그 과정에서 문화산물의 의미와 가치를 생산하고 사회 내 다양한 문화들을 중개하는 문화매개자의 기능, 특히 비평가 집단의 중요성을 강조하였다. 또 인터넷의 발달과 더불어 비평 활동이 일반화되고 있는 상황에서 문화매개자 개념을 온라인 영역에까지 적용해보고자 했다. 이러한 맥락에서 온라인 문화매개자와 온라인 문화매개활동이 기존의 다른 문화매개자 집단들과 비교해볼 때 어떠한 특징을 지니는지 이론적으로 기술하였다. 이러한 논의는 현재 한국사회에서 새롭게 부상하고 있는 디지털 문화정경을 문화매개자군의 다원화와 그에 따른 문화권력의 변동이라는 관점에서 이해할 수 있게 해주는 기초 작업으로서 의미를 가진다.

This research applies the discursive approach to investigate the social transformation of students' conceptual model of differential equations. The analysis focuses on the students' use of metaphor in class in order to find kinds of metaphor used, their characteristics, and a pattern in the use of metaphor. Based on the analysis, it is concluded that the students' conceptual model of differential equations gradually becomes transformed with respect to the historical and cultural structure of the communal practice of mathematics. The findings suggest that through participating in the daily practice of mathematics as a historical and cultural product, a learner becomes socially transformed to a certain kind of a cultural being with historicity. This implies that mathematics education is concerned with the formation of historical and cultural identity at a fundamental level.
