This study was conducted to improve the continuous techniques for international competitiveness of ginseng industry to Korea-China FTA negotiation and conclusion, and provide the basic information for ginseng industry development of Korea. It was carried out the visiting of the northeastern three provinces (Jilin, Liaoling and Heilongjang) in China for 3-year from 2014 to 2016 and observed the farmers' fields of ginseng cultivation with soil environmental status. The types of ginseng cultivation could be observed in small scales of 0.5~3.0 ha, in middle scales of 4.0~10.0 ha and in large scales of 30~700 ha with the kinds of imhasam, Chinese ginseng, Korean ginseng and western ginseng. Also ginseng was cultivated in newly reclaimed land of forest in two types of direct seeding and transplanting of ginseng seedlings. The field beds of ginseng growing were covered with vinyl films in arch design of 100~130 cm height and vinyl was painted in spraying with blue, green and yellow colours for shading. It was investigated in status of the physico-chemical properties of soils. The physical information on the field soils were silt loam, loam and sandy loam in soil textures, and some plain in low slope, some alluvial fan or local valley in forest of land topography. Soil pH ranged within 5.0~5.2, soil EC was $0.93{\sim}3.78dS\;m^{-1}$, organic matter was $37{\sim}35g\;kg^{-1}$, nitrate nitrogen $63{\sim}490mg\;kg^{-1}$, available $P_2O_5$$55{\sim}163mg\;kg^{-1}$, and in exchangeable cations, K was 0.30~0.98, Ca was 6.5~14.0, Mg was $1.1{\sim}5.3cmol_c\;kg^{-1}$ in ranges. Farmers used the fertilizer for ginseng cultivation in 10~11 t of compost, $200{\sim}400kg\;ha^{-1}$ of complex fertilizer and $750kg\;ha^{-1}$ of oil cakes. The northeastern three provinces of China can use the newly lands with large areas of ginseng cultivation in soil sickness by continuous cropping. and the soil basic fertility is batter than that of Korean in standard guide of ginseng cultivation soil.
This research was conducted to get the basic information for improving production amount as well as fruit quality by using Prohaxadion-Calcium (Pro-Ca) used as 'Sato Nishiki', cherry cultivar, which is most frequently cultivated in Korea. In fruiting trees, we used Pro-ca and concentration of treatment selected 150, 200 and $250\;mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$. When treating Pro-Ca $200\;mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$, we could get the highest effect on inhibition of shoot growth. All treatments of Pro-Ca were increased chlorophyll a and b, respectively compared with control. Although treatments of Pro-Ca treatment showed the decreased effect on leaf area and there was no difference in fruit quality among treatments. Also, Pro-Ca $250\;mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$, sprayed 3 times, and pclobutrazol ($PP_{333}$) 500 and $1,000\;mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$, applicated soil, were treated to 1 year old plnted pot. Pro-Ca and $PP_{333}$ showed inhibition of shoot growth, especially, Pro-Ca showed the more effect than $pp_{333}$ on growth inhibition. Soil applications of $pp_{333}$ showed less effect to enlargement of tree trunk compared to Pro-Ca and control. Pro-Ca and $pp_{333}$ were not difference in number of inter-nodes when comparing to control, but they on decreased leaf area and increased chlorophyll.

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of harvest seasons on quality and microbial population at different steps of production chain of fresh-cut iceberg lettuce. Iceberg lettuces harvested in May, June, July, October, and December were processed following industrial practices, and stored at $5^{\circ}C$ for 9 days. For microbial measurement, samples were taken from each of the following steps: harvest, transport, pretreatment, cutting, 1st-washing, 2nd-washing, and day 3, 6, and 9 of storage. Iceberg lettuce cultivated in protect house and harvested in May and October showed higher $CO_2$ levels in the packages and electrolyte leakages than lettuce harvested in June, July and December. Microbial population of raw materials harvested in July was highest (6.76 log), and microbial growth rate during storage was highest in samples harvested in May. Lettuce harvested in June had better quality and microbial safety compared to other lettuces. Although lettuce harvested in October and December had less microbial population in either raw materials or processed products, those samples had inferior quality due to off-odor development and severe browning. Therefore, it is required to maintain quality and ensure microbial safety to distribute fresh-cut lettuce with high quality and safety throughout the year.
Varieties of the cereals produced in the Biblical times and the ways these cereal foods have been grafted into Korean food culture has been pursued, and the regulations of agricultural life and the metaphors or parables of cereals represented throughout the Bible have been studied. The word "grain" appears eight times in the KJV and one hundred seventeen times in the RSV. On the other hand, the word "corn" shows up one hundred and one times in the KJV but not in the RSV at all. Wheat, one of the earliest cultivated and the most important grains for food is mentioned fifty two times in KJV and generally the rich in those days lived on wheat in the parched state or in the form of bread. Barley, one of the staple cereal crops of Palestine is referred to thirty six times in the KJV. It was less expensive than wheat and so was used mainly for the food of such animals as horses, donkeys and cattle, but sometimes it was mixed with flour and used for making bread for men, mostly for Poor men. The spelt (in ASV and RSV) and the rie(in KJV) appearing in Exodus 9:32 is a kind of grain, which is translated into Na-mack (in Hangul Revised Bible ; HRB), Ssal-bori (in Hangul Common Translated Bible : HCB) and Ho-mil (in Hangul King James Bible; HKJB) but which should be put into Spelt-mil in Korean. The lentil appearing in Genesis 25 : 34 is translated into Pat (red-bean) and Bul-kong respectively in HRB and HCB but the same word in the Second Book of Samuel is translated into Pat in both HRB and HCB. HCB translates lentil into Bul-kong in Genesis and into Pat in the Second Book of Samuel (23:11). HCB and HKJB which put lentil into Pat in previous parts translate the word into Nok-tu in the Second Book of Samuel. The word, lentil here should be put into lentil-kong and parched pulse into "Poken-Chong-ja" not into Poken-Nok-tu. Millet which is translated into Cho should be put into Gui-jang. filches should not be classified as a grain or a cereal but as a flavor or a condiment, so the word filches should be put into So-Hoi-hyang or Hoi-hyang. Regulations in reference to agriculture are included in the Bible. That is, it is seen that the Bible regulates the observance of the sabbatical year and feasts, the partition of land, how to sow and so on. It is also observed that grains are used for metaphors or parables: wheat represents the peaceful times and straws are compared to trifles. As seen above, there should be more prudent examinations and standards for the translation of grains into Pat, Pul-kong, Nok-tu, Gui-ree, Ssal-bo-ri and Na-mack.i-ree, Ssal-bo-ri and Na-mack.
Six commercial rice varieties were cultivated at different locations in 1987 and 1988. Rice samples harvested from 8 to 20 locations for a variety each year were used to measure or observe grain appearance, amylose content and alkali digestibility, cooked rice texture using rheometer, gelatinization and viscosity of rice flour using amylograph, and eating Quality of cooked rice by sensory evaluation. Relationship between Quality characteristics showing large locational variation were analized to approach the long-term objective, rice grain Quality standardization. Percent white-center and white-belly grain of the same variety showed great variation between locations, but did not affect on 1000-grain weight, amylose content and alkali digestibility, amylogram and rheogram characteristics, and eating Quality of cooked rice. Positive correlationship were obtained between maximum viscosity and break down, and maximum viscosity and alkali digestibility. Set back was correlated negatively with maximum viscosity, break down and alkali digestibility. Rice samples having significantly lower values of maximum viscosity and break down and higher set back value at the same time showed higher ADV and lower texture palatability index (TPI) and viscousness/hardness ratio (Vi/H), and lower sensory evaluation score of cooked rice compared with those of rices having typically higher values of maximum viscosity and break down and lower set back value. When TPI, Vi/H and overall sensory eating score of cooked rices measured were divided into three categories, high, medium and low using deviation from locational mean value of a variety, many of rice samples having high TPI or high Vi/H showed medium or high in overall sensory eating score of cooked rice.

This study was examined to establish a conditions for producing Tteokbokki using dry-milling rice flour which can save manpower and labor time. Since the cost of producing rice flour milled in a wet condition is 500 to 700 won/kg, which is more than twice as much as that of 300 won wheat flour, it is necessary to directly make rice flour from raw rice. The dry-milling rice flour used in the experiment was produced by Air mill (Nara machinary co. ltd., Tokyo, Japan) from 5 rice cultivars (Samkwang, Dasan-1, Boramchan, Seolgaeng, Hanareum-2), which were cultivated in A-san in 2015 year. Their particle sizes were 50, 100 and $150{\mu}m$ for each cultivar, respectively. A control was a wet-milled rice flour milled with a roll mill after the rice was soaked in water for 4 hours. The moisture content of dry-milling rice flour based on cultivars was 11 ~ 12%, and added water up to 50~55% of dry-milling rice flour weight. The RVA characteristic of peak viscosity was the highest in Dasan-1 and Hanareum-2, the lowest in Seolgaeng. The setback value used as an indicator of aging was the highest in Dasan-1, therefore Dasan-1 was expected to be quick solidification, resulting in the low tendency of sensory evaluation. The damaged starch was high in Dasan-1 and Boramchan (p<0.05) compared to others. The Hunter color L were no significant among cultivars and b value increased in all cultivars of dry-milling rice flour compared with control. The hardness of dry-milling rice flour was higher than that of the control, especially Dasan-1 and Hanareum-2 were the highest. Based on the sensory evaluation, the best cultivars were Boramchan, Hanareum-2 and Samkwang. The overall preference of dry-milling rice flour was good in particle size of 50~100um.

This study was conducted to know the influence of air temperature and sunshine duration on yield, chemical component, pigment color difference and starch characteristics of two colored rice cultivars in the plain area of Yeongnam province in Korea. The $L^*$, $a^*$, and $b^*$ value of brown rice in Hongjinju and Josaengheugchal rice cultivars was significantly different at continuous cultivated years, 2015 and 2016. The $L^*$, $b^*$ value of two colored rice was significantly increased in 2016 compared to 2015. The $a^*$ value of Josengheugchal rice cultivar was also significantly higher at 2016 than at 2015. It can be noticed the $a^*$, $b^*$, $L^*$ values in Josaengheugchal varied more than those in Hongjinju. Air temperature during ripening period in 2016 was higher than 2015, especially minimum temperature was too high to proper maturation for rice quality. In Josaengheugchal rice cultivar, sunshine duration after heading was longer in 2016 than in 2015. On the contrary, Hongjinju rice cultivar was ripened under condition of insufficient sunshine duration in 2016. The short growing duration by high temperature and long shiny duration made the lack of pigment for Josaengheugchal brown rice. In Hongjinju rice cultivar, shorten sunshine duration and higher night temperature were the source of the pigment deficiency. The grain size of rice which produced in 2016 was bigger than that of 2015 in both rice cultivars. The 1,000 grain weight of rice from 2016 was also bigger than that of 2015. Head rice ratio was high in the rice cultivars produced in 2015. Protein of milled rice in 2016 was more decreased than that of 2015 in Josaengheugchal rice cultivar, it showed reverse result in Hongjinju rice cultivar. Amylose contents of milled rice in 2016 were more decreased than that of 2015 in Hongjinju rice cultivar. Branch chain length distribution of amylopectin was shown a distinct difference between Josaengheugchal and Hongjinju rice flours by each produced year. Josaengheugchal rice cultivar produced in 2015 had a higher amount of short chains than that of 2016 rice starches. In Josaengheugchal rice cultivar, the pasting temperature and peak, trough, breakdown, final viscosity increased in rice flour which produced at 2016, whereas the setback viscosity and peak time showed lower value than those of rice from 2015. The most pasting properties (except of setback viscosity) of rice starch in Hongjinju rice cultivar grown in 2015 were higher than those of rice cultivar produced in 2016.
A new Asiatic hybrid lily 'Redsky' cultivar was selected from a cross between 'Vivaldi' cultivar with pale pink color flower as mother plant and 'Prato' with orange colored flower in 2000 year. The selected bulb line was propagated and cultivated for line nomenclature as 'Gonong-F-na-10'. The survey of the growth and flower characteristics of 'Gonong-F-na-10' were conducted from 2005 to 2007 on summer cropping system under structure in Highland Agriculture Research Center, NICS, RDA. After all 'Gonong-F-na-10' was named as 'Redsky'. The flowers of the 'Redsky' cultivar had not soft hair and fragrance, and had orange red (O-R N30D) colored petals with dark brown spots in center of flower. The stem color was dark pink and brown caused by anthocyanin pigment, the stigma and pollen colors were brown. Flowering direction was upward. The flowering date was July 7 so early flowering. The plant height was 97.2 cm so long, number of flowers was 4.9 ea, and length of flower bud was 9.3 cm. The bulb weight was about 34.8 g and its bulb size was about 14.8 cm in circumference. 'Redsky' cultivar was registered as a new variety with No. 3119 in Korea Seed and Variety Service on June of 2010.

We investigated the growth response and population regeneration of four halophyte species: Suaeda japonica, Salicornia europaea, Suaeda maritima and Suaeda glauca, when climate change proceeds caused by increased CO2 concentration and temperature. The plants collected from habitat in 2018 were transplanted into Wagner pots, and cultivated for two years in greenhouse divided into a control (ambient condition) and a treatment (elevated CO2+elevated temperature). The shoot length of halophytes was measured in July of each year, and the population regeneration rate was measured in October 2019. The shoot lengths of S. japonica and S. glauca had no difference between control and treatment for two years. Those of S. europaea were longer in control than treatment for two years. Those of S. maritima had no difference between control and treatment in 2018 but were longer in control than treatment in 2019. In control, the shoot lengths of S. japonica, S. europaea and S. glauca had no difference between years while those of S. maritima were longer in 2018 than in 2019. In treatment, those of S. japonica, S. europaea and S. maritima were shorter in 2019 than 2018 but S. glauca had no difference between years. The regeneration rates of S. japonica, S. europaea and S. glauca were lower treatment than control, and there was no difference in the regeneration rate of S. maritima. In conclusion, if climate change progresses caused by the increase of CO2 concentration and temperature, the shoot lengths of S. japonica, S. europaea and S. maritima will be shortened, and the regeneration rate of population will be increased only in the S. maritima.

A study was conducted to determine the effects of seed mixture and nitrogen application levels on botanical composition and forage productivity in grazing pasture. Legume forage have the ability to take nitrogen from the atmosphere and convert it into a form usable by plants. Including legumes in mixtures with grass lowers the amount of nitrogen fertilizer required to produce forages. Dry matter (DM) yield of grass-legume mixtures was more than that of grass mono-cultivated and grass+white clover+red clover mixtures was the highest as 17,391 kg/ha in legume mixture (P<0.01). The highest DM yield was in N-200 kg/ha, but it was similar between N-100 kg/ha(15,128) and N-200 kg/ha (16,017). The large decline in the proportion of grass during April to June in 2004 probably was due to the drought and summer depression in grass-legume mixtures. Grass proportions decreased by 8.2% after 2 year, and white clover was dominated in grass-white clover mixture by May 2005. Crud protein (CP) content tends to increase with increased nitrogen application level.
