  • To maintain high quality and to extend the shelf life of intact and minimally processed apple cubes, the effect of heat shock on the texture and color of apple cubes (Fuji) was evaluated in this study. After peeled and cored, the apples were cut into cubes of 1.5 cm. The heat shock was immersion in heated water from 25$^{\circ}C$ to 95$^{\circ}C$ in 10$^{\circ}C$ increments for 2 min and cooling to storage temperature as soon as possible after heat treatment. The effect of heat treatment in terms of color and texture measurements with respect to time was investigated, respectively during 7 days storage at in LDPE film bags without sealing at 4$^{\circ}C$, and 95% relative humidity air. Results suggest that heat shock (55$^{\circ}C$, 2 min) may have effectively delayed browning, and there were significant changes in color of apple cube when the temperature of heat shock is above 75$^{\circ}C$. And hardness, stiffness and firmness, which were used to describe texture, behaved similarly in the textural qualities. It was shown that the texture of the apple cubes was decreased with temperature increase. The value of them were most decreased to 70% of the initial ones after treated with 85$^{\circ}C$ and 95$^{\circ}C$ on the lust day.

  • Bi-axially textured Ni tapes were prepared by cold rolling process and powder metallurgy. The Ni powder used in this study was 5 $\mu$m in size and 99.99 % in purity. For densification, the powder compact was sintered at $1100^{\circ}C$ for 6h in 96 % Ar - 4 % $H_{2}$ atmosphere, and the sintered compact was cold rolled with a 5% reduction, and then heat-treated to give it a texture structure. In this paper, we will discuss the effect of the processing variables on development of the cube texture.

  • In order to evade the patent of Oak Ridge National Laboratory (RABiTS process) and search for more economical process, a new process for producing the biaxially textured Ni tape by electrodeposition has been investigated. Electrodeposition was performed in the modified Watts bath. The crystal orientations of electrodeposited Ni were analysed by X-ray pole figure, ${\phi}$-scan and ${\omega}$-scan. The electrodeposited Ni tape showed cube texture with good out-of plane(< 8${\circ}$) and in-plane alignment(< 20${\circ}$).

  • The texture evolution by deep drawing was investigated and the lattice rotation rate was predicted using rate sensitive model with full constraints boundary conditions. The calculated textures show different behaviors with the amount of the flange deformation and initial crystal orientations. Among the crystal orientations located parallel to RD, the crystal orientations around the D component rotated toward the Cu component, the crystal orientations along the ${\alpha}$ fiber rotated toward the {110}<001> and {110}<111> components during deep drawing. In the case of the part parallel to 45$^{\circ}$ with respect to RD, the crystal orientations around the D component rotated about ND and the crystal orientations along the ${\alpha}$ fiber also rotated toward the (110)[23] and (110)[27] components about ND. In the part parallel to TD, the crystal orientations around the D component rotated toward the Rotated Cube and the crystal orientations along the ${\alpha}$ fiber rotated toward the {110}<113> component.

  • We fabricated cube textured Ni substrate for YBCO coated conductor and evaluated the effects of processing parameters on microstructural evolution and texture formation. Ni-rods as an initial specimen were prepared by two different methods, i.e., powder metallurgy(PM) and plasma arc melting(PAM). Subsequently, the rods were cold rolled to 100 $\mu\textrm{m}$ thick substrate and annealed at temperatures of $700∼1200^{\circ}C$. The texture of the substrate was characterized by pole-figure. It was observed that the texture of substrate made by P/M did not significantly varied with annealing temperature of 600∼$l100^{\circ}C$ and the full-width at half-maximums (FWHM) of both in-plane and out-of-plane were 9$^{\circ}$$10^{\circ}$. On the other hand, the texture of substrate made by PAM was more dependent on the annealing temperature and the corresponding values were $9^{\circ}$$13^{\circ}$ at the temperature range. In addition, recrystallization twin texture, (221)<221>, was formed as the temperature increased further. OM profiles showed that the grain size of substrate made by P/M was smaller than that made by PAM and this difference was correlated to the microstructure of initial specimens.

The measured textures are dependent on the amount of the flange deformation and the initial crystal orientations. In the specimen parallel to RD the initial crystal orientations and the D component rotated toward the Cu component and the initial crystal orientations along the $\alpha$ fiber rotated toward the G {1 1 0}<0 0 1> and P {1 1 0} <1 1 1> components during deep drawing. • Heat-treatable Al-Mg-Si-Cu alloy sheets, which are expected to have a growing demand, were fabricated by Cross rolling to improve their formability. The mechanical properties and texture of the sheets after the final annealing process were investigated by a tensile test, EBSD and XRD analysis. The grain size of the cross-rolled sheets was remarkably decreased compared to conventional rolled sheets, and the R-value of the cross-rolled sheets was notably increased by about one and a half times that of the conventional rolled sheet. Cube{001}<100> and cubic system orientations were strongly developed in conventional rolled sheets. However, randomized textures were formed in the cross-rolled sheets without specific texture. It is thought that much shear deformation was induced during the cross rolling. The results show that the cross rolling method is effective for improving the R-value of aluminum alloys sheets and their grain refinement. As a result, it is considered that cross rolling is effective for improving formability.

  • [ $Yb_2O_3$ ] films were successfully deposited on a cube-textured Ni and(100) $SrTiO_3$(STO) single crystal substrates by metal organic chemical vapor deposition(MOCVD) method using $H_2O$ vapor as an oxidant. $H_2O$ vapor was used in order to avoid the oxidation of Ni substrate. The working pressure and Ar flow rate were 10 Ton and 600 sccm, respectively. $Yb_2O_3$ films on STO were formed at high temperatures above $900^{\circ}C$. While XRD peaks from $Yb_2O_3$ were hardly detected at $900^{\circ}C$, the $Yb_2O_3$(400) texture was developed fur the films grown at deposition temperatures above $950^{\circ}C$. The AEM surface roughness of $Yb_2O_3$ film, grown on STO, was in the range of $6{\sim}10nm$ for the film deposited at $950^{\circ}C$ with a $H_2O$ vapor partial pressure of 5.5 Ton and deposition times of 3 and 5 mins. For cube-textured Ni substrate, both $Yb_2O_3$(222) and $Yb_2O_3$ (400) textures were developed textures at deposition temperatures above $850^{\circ}C$.
