  • This study analyzed the levels of N-nitrosamine(NA) and its precursors such as nitrite, nitrate, dimethylamine and trimethylamine in 10 samples of mollusk fish, 4 samples of crustacea fish and 11 samples of shellfish from fish distributed in a local markets. Mollusk fishes had nitrite concentrations ranging from non-detectable(ND) to 9.4 mg/kg, crustacea fishes ND to 8.8 mg/kg, and shellfishes ND to 4.3 mg/kg. Nitrates in mollusk fishes ranged from ND to 19.3 mg/kg, crustacea fishes 4.1 to 79.9 mg/kg, and shellfishes 1.5 to 61.9 mg/kg. DMK concentrations were 11.2 to 551.4 mg/100g in mollusk fishes, 44.4 to 79.9 mg/100g in crustacea fishes, and 1.3 to 5.9 mg/100g in shellfishes. TMA concentrations in mollusk fishes, crustacea fishes, and shellfishes were 10.3${\sim}$292.4 mg/100g, 35.5${\sim}$90.3 mg/100g, and 2.3${\sim}$17.1 mg/100g respectively. Only N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) was detected for NA in fish distributed in local markets. NDMA contentrations ranged from ND to 41.4 ${\mu}g/kg$ in mollusk fishes, 3.0 to 47.3 ${\mu}g/kg$ in crustacea fishes, and 1.7 to 12.1 ${\mu}g/kg$ in shellfishes.

  • The feeding ecology of Doederleinia berycoides from the southern sea of Korea was examined. Specimens were caught monthly from January 2007 to June 2008. The size of the specimens ranged from 6.8 to 39.8cm in total length (TL). The primary prey items of D. berycoides included fishes and shrimps. In autumn, feeding mainly crustacea and fishes feeding mainly in winter. The individuals of smallest size class (less than 15 cm TL) fed mainly on crustacea. The proportion of crustacea decreased as body size increased, whereas the consumption of fishes increased. Fishes accounted for almost (86%) stomach contents of larger individuals (more than 35 cm TL).

  • Four species of the family Diastylidae (Crustacea: Cumacea) are redescribed based on the samples collected in the Yellow Sea. They are Leptostylis hexaspinula (Liu and Liu, 1990), Dimorphostylis brevicaudata (Zimmer, 1903), Dimorphostylis asiatica Zimmer, 1920 and Dimorphostylis hirsuta Gamo, 1960. Except Dimorphostylis asiatica the three species are new to the Korean fauna.

  • Four new Korean records of the gammarid (Crustacea, Amphipoda), Grandidierella fasciata Ariyama, 1996; Moolapheonoides acutifalcatus Kobayashi and Ishimaru, 2005; Guernea terelamina Hirayama, 1985; and Gordonodius zelleri (Berge, Vader and Coleman, 1999) were reported from the Korean indigenous species survey project funded by the National Institute of Biological Resources (2014-2015). Each of these species is well accorded with the original description for the species except for some minor morphological differences. The genera Moolapheonoides Barnard, 1974 and Gordonodius Ariyama, 2011 are reported for the first time from Korea.

  • The present study dealt with cumaceans (Cumacea: Bodotriidae) collected from the Yellow Sea. Specimens were sampled using a van Veen grab m the Yellow Sea and in. Kyonggi Bay surrounding Inchon, Korea. New figures and redescriptions of the four bodotiid cumaceans are presented including Bodotria ovalis Gamo, 1965, Iphinoe tenera Lomakina, 1960, Eocuma cf. hilgendorfi Marcusen, 1894, and Heterocuma sarsi Miers, 1879. They are newly added in the Korean fauna.
