Two surveys for exploring communicative paths toward political participation were conducted with relatively large samples of Americans (N = 1001) and South Koreans (N = 1166). Hierarchical regression modeling of the relationships among demographics, personal networks, news consumption, and cross-cutting discussion and political participation demonstrated mostly commonalities between the two samples, including the interaction between political diversity and Twitter usage for news access but with distinct effect sizes of cross-cutting discussion on political participation. We attribute the differences to the two countries' distinct histories of democracy and culture, and the commonalities to the general relationships between cross-cutting discussion and political participation moderated by strong ties political homogeneity.

Spawn bottle cutting and spawn cake shredding machine has been developed to save the farm labor and operating cost for mushroom growing farmers. The prototype can cut the bottom and side of the bottle while shredding the spawn cake by one farmer. The cutting plastic shell is done by two couples of high speed disc saws that can cut cross section and lengthwise two side of the bottle, while spawn cake shredding is done by spike teethed rotating drum and wiremesh concave. The optimum speed of cutting disc saw was observed 1.700rpm both the cross cutting saw and lengthwise cutting saw in consideration of the cutting accuracy. And the location for the instalation of cross cutting disc saw was considered as around 4 mm above the table bottom , while the optimum clearance between two edges of lengthwise cutting disc saw was showed 86mm. For the sawdust spawn cake shredder , proper size of spawn sawdust granule was observed in the 15 x 15mm size withmesh concave with the shredding rum speed of 500rpm. The prototype can be reduce 73 per cent of working hours with the working cost reduction of 49 per cent compare with those of conventional operation.

Radial immersion ratio is an important factor to determine the threshold in face milling and should be estimated in process for automatic force regulation. In this paper, presented is a method of on-line estimation of radial immersion ratio using cutting force. When a tooth finishes sweeping, sudden drop of cutting forces occurs. These force drops are equal to the cutting forces that act on a single tooth at the swept angle of cut and can be acquired from cutting force signals in feed and cross-feed directions. The ratio of cutting forces in feed and cross-feed directions acting on the single tooth at the swept angle of cut is a function of the swept angle of cut and the ratio of radial to tangential cutting force. In the research, it is found that the ratio of radial to tangential cutting force is not affected by cutting conditions and axial rake angle. Therefore, the ratio of radial to tangential cutting force determined by just one preliminary experiment can be used regardless of the cutting conditions. Using the measured cutting forces and predetermined ratio, the redial immersion ratio is estimated. various experiments show that the radial immersion ratio can be estimated by the proposed method very well.

The milling process is one of the most important metal removal processes in industry. due to the complexities inherent to the cutter insert geometry and the milling cutter kinematics, these processes leave an analytically difficult to predict texture on the machined surface's hills and valleys. The instantaneous uncut chip cross sectional area may be estimated by the relative position between the workpiece and the cutter inserts. Furthermore, since the cutting forces are proportional to the instantaneous uncut chip cross sectional area, the cutting forces in face milling operations can not be estimated easily. A new simulation program which is based upon the numerical method has been proposed to estimate the cutting force components, with the ability to predict the machined surface texture left by the face milling.
To propose a basic material that can improve the crumples in the knee area and can be applied as an element of garment design, the present study examined the elongation rates of the samples by differentiating the number of cutting lines according to the direction of the fabric, and then determined the puckering phenomenon by judging the conditions of the seams based on the looks of seam lines after bi-axil elongation. After the subjective evaluation on the knee areas of both the standard and modified trousers, the following conclusion was drawn : The elongation rates of the samples are: warp (3.98%)cross-legged (-0.2)>squatting down (-0.4); those in the modified trousers feel more comfortable when sitting on a chair (0.2)>cross-legged (0)>squatting down (-0.6). In the cross-legged posture, the modified trousers (0) has higher scores in the subjective evaluation than the standard ones (-0.2). The evaluation on the looks of needleworks in the samples with cutting lines along the direction of the fabric: weft2 (5.0)

In this study, a method is proposed for the cutting force prediction of Ball-end milling process using Z-map is proposed. Any types of cutting area generated from previous cutting process can be expressed in z-map data. Cutting edge of a ball-end mill is divided into a set of finite cutting edges and the position of this edge is projected to the cross-section plane normal to the Z-axis. Comparing this projected position with Z-map data of cutting area and determining whether it is in the cutting region, total cutting force can be calculated by means of numerical integration. A series of experiments such as side cutting and upward/downard cutting was performet to verify the simulated cutting force.

In this study, the cross-coupling control (CCC) with three new features is proposed to maintain contour precision in high-speed nonlinear contour machining. One is an improved contour error model that provides almost exact calculation of the errors. Another is the utilization of variable controller gains based on the instantaneous curvature of the contour and the variable command. For this scheme, a stability is analyzed. As a result, the stability region is obtained, and the variable gains are decided within that region. The other scheme in the proposed CCC is a real-time feedrate adaptation module to regulate cutting force fur better surface finish through regulation of material removal rate (MRR). The simulation results show that the proposed CCC system can provide better precision than the existing method particularly in high-speed machining of nonlinear contours.

To facilitate the manufacturing of dull using CNC grinding machine, the simulation of helical groove machining with given wheel profile and setting condition is necessary. Considering the wheel as a collection of thin disks, the flute configuration is predicted in a cross section perpendicular to the axis and the grinding wheel profile is also predicted to machine the desired helical groove with given setting conditions. Two programs for these processes are developed. Using programs interactively, the helical groove machining process can be predicted more accurately. By clarifying the geometrical relation between the shape of cutting edge and the flute configuration in the cross section which is perpendicular to drill axis, it becomes possible to predict the necessary cross sectional shape of wheel for desired drill cutting edge shape. Some factors for the software are considered concerning prediction of accuracy and computing time.

In this paper, a new adaptive cross-coupling control (CCC) method with an improved contour error model is proposed to maintain contouring precision in high-speed nonlinear contour machining. The proposed method utilizes variable controller gains based on the instantaneous curvature of a contour and the feedrate command. In addition, a real-time federate adaptation scheme is included in the proposed CCC to regulate cutting force. The proposed method is evaluated and compared with the conventional CCC for nonlinear contouring motion through computer simulations. The simulation results show that the proposed CCC improves the contouring accuracy and regulates cutting force more effectively than the existing method.
