The aim of the study is to provide fundamental information for the development of magneticfluid actuator. To achieve the aim, the force and dynamic characteristics of magenticfluid are investigated by experiment for the various of tube diameter, height and position of magneticfluid column in magneticfield according to supplied voltage of solenoid coil, wave form and frquency. From this study, actuating force of magneticfluid is generated by magneticfield. The magnitude of force increases as the intensity of magneticfield becomes strong and the center of magneticfield becomes lower than the center of magneticfluid column. And the force of magneticfluid relates to the volume of magneticfluid more than the height and diameter. The response delay time decreases as the height of magmeticfluid more than the height and diameter. The response delay time decrease as the height of magneticfluid column becomes longer and the center of magneticfield becomes lower than the center of magniticfluid column. But, the approaching time increases as supplied voltage becomes higher and the center of magneticfiled becomes higher than the center of magniticfluid column. The frequency generating maximum force is 1Hz and the critical frequency is about 4Hz.
Due to the considerable development of the technology of second generation high-temperature superconductors and a significant improvement in their mechanical and transport properties in the last few years it is possible to use HTS tapes in the magnetic levitation systems. The advantages of tapes on a metal substrate as compared with bulk YBCO material primarily in the strength, and the possibility of optimizing the convenience of manufacturing elements of levitation systems. In the present report presents the results of the magnetic levitation force measurements between the stack of HTS tapes containing $n=2{\div}200$ of tapes $12mm{\times}12mm$ and NdFeB permanent magnet in the FC and ZFC regimes. It was found a non- linear dependence of the levitation force from the height of the array of stack in both modes: linear growth at small thickness gives way to flattening and constant at large number of tapes in the stack. Established that the levitation force of stacks comparable to that of bulk samples. The numerical calculations using finite element method showed that without the screening of the applied field the levitation force of the bulk superconductor and the layered superconductor stack with a critical current of tapes increased by the filling factor is exactly the same, and taking into account the screening force slightly different.
A dynamic analysis using a hybrid finite element method was performed to characterize the effects of a number of manufacturing errors on bearing forces and critical tooth stress in the elements of a planetary gear system. Some tolerance control guidelines for managing bearing forces and critical stress are deduced from the results. The carrier indexing error for the planet assembly and planet runout error are the most critical factors in reducing the planet bearing force and maximizing load sharing, as well as in reducing the critical stress.
The moisture-dependent gelation characteristics of five different proteins are evaluated to understand the modification of gel strength when they are added in surimi gel. Compressive force and penetration force of protein gels gradually decreased with increase of moisture level, with showing markedly decrease at certain point of moisture level called critical moisture level. The critical moisture level for gelation of SPI-1, SPI-2, EW, WPC and LA were 79.4%, 81.6%, 91.4%, 87,8% and 84.7%, respectively. Beyond this critical level of water, protein gel matrix begins to lose its water binding and structural integrity. The mnisture that was not re tained by a protein was available to diluting the protein matrix and eventually weakened the overall gel strength. EW and MPI showed higher water retention than those of SPI, WPC and LA. The compressive force of SPI, WPC and LA-incorporated surimi gel at the varying moisture levels strongly correlated with the amount if water retained at corresponding moisture level within those protein (r=0.99).

The critical heat flux (CHF) on a heat transfer surface with nanostructures is known to be significantly better than that on flat surfaces. Several physical mechanisms have been proposed to explain this phenomenon. However, almost all studies conducted so far have been qualitative, and a generalized theory has not yet been established. In this study, we developed a quantitative mechanism for CHF enhancement on a surface with nanostructures, based on vapor recoil and surface adhesion forces. We focused on the increase in the length of the triple contact line owing to the formation of nanostructures and the adhesion force between them and the liquid.

The failure of civil engineering systems is a consequence of decision making under uncertain conditions. Generally, buried flexible pipes are designed for their transversal behavior to prevent from the important failure mode of buckling. However, the interaction effects between soil and pipe are neglected and the uncertainties in their properties are usually not considered in pipe design. In this regard, the present research paper evaluates the effects of these uncertainties on the uncertainty of the critical buckling hoop force of flexible pipes shallowly buried using the subgrade reaction theory (Winkler model) and First-Order Second-Moment (FOSM) method. The results show that the structural uncertainties of the studied pipes and those of the soil properties have a significant effect on the uncertainty of the critical buckling hoop force, and therefore taking into account these latter in the design of the shallowly flexible pipes for their buckling behavior is required.

A new nonlocal higher order shear deformation theory (HSDT) is developed for buckling properties of single graphene sheet. The proposed nonlocal HSDT contains a new displacement field which incorporates undetermined integral terms and contains only two variables. The length scale parameter is considered in the present formulation by employing the nonlocal differential constitutive relations of Eringen. Closed-form solutions for critical buckling forces of the graphene sheets are obtained. Nonlocal elasticity theories are used to bring out the small scale influence on the critical buckling force of graphene sheets. Influences of length scale parameter, length, thickness of the graphene sheets and shear deformation on the critical buckling force have been examined.

Dynamics of a rotating cantilever beam near its critical angular speed is investigated in this paper. The external, force is idealized as a periodic function which has the same period as the rotati ng frequency of the beam. The equations of motion are derived and transformed into a dimensionless form. A prescribed spin-up motion is employed for the rotating motion. Numerical study shows that the steady state and the transient responses of the beam are affected by the spin-up time constant and there exists a time constant at which the maximum transient response becomes minimum.
This paper presents the dynamic stability of a cantilevered Timoshenko beam with a concentrated mass, partially attached to elastic foundations, and subjected to a follower force. Governing equations are derived from the extended Hamilton's principle, and FEM is applied to solve the discretized equation. The influence of some parameters such as the elastic foundation parameter, the positions of partial elastic foundations, shear deformations, the rotary inertia of the beam, and the mass and the rotary inertia of the concentrated mass on the critical flutter load is investigated. Finally, the optimal attachment ratio of partial elastic foundation that maximizes the critical flutter load is presented.
In order to improve adhesive force of TiN film, we sputtered titanium as interlayer before TiN deposition by Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapour Deposition. We observed changes of hardness and adhesion at a various thickness of titanium interlayer and also examined analysis. At the critical thickness of the titanium interlayer(about $0.2{\mu}$), adhesive force of TiN films were promoted mostly. But over the critical thickness, a marked reduction of adhesive force was showed, because of the internal stress of titanium interlayer. From AES analysis, the adhesion improvement of TiN films was mainly caused by nitrogen diffusion into titanium interlayer during TiN deposition process which relieved stress concentration at TiN coating-substrate interface.
