In situ 법에 의한 Cu-Nb3Sn 복합재료선재의 초전도특성과 이에 미치는 Ti의 영향(I) (Superconducting Properties of in situ Formed Multifilamentary Cu - Nb3Sn Composites and the Effects of Ti Addition on the Superconducting Properties (I))

  • The Cu - $Nb_3Sn$ composites wire as a superconducting material was prepared by in situ method as follow: Cu - 15wt.% Nb alloys which were melted in a high -frequency induction furnace and casted in bar were cold-worked up to the final diameter of 0.24 mm, electroplated with Sn, pre-treated in two steps and then diffused at $550{\sim}650^{\circ}C$ for 24 ~ 96 hrs. The overall $J_c$ and $T_c$ of the specimens were measured by the four point-probe method at 10 K in the magnetic field of 0 Tesla. The overall $J_c$ of the composites wire which diffused at $550^{\circ}C$ after pre-treating in two steps were generally higher than those of the wire at either $600^{\circ}C$ or $650^{\circ}C$. For the specimens diffused at $550^{\circ}C$, the overall $J_c$ were increased until 72 hrs. of diffusion time and then decreased. However, in case of diffusion at $600^{\circ}C$ and $650^{\circ}C$, the overall $J_c$ were gradually decreased from the beginning. The maximum overall $J_c$ obtained in this experiment was $1.3{\times}10^4\;A/cm^2$, which was measured for the specimen diffused at $550^{\circ}C$ for 72 hrs. When the specimens were diffused at $550^{\circ}C$ for 72 hrs, after pre-treating, the measured critical temperature, $T_c$ was 16.19 K. Similar $T_c$ value were obtained in other specimens regardless of diffusion time and temperature.

Suppression of the ER-Localized AAA ATPase NgCDC48 Inhibits Tobacco Growth and Development

  • CDC48 is a member of the AAA ATPase superfamily. Yeast CDC48 and its mammalian homolog p97 are implicated in diverse cellular processes, including mitosis, membrane fusion, and ubiquitin-dependent protein degradation. However, the cellular functions of plant CDC48 proteins are largely unknown. In the present study, we performed virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) screening and found that silencing of a gene encoding a tobacco CDC48 homolog, NgCDC48, resulted in severe abnormalities in leaf and shoot development in tobacco. Furthermore, transgenic tobacco plants (35S:anti-NgCDC48), in which the NgCDC48 gene was suppressed using the antisense RNA method, exhibited severely aberrant development of both vegetative and reproductive organs, resulting in arrested shoot and leaf growth and sterile flowers. Approximately 57-83% of 35S:anti-NgCDC48 plants failed to develop mature organs and died at early stage of development. Scanning electron microscopy showed that both adaxial and abaxial epidermal pavement cells in antisense transgenic leaves were significantly smaller and more numerous than those in wild type leaves. These results indicate that NgCDC48 is critically involved in cell growth and development of tobacco plants. An in vivo targeting experiment revealed that NgCDC48 resides in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) in tobacco protoplasts. We consider the tantalizing possibility that CDC48-mediated degradation of an as-yet unidentified protein(s) in the ER might be a critical step for cell growth and expansion in tobacco leaves.

BES 기법을 이용한 자연환기식 육계사의 난방에너지 분석 (Analysis of Heating Load of a Naturally Ventilated Broiler House using BES Simulation)

  • Most of the broiler houses in Korea have experienced problems on controlling the environmental conditions such as suitability, stability and uniformity of rearing condition inside the broiler house. It is very critical which if not properly controlled, would cause serious stress on the chickens. It is therefore urgent to develop optimum designs of naturally ventilated broiler house which is appropriate to the four seasons of Korea. Field experiment for this matter is very difficult to conduct due to the unpredictable and uncontrollable weather condition. In this study, the heating load of a naturally ventilated broiler house was calculated using TRANSYS 15 BES program while internal climate and thermal condition were computed using Fluent 6.2. The computed resulted of the conventional ventilation system (A) and upgraded ventilation system (B) (Seo et al, 2007) were compared with each other for cold season. The results of the Building Energy Simulation(BES) indicated that the system B, the upgraded ventilation system made 8% lower total heating load and 47% lower at only the broiler zone compared to the conventional broiler house. Considering the entire broiler house, the existence of middle ceiling made the heating energy 11% lower required than without middle ceiling. Accordingly, the system B with middle ceiling was found to save heating energy by 20% in average. This study showed that the BES program can be a very powerful to effectively compute the energy loads of agricultural building while the energy load is very close related to ventilation efficiency.

Biomass Partitioning during Early Growth Stage of Soybean in Response to Planting Time

  • Seedling establishment of soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] is a critical factor in production system and cultural practices. The objective of this study was to identify the components of soybean seedling developments encompassing planting dates and cultivars that respond to emergence, early growth stage and dry matter accumulation. Three soybean cultivars, Hwangkeumkong, Shinpaldalkong 2, and Pungsannamulkong, were planted at Baegsan silty loam soil. Planting date was May 13, June 3, and June 24 in 2001. Sprinkler irrigation was accompanied with 30mm after seeding for three planting dates. Soybean seedlings were sampled at the growth stages from VE to V5. Days to emergence of soybean seedlings were taken 8 at May 13 and 5 at June 24 plantings. Emergence percentage was over 90 at three planting dates. May 13 planting took 33 days and June 24 planting was 25 days for reaching V5 growth stage. Cotyledon number was decreased after V2. Significant cultivar difference was found in cotyledon dry weight until V2 which differed in seed dry weights at the planting times. Leaf and total dry weights of soybean seedlings were not differed from V1 to V3 among planting dates and cultivars. Leaf water contents were generally ranged 78 to 85%. Branch was appeared from V4. Leaf/stem ratio among cultivars was similar at five growth stages and gradually increased from 2.1 at V1 to 2.8 at V5. The results based on this experiment indicated that seedling establishment of soybean was continued from VE to V3 growth stages affecting mainly by planting date and soil moisture.

도로교통이용자 측면을 고려한 새로운 분석방법 개발 (A New Approach for Incorporating Transportation User Perception into Transportation Engineering)

  • 교통 이용자는 교통시스템의 세 가지 주요 구성요인인 이용자, 운송수단, 그리고 도로시설 중의 하나로써 교통서비스와 교통안전 등을 고려할 때 매우 중요한 요소이다. 하지만, 지금까지 교통공학의 연구는 주로 도로시설 및 주행환경에 집중되어 왔고, 실제적 구체인 교통 이용자의 측면에 대해서는 많은 연구가 진행되지 못해 왔다. 이러한 교통 이용자의 인지 및 만족도(transportation user perception)를 평가하는데 있어서, 기존 방법론은 많은 한계를 안고 있다. 이는 인간의 인지/판단 과정(Human thought process)이 매우 주관적이고, 복잡하며, 평가자의 개별적인 특성 및 상황적인 특성에 따라 그 결과가 달라질 수 있기 때문이다. 또한 자신의 인지/만족도를 평가하는 데 있어 우리 인간은 이를 수량화하기 보다는 언어적인 평가방법에 익숙하기 때문이다. 이러한 교통이용자 측면을 교통공학에 보다 구체적으로 접목시키기 위한 노력으로, 본 연구에서는 교통이용자 측면을 고려한 교통공학의 패러다임 전환을 위한 필요성과 배경을 언급하고자 한다. 이를 위해 교통이용자 측면을 고려한 서비스수준 평가에 관한 연구를 중심으로 사례연구를 분석하여 향후 연구방향을 제시하고, 교통전문가와 교통이용자를 대상으로 한 설문조사결과를 분석하여 교통이용자의 인지정보의 다양성과 주관성을 설명하였다. 끝으로 이러한 교통이용자의 인지정보를 평가하기 위한 대안적인 방법을 제시하고, 이를 이용하여 연구된 다양한 선행연구를 제시함으로써 제안한 방법에 대한 적용 가능성을 모색하였다.

계란의 난각 처리와 보관 방법에 따른 품질 변화 (Changes of egg Quality according to eggshell treatment and storage condition)

  • Egg has been considered as one of the most important food sources in both nutritionally and economically. However, because the hazards of egg flow chains' complexity from producers to consumers and the insufficiency of cold chain systems in Korea are still remained, preventive measures for egg safety should be established. This experiment was carried out to investigate the changes of egg qualify during storage in order to find out the proper storage condition and eggshell treatment. Eggs were stored at cold condition $(5^{\circ}C,\;relative\;humidity;\;RH:\;65\pm3\%)$ and room Condition $(1st: Sep\; 6\~Nov\; 15,\;2001,\; 10\~30^{\circ}C,\;RH\;41\~86\%,\;2nd;\; Dec\;13,\;2001\~Feb\;21,\;2002,\;4\~23^{\circ}C,\;RH\;36\~89\%)$ after eggshell treatment (unwashed, washed and coated egg) during'10 weeks and examined weight loss and interior quality periodically. Weight loss was in decreasing order room washed > room unwashed > cold washed > cold unwashed > room coated > cold coated egg. And, Haugh unit was decreasing order room washed > room unwashed > room coated > cold washed > cold unwashed > cold coated egg. Our findings show that both coated eggs and refrigeration reduces the rate of decline in Haugh units and egg weight. And, washed eggs had lower average Haugh units and a higher weight loss than any of the eggshell treatment in both storage conditions. Conclusively, for washing eggshell, 150 ppm of sodium hypochlorite, regular exchange and temperature control of water should be consistent and also eggs should be dried immediately after washing. Also, national guidelines for temperature and moisture of storage places, transportation and expiration data should be established to keep quality and weight loss of eggs. Storage temperature that is a critical factor in the quality and safety of eggs should be kept under 12'c and labelling of expiration date should be obligatory.

사석방파제 위에 피복한 Rakuna-IV의 안정공식 (Stability Formula for Rakuna-IV Armoring Rubble-Mound Breakwater)

  • 본 연구에서는 사석 방파제 위에 피복한 Rakuna-IV에 대하여 파랑조건과 구조물의 경사를 변화시키며 51가지 실험을 수행하여 안정공식을 유도하였다. 안정공식에서 안정수는 상대피해, 파의 개수, 구조물 경사 및 surf similarity parameter의 함수로 표시된다. 안정공식은 권파와 쇄기파에 대하여 따로따로 유도되었으며, 둘 중 안정수를 크게 계산하는 공식을 사용한다. 또한 권파와 쇄기파의 경계가 되는 critical surf similarity parameter를 제시하였다. 마지막으로, Hudson 공식에서 사용되는 안정계수에 익숙한 기술자들에게 Rakuna-IV의 안정성을 설명하기 위하여, 대표적인 권파와 쇄기파 조건에 대하여 유의파고의 변화에 따른 Rakuna-IV의 소요중량을 계산하고, 이를 몇몇 다른 안정계수를 사용한 Hudson 공식의 결과와 비교하였다.

  • 생산기반의 정비와 우량품종의 육성보급 및 재배기술의 개선 등이 상당한 수준에 도달한 현재의 우리나라 수도수량의 생산성향상을 위하여 그 제한요인의 하나인 단위면적당 영화수를 적정하게 확보코자 영화수형성에 미치는 기온과 일사의 상호작용의 영향을 지역별로 분석하였던 바 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 현재 우리나라 수도수량을 크게 제한하는 요인은 영화수와 등숙비율이었으며 통일계 품종은 등숙비율이, 일본형 품종은 영화수부족이 더 크게 영향하였다. 2 단위면적당 영화수는 생식생장기의 일사량이 많을수록, 일평균 기온은 23$^{\circ}C$에서 28$^{\circ}C$범위내에서는 낮을 수록, 그리고 기상소모지수가 작을 수록 증가하였다. 3. 기상소모지수를 산출함에 있어서 한계온도는 1$0^{\circ}C$를, 일조시수보다는 일사량을 적용하는 것이 합리적이었다. 4. 영화수에 미치는 기상소모지수의 영향은 전 생식생장기에 비해 출수전 15일간에서 컸다.

벼 도복 관련형질과 포장도복과의 관계 (Relationship Between Lodging-Related Characteristics and Field Lodging in Rice)

  • 벼의 도복에 관련하는 형질들의 포장도복과의 관련정도를 밝혀 벼의 이도복성육종의 기초자료를 제공코져 1900년대에서 1980년대에 재배 또는 육성된 10품종을 재배하여 실험한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1 포장도복정도와 관련정도가 높은 형질들은 간장, 단위간하중(W/l), 단위 직경휨모멘트(W1/d), 도복지수(L), 하중비(W1/P), 임계도 복하중지수 (Ws$^2$/l$^4$)등 이었다. 2. 간장은 포장도복과 높은 상관(r=0.7607)을 보이나 간장만으로 품종의 도복정도를 판정하기는 미흡하였다 3. 측정의 난역도와 소모되는 시간을 고찰해 볼 때 도복저항성을 판정하는데 유용할 형질들은 간장, W/l, W1/d, Ws$^2$/l$^4$이었다. 4. 간경, 줄기단면적, 간벽의 두께, 줄기단면의 2차 관성 모멘트는 포장도복과 아무런 상관관계를 보이지 않았다. 5. 좌절강도(S)는 포장도복과 유의한 부의 상관 (r=-0.3986)을 보였다.

Peltier Heating-Assisted Low Temperature Plasma Ionization for Ambient Mass Spectrometry

  • Low temperature plasma (LTP) ionization mass spectrometry (MS) is one of the widely used ambient analysis methods which allows soft-ionization and rapid analysis of samples in ambient condition with minimal or no sample preparation. One of the major advantages of LTP MS is selective analysis of low-molecular weight, volatile and low- to medium-polarity analytes in a sample. On the contrary, the selectivity for particular class of compound also implies its limitation in general analysis. One of the critical factors limiting LTP ionization efficiency is poor desorption of analytes with low volatility. In this study, a home-built LTP ionization source with Peltier heating sample stage was constructed to enhance desorption and ionization efficiencies of analytes in a sample and its performance was evaluated using standard mixture containing fatty acid ethyl esters (FAEEs). It was also used to reproduce the previous bacterial identification experiment using pattern-recognition for FAEEs. Our result indicates, however, that the bacterial differentiation from FAEE pattern recognition using LTP ionization MS still has many limitations.
