Mostly used sensors have wired powering and two-way cable systems. It is difficult to employ wired sensor network in ubiquitous era because of a number of sensors and cables. Therefore, sensor networks move from wired systems to wireless systems for the future. However, the power source is a critical obstacle for wireless sensornodes. This research represents the new power source which supplies energy sensor node, maintains over 10 years, and thus replaces batteries with limit of lifetime. The system with piezo materials scavenges extra energies such as vibration and acceleration from the environment. Then it converts the scavenged mechanical energy to electrical energy for powering a sensor, a controller and a circuit for regulating voltage and transmitting sensor value. This study explains the properties of piezo material through theoretical analysis and experiments, and demonstrates powering sensor and transmitting data with stored energy (35mJ) for 14 sec. The developed system provides a solution to overcome the critical problem of making up wireless sensor networks.
This paper deal with the critical fluid velocity response of nanocomposite pipe conveying fluid based on numerical method. The pressure of fluid is obtained based on perturbation method. The motion equations are derived based on classical shell theory, energy method and Hamilton's principle. The shell is reinforced by nanoparticles and the distribution of them are functionally graded (FG). The mixture rule is applied for obtaining the equivalent material properties of the structure. Differential quadrature method (DQM) is utilized for solution of the motion equations in order to obtain the critical fluid velocity. The effects of different parameters such asCNT nanoparticles volume percent, boundary conditions, thickness to radius ratios, length to radius ratios and internal fluid are presented on the critical fluid velocity response structure. The results show that with increasing the CNT nanoparticles, the critical fluid velocity is increased. In addition, FGX distribution of nanoparticles is the best choice for reinforcement.
Some particular bound state energies of an electron, under Coulomb potential field, confined in a two-dimensional circle and a three-dimensional sphere are analytically derived. The derivation shows that the electron cannot be bound in a negative energy state when the circle (or sphere) is smaller than a certain critical size. The critical size dependency on the strength of Coulomb potential and the angular momentum of the electron is also analytically derived. This system mimics quantum dots. Therefore the derivation provides new information on a minimum critical size of quantum dots with hydrogenic impurity.

In this paper, we study the existence and multiplicity of nontrivial solutions for a p-Kirchhoff equation involving critical Sobolev-Hardy exponent by using variational methods and we need to estimate the energy levels.
This paper deals with the study on the rotordynamic and experimental analysis of turbine-generator system connected with a magnetic coupling. Although magnetic coupling has been used to torque transmission of chemical processing pump rotating at under 3,600rpm, magnetic coupling in this study is applied to high-speed turbine-generator system using a working fluid that is refrigerant such as ammonia or R-124a. Results of rotordynamic design analysis are as follows. The first, shaft diameter nearest to outer hub of magnetic coupling has a big effect on the $1^{st}$ critical speed of generator rotor. The second, if the $1^{st}$ critical speeds of turbine rotor and generator rotor have enough to separation margin in comparison to rated speed, the $1^{st}$ critical speed of turbine-magnetic coupling-generator rotor train has enough to separation margin regardless of connection stiffness of magnetic coupling. The analytical FE model is guaranteed by impact test on the prototype and condition monitoring such as measurements of vibration and bearing temperature is also performed.

This paper presents the idea of a smart load that can adjust the input power flow based on the intermittent power available from RESs (Renewable Energy Resources) to regulate the line voltage, and draw a constant power from the grid. To this effect, an innovative power flow controller is presented based on a Resistive ES (Electric Spring) in combination with a PEAT (Power Electronics based Adjustable Transformer), which can effectively shape the load power flow at the subnetwork level. With a PEAT incorporated in the step down transformer at the grid side, the proposed controller can supply non-critical loads through local RESs, and the critical loads can draw a relatively constant power from the grid. If there is an abundance of power produced by the RESs, the controller can supply both non-critical loads and critical loads through the RES, which significantly reduces the power demand from the grid. The principle, practicality, stability analysis, and controller design are presented. In addition, simulation results show that the power flow controller performs well in shaping the load power flow at the subnetwork level, which decreases the power demand on the grid. Experimental results are also provided to show that the controller can be realized.
Plastic buckling of tubular columns has been attributed to rotational instability of plastic hinges. The present study aimed to characterize the plastic hinges for two different grades of strain-hardening, examined in mild-steel (MS) and stainless-teel (SS) tubes with un-strengthened and strengthened conditions. At the primary stage, the formerly tested experimental specimens were simulated using full-scale FE models considering nonlinear response of the materials, then to estimate the characteristics of the plastic hinges, a meso model was developed from the critical region of the tubes and the moment-rotation diagrams were depicted under pure bending conditions. By comparison of the relative rotation diagram obtained by the full-scale models with the critical rotation under pure bending, the length and critical rotation of the plastic hinges under eccentric axial load were estimated. The stress and displacement diagrams indicated the mechanism of higher energy absorption in the strengthened tubes, compared to unstrengthened specimens, due to establishment of stable wrinkles along the tubes. The meso model showed that by increasing the critical rotation in the strengthened MS tube equal to 1450%, the energy absorption of the tube has been enhanced to 2100%, prior to collapse.
One of the critical issues in a sensor network concerns the detection of changes in data streams. Recently presented change detection schemes primarily use a sliding window model to detect changes. In such a model, a distance function is used to compare two sliding windows. Therefore, the performance of the change detection scheme is greatly influenced by the distance function. With regard to sensor nodes, however, energy consumption constitutes a critical design concern because the change detection scheme is implemented in a sensor node, which is a small battery-powered device. In this paper, we present a comparative study of various distance functions in terms of execution time, energy consumption, and detecting accuracy through simulation of speech signal data. The simulation result demonstrates that the Euclidean distance function has the highest performance while consuming a low amount of power. We believe our work is the first attempt to undertake a comparative study of distance functions in terms of execution time, energy consumption, and accuracy detection.
The International Criticality Safety Benchmark Evaluation Project (ICSBEP) is under way for the purpose identifying, evaluating, and compiling benchmark critical experiment data into a standardized format that allows criticality analysts to easily use the data to validate calculational methods and cross sections. As part of this activity, PNL30-35 experiments, which had been adopted as benchmark problems by CSEWG in 1970s, were reevaluated, which results in some additions and modifications: changes in fuel number density, modification to the experimental keff, modifications to the soluble boron concentration for PNL-31, and addition of an uncertainty in the benchmark-model k$_{eff}$./.
