The Creativity in Decoration Designs with Coptic symbols

  • This research aims to enrich the field of decorative designs for the T-shirts of youth clothes. Youth T-shirts have been chosen because they are essential apparel and one of the most important casualwear. T-shirts are probably the number one item sold across the world. Every tourist shop has many of them, worldwide. The decorative ideas have been inspired from some symbols of Coptic arts. This incorporates the cultural power of Coptic art as a vital starting point for new design ideas and development of products. However, the purpose of this research is to make our youth know something about the Coptic arts of Egypt, as a part of their history, and on the other hand for tourists as well. Youth are very suitable tools for spreading our new ideas where they are energetic and full of life. In this work, twenty-one designs are presented inspired from ten Coptic symbols. Five designs have been implemented in three different ways of printing and embroidery, i.e. there are fifteen models have been formed. An opinion poll has been occurred for two groups of youth, one is younger and the other is older, hence T-test has been applied. It is clarified that our designs are approved by the younger group than the older one. The results of this work can offer some good reasons for further investigations on the fashionable decorated designs for youth and tourists as well; in addition to the decoration education development.

Development and implementation of STEAM Program based on Scratch Programming (스크래치 프로그래밍 중심의 STEAM 교육 프로그램 개발 및 적용)

  • As growing more and more interested in programming education, we need to concerned how to teach programming in school. We are presented the STEAM program based on scratch programming as a way of programming education for elementary students. We were developed STEAM program that do digital storytelling using scratch about selected science topic in order to raise interests about science and educate programming. In order to verify the effectiveness of the educational program, we analyzed the results of pre- and post-test about GALT, TTCT of experimental group and comparison group is comprised of 6th grade elementary students. In the analysis results, the education program we developed affected positive impacts on creativity, logical thinking of elementary school students.

A Study on The Possibility of The Convergence Education In Engineering (공학 분야의 학문융합교육 가능성 분석)

  • This study aims to identify on the possibility of the convergence education in engineering. Delphi survey on a panel of experts was chosen to be the main methodology for this study, drawing the main factors of convergence education in engineering. From Oct. 10 to Nov. 25, 2013, a three-round Delphi survey was implemented to collect data. A panel of eighteen experts were involved in this survey. For statistical processing, descriptive statistics including frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation were carried out along with internal reliability test on the survey instrument. First, the possible convergence of disciplines in engineering were found to Design, Industrial design, ICT, Health care services, Video media, Business and Administration, Organizational psychology, Sociology, Humanities and Aesthetics. Second, the convergence education factors to be most important demanded creativity, idea generation techniques such as the expression of thought communication skills, technical expertise in the field per line, understanding of basic knowledge, verification of common elements among different disciplines, understanding of other disciplines fusion in engineering, artistry and imagination, etc. Third, requirements for the talented person of convergence were the open mind and enthusiasm, creative imagination, accept the opinions of others, skills capacity as a creative expression, and challenges. Above-mentioned requirements are found to be the necessary elements for convergence education.

  • There are two major factors to use NoSQL in order to manage Big Data; to increase productivity of an application programmer and to increase data access performance. But, in many business fields, this hopeful plan lacks careful consideration. For efficient and effective management and analysis of Big Data, it is necessary to perform a test with the expectation for productivity and performance of the application programmer before deciding whether NoSQL technique is used or not. In this paper, we research on programmer productivity, data access performance, risk distribution, and so forth.

  • During the 'Cold War', DoD had focused on the high performance and timely acquisition which enabled quick field out the superior weapons than the enemy regardless of acquisition cost. But, after the cold war, the focus has been changed to the 'cost effective acquisition' of weapon systems because of tremendous investment cost & economic theory. The U.S. DoD has been tried to make 'the most effective acquisition system'(AR, Acquisition Reform) from mid-80's with their enough experienced program data, and as a result, they had launched the new acquisition procedure - DoD 5000 series - in 1996. DoD is continuously doing the study and making several improvements on the procedure after it had been once announced. On Oct 30. 2002, DoD noticed that they cancelled the DoD 5000 series documents(5000.1, 5000.2, 5000.2-R) and 5000.2-R will be reissued as a guide. The most recent version which focused on 1) evolutionary acquisition and spiral development, 2) procedure for future technology systems including software and IT, 3) supplement on the area of efficiency, flexibility, creativity and innovation of old system was issued by May 12. 2003. This article suggests a 'good idea' based on the reviewing of these DoD efforts for our defense acquisition regulation and procedure to go. It includes the CAIV concept application, IPT utilization, T&E method, cost or price based contract etc-all for the effective acquisition.

The Effect of Readiness to Self-Directed Learning on Nursing Practice Competence (간호사의 학습 관련 자기주도성이 간호실무 수행능력에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate nurses readiness to self-directed learning and its correlations with nursing practice competence in a tertiary hospital in Seoul, Korea. Methods: A cross sectional survey design was utilized to assess nurses readiness to self-directed learning and job performance. The data used in this study were obtained from 286 nurses who have been working on general ward for over 1 year. Data were analyzed by ANOVA, t-test, Pearson's correlation analysis, and multiple regression using SAS 9.1 program. Results: The mean score of the readiness to self-directed learning is 3.56 and that of nursing practice competence is 2.71. The readiness to self-directed learning was statistically different according to level of education, and clinical work experience. Nursing practice competence was also significantly different according to level of education, clinical work experience, marital status, age, and working division. The readiness to self-directed learning and nursing practice competence seem to have significant positive correlation to each other (r=.555, p<.001). The readiness to self-directed learning explains 32.0% of nursing practice competence (F=20.20, p<.001). Conclusion: These findings indicate that program development for enhancing the readiness to self-directed learning is needed to improve nursing practice competence. We also need continuous efforts to improve nurses initiatives and creativity.

The Role of Intrinsic Motivation in the Relationship Between Psychological Capital and Innovative Performance: Empirical Evidence from Vietnam

  • This research examines the mediation of intrinsic motivation (IP) in the relationship between psychological capital (Psycap) and innovative performance (IP) in the educational environment of the transitioning economy. A test was based on a convenient sample of 440 University lecturers participating in a hardcopy survey was collected from ten universities and colleges in Southern Vietnam, from April 2020 to December 2020, while social isolation is strictly enforced by the government (Covid-19). The hypotheses are then proposed and conducted using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and the structural equation modeling technique (SEM). The testing structural model results reveal that all the hypotheses are satisfied at the 5% significance level. Intrinsic motivation is a partial mediator in the linkage between psychological capital and innovative performance. These findings suggest that the importance of Psychological Capital (PsyCap) of workers promotes job performance in general, especially in individuals' creativity in a transitioning market, Vietnam. In addition, Based on the research results, several solutions are also proposed to promote innovative performance in the conditions of education in Vietnam. Besides, the author also gave a few comments on the findings as well as the limitations that this study encountered, especially how the survey samples were collected.

Math Creative Problem Solving Ability Test for Identification of the Mathematically Gifted Middle School Students (중학교 수학 영재 판별을 위한 수학 창의적 문제해결력 검사 개발)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a math test for identification of the mathematically gifted on the basis of their math creative problem solving ability and to evaluate the goodness of the test. Especially, testing reliability and validity of scoring method on the basis of fluency only for evaluation of math creative problem solving ability was one of the main purposes. Ten closed math problems and 5 open math problems were developed requiring math thinking abilities such as intuitive insight, organization of information, inductive and deductive reasoning, generalization and application, and reflective thinking. The 10 closed math test items of Type I and the 5 open math test items of Type II were administered to 1,032 Grade 7 students who were recommended by their teachers as candidates for gifted education programs. Students' responses were scored by math teachers. Their responses were analyzed by BIGSTEPS and 1 parameter model of item analyses technique. The item analyses revealed that the problems were good in reliability, validity, item difficulty and item discriminating power even when creativity was scored based on the single criteria of fluency. This also confirmed that the open problems which are less-defined, less-structured and non-entrenched were good in measuring math creative problem solving ability of the candidates for math gifted education programs. In addition, it was found that the math creative problem solving tests discriminated applicants for the two different gifted educational institutions.

Analysis of the Relationship of Computer Science Literacy to Giftedness in Gifted Elementary School Students (초등 영재의 정보과학교과 수행능력과 영재성 간의 관계분석)

  • A basic ability test is conducted in recent days to screen gifted students who could make a contribution to the enhancement of national competitiveness in knowledge-based information society. A basic ability is here defined as an ability related to creativity and thinking faculty, and CS literacy is ruled out, though it seems that everybody needs CS literacy in knowledge-based information society. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between CS literacy and giftedness. The subjects in this study were 61 gifted students. The selected students participated in an CS program during a six-week period of time in order to find out the effect of the program. And it's found that there were gaps among the students in CS literacy according to the level of giftedness, and information science literacy has a statistically significant correlation to giftedness. Therefore a screening test of gifted students should cover CS literacy, as CS literacy seems to be mandatory for every field of information society.

Effects of SW Education Using App Inventor on Computational Thinking and Attitude towards Computer of Elementary School Students (앱 인벤터 활용 SW 교육이 초등학생의 컴퓨팅 사고력과 컴퓨터에 대한 태도에 미치는 영향)

  • SW education is considered important in the present age where various sciences converge. According to this tendency, SW education was included in the regular education course in Korea, which aims to develop the learner's CT. Therefore, researches on CT and educational tools are being activated. App Inventor is a simple app development tool that has many advantages over traditional tools. In this study, we developed and applied a SW instruction program that uses an App Inventor to develop CT for elementary school students. Moreover, CT was classified into two elements-calculative perception and calculative creativity- and performed tests after applying SW instruction programs. Furthermore, attitude towards computer were classified into three elements-c computer anxiety, computer preference, and computer confidence- and conducted tests. After performing paired t-test pretest-posttest matching samples on test outcomes, it was found that the CT of the learners who applied the program was increased, and the attitude towards computer also showed a positive change.
