  • This study aims at clarifying the spatial generative process of Borromini's architecture. The close examination of his sketches and the analysis of his major four works such as San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane (1634-1667), Sant'Ivo della Sapienza (1642-1660), Santa Maria dei Sette Dolori, Chapel (1643-1646), Collegio di Propaganda Fide, Chapel (1652-1667) show common features in the generation of space as follow. 1) The spatial generative process of Borromini's architecture is dominated by the plan of main space which is formulated from simple geometric elements into complexly folded space by mean of union, addition, copy and warping. 2) Borromini made various kinds of annexed space around the main space to create long and continuous circulation. 3) Borromini's architecture has a tendency to divide interior elevation into two parts, wall part and roof part by thick entablature. Moreover the entablature play important role to copy the figure of the plan of main space three-dimensionally. 4) Borromini tried to create the sense of depth through perspectival distortion and multi-focal space through the ceiling pattern.

  • This paper constructs a data base to create the Hull lines prior to piece manufacture and nesting steps with a personal computer using the data of created as the advanced software, TRIBON. The lines are plotted smoohtly, which are called the spline. The S/W is excellentlt estimated on the ptrcision among shipping exclusive S/W, which are currentlyused So, the S/W is mainly used as as shipping CAD program. High-cost H/W and high-performance S/W(TRIBON etc.) sre used with the bases of technique and capital power in the big shipbuilding yard; but small but small and medium-sized shipbuilding yard and related companycan't purchase dueto the high-cost product. To bring upthe small and medium sized shipbuilding yard lacking little competitive power, the data base S/W is joined with the CADRA of graphic S/W and is developed to create the Hull lines to be needed on as automatic cutting process usiing the personal computer.

  • Many web-based simulation environments have been proposed to create models and execute simulation through the Web. Although web-based simulation has the advantage of utilizing many computers connected to Internet, overhead of the web server and heavy traffic caused by Java RMI degrade the performance and scalability of simulation. In this paper, we design and implement web-based distributed simulator using Java for the scalability and performance. In addition, we can apply the proposed simulator to create model server and client engines in online game. We apply the proposed simulator to simulate ATM switch queueing model.

  • New technologie of information and interaction create ambiguous, multifaceted relationships between concepts and realities that once seemed clear and simple. The acvent of cyberspace implies the existence of cyberplaces and relationships among cyberspace and places that could be as or more complex then those that exist among the spaces and places of the non-digital world. Virtual reality-the current uses of infomation technologies to create replicas of places and processes in the world-offers a point of exploring such relationships. But more penetrating insights become evident in the examination of real virtuality-the uses of information technologies to enhance the experience of places in the world. Real virtuality offers geographers a variety of innovative and powerful tools for augmenting the effectiveness and domain of their craft. Widespread use of real virtuality by geograpgers will alter their use of data, methods, and theory in research, teaching, and practice.

  • The purpose of this study was to lay out child-friendly planning guidelines for environments in a bid to create residential environments geared toward backing up children's life. Earlier studies were reviewed to make a literature analysis to find out existing planning guidelines for environments, and small-group workshop was held to formulate down-to-earth planning guidelines. And a survey was conducted on the parents of selected children to assess the importance of the selected planning guidelines. The findings of the study were as follows: First, residential environments were categorized into housing spaces and outdoor playing spaces, and 25 and 28 planning guidelines for each field were prepared respectively. When a survey was implemented, all the 53 planning guidelines were rated as important or very important. Second, the guidelines for safety were considered very important, and the importance of the planning guidelines varied with children's age. The findings of the study suggest that the development of more reinforced criteria for children's safety is required to create child-friendly residential environments.

  • PURPOSE. This study aimed to create a digitized database of fabricated obturators to be kept for patients' potential emergency needs. MATERIALS AND METHODS. A chairside intraoral scanner was used to scan the surfaces of an acrylic resin obturator. The scanned data was recorded and saved as a single standard tessellation language file using a three-dimensional modeling software. A simulated obturator model was manufactured using fused deposition modeling technique in a three-dimensional printer. RESULTS. The entire obturator was successfully scanned regardless of its structural complexity, modeled as three-dimensional data, and stored in the digital system of our clinic at a relatively small size (19.6 MB). A simulated obturator model was then accurately manufactured from these data. CONCLUSION. This study provides a proof-of-concept for the use of digital technology to create a digitized database of obturators for edentulous maxillectomy patients.

  • The entire construction safety is significantly influenced by proper uses of temporary structures. However, in current practices, temporary structures are used without sufficient planning and analysis on their impact on safety. Consequently, problems in worker safety and loss of productivity are frequently caused related to temporary structures. This paper introduces an approach that uses Building Information Modeling (BIM) to automatically create temporary structures as part of construction plans and identifies potential safety hazards related to the temporary structures. In this study, the type of temporary structure is limited to scaffolding. Automation algorithms were developed and applied to (1) analyze daily construction site conditions (2) create required scaffolding objects, and (3) identify potential safety hazards related to scaffolding. A case study using a real-world construction project demonstrated that scaffolding objects were properly created based on user-input and potential safety hazards were successfully identified without human intervention.

  • This study aims to organize the research ways of interior design for clothing stores as a management strategy in the market changing rapidly. The public met their needs in a mass production system. However, the brand-name companies began to create the conditions of consumption for people, there appeared people with new lifestyles and new way of thoughts so that their propensity to consume resulted in consumption activities, and it become varied, individual, and highly qualified. Therefore, in view of consumers' priority, based on SI sales environment this paper aims to create a new image by re-designing the interior and furniture of shops which will help to enhance the image of brand name. Therefore, the brand-name companies will expect a large sale for the new product and it will apply to sales environments of other products and influence them. The purpose of this paper is to find a desirable way to increase sales efficiency for the companies. In order to get a concept and propriety of sales environment design, examined mutual relation to each study of interior design, marketing, and fashion design. Through referring to the documents research of these fields I could get a conception and basic structure for them. Based on the theoretical knowledge, this study was made to show to examine and generalize the existing sales environments and situations and set up a new concept for this. It will apply to interior design and store holds and present a new design alternative for improvement.

  • The purpose of this research is to investigate the strategies for problem solving used by teachers and students and obtain some information which would be useful to enhance the ability of problem solving of the students. For this purpose we apply the thinking aloud method to study 6 graders and 6 teachers who were asked to solve 5 word problems. And we create a coding system to analyze those strategies. Using this coding system, we code the examinees and problems. we come up with the following facts from our study. (1) The number of strategies used by teachers is less than that used by students. (2) The characteristic of the strategies used by students is to set up an equation. (3) There is deep relationship between understanding the question and choosing the successful strategies for problem solving. (4) The students use the inductive argument more often than the teachers in the case of nonroutine mathematical problem. (5) The student of high success rate have fewer strategies than the others. From the above facts. it proposes the following conclusion for the enhancement of the ability of problem solving: So far the teachers usually use a few typical strategies for problem solving. But they need to create various strategies for pqoblem solving. It makes it possible for the students to choose proper strategies according to their ability. The students need to be given nicely constructed problem with enough time.

  • "Is a given boy or girl gifted in physics\ulcorner" That is a very complicated question and it is not easy to answer it as creativity and talents have many aspects. The lecture is devoted to analysis of several of them. In particular, we shall discuss the following points: 1) "Poets in physics". Some pupils have a seldom ability to create very beautiful, intellectual constructions starting from very few assumptions. Any building consists of commonly used bricks or other building elements, any book contains only several tens of commonly used letters or other graphic elements, also any painting may be created by appropriate use of several colors. Some buildings are nice, some not. Some paintings are beautiful, some not. Certain pupils, by appropriate use of several simple laws, are able to create beautiful constructions. They are like poets writing poetry by using several tens of letters known to everybody. 2) "Free hunters". Some pupils solve even very typical problems in a very untypical ways. Their independence in thinking is especially valuable. 3) "Small discoverers". Even very rich syllabuses do not contain whole physics. Some pupils e.g. during solving problems discover laws or rules that are absent in the syllabus. For example, some of them are able to make use of symmetry or dimensional analysis without any preliminary knowledge of that matter. The considerations are illustrated with different examples taken from physics or mathematics. The subject is very large and, of course, we are not able to present the problem in a complete way.o present the problem in a complete way.
