In this study, to investigate the effects of herb aroma components, the BDI test was performed with the 124 students of the Youngdong University and the subjects whose score was 16 or higher were selected and allocated to the herb-extracted aroma-treated group and the non-treated group, 27 and 10 students for each group. The BDI and SDS tests were carried out at each stage (before and after the treatment, 10 days later and 30 days later). The result showed that the pre-treatment BDI test result was significantly different from all those of the post-treatment test, and the tests after 10 days and 30 days in the aroma-treated group. In the SDS test, the pre-treatment test result was significantly different from the results of the post-treatment test and the test after 10 days, while it was not significantly different from the result of the test after 30 days. Additionally, to verify whether the change within the group is larger than that by natural recovery or not, ANCOVA was performed with respect to the difference in the pre-treatment test score between the groups depending on whether the treatment was given or not, having the SDS pre-treatment score as the covariate, and the result showed that the post-treatment test scores were significantly different. Thus, it was verified that, if the SDS test score is considered as the depression indicator, the effect of aromatherapy was greater than the change by natural recovery. The difference in the post-treatment test score was analyzed depending on whether the treatment was given or not, having the BDI pre-treatment test score as the control variable, and the result showed that the post-treatment test scores were not significantly different. Based on such a theoretical verification, it is assumed that the nature-friendly treatment method using herb aroma components can be a great help in suppressing depression. Therefore, it is expected that herb aroma components can provide systematic therapeutic effect on the suppression of depression.

This study investigated the influences of Vee diagram and regulative metacognitive learning strategies upon 6th-graders' achievement, difficulty toward science lesson, self-efficacy, and learning approach. The Vee diagram and regulative metacognitive learning strategies were modified in a pilot study. Before instruction, an achievement test was administered, and its score was used as a blocking variable. A previous science grade was used as a covariate for post-achievement. Tests of difficulty toward science lesson, self-efficacy, and learning approach were also administered, and the test scores were used as covariates. After instruction, a researcher-made achievement test and post-tests of the above variables were administrated. Two-way ANCOVA results revealed that although there were no significant differences in the achievement test scores, the application subtest scores of the two treatment groups were significantly higher than those of the control group. There were no significant differences in the difficulty toward science lesson and learning approach, but self-efficacy scores for the students with Vee diagram and regulative metacognitive learning strategies were significantly higher than those of the other groups. The perceptions of the students using Vee diagram were also analyzed.

The effects of computer-assisted instruction (CAl) using molecular-level animation and worksheet upon students' achievement, conceptual understanding, and learning motivation were investigated. Treatment and control groups (2 classes) were selected from a girls' high school in Seoul, and taught about dissolution for 3 class hours. Before the instructions, the Patterns of Adaptive Learning Survey (PALS) was administered, and the grade for a previous science course was obtained. The PALS score was used as a covariate, and the other as a blocking variable. After the instructions, the achievement test, the conceptions test, and the Instructional Materials Motivation Scale (lMMS) were administered. Two-way ANCOVA results revealed that the scores of the CAl group in the achievement and the conceptions tests were significantly higher than those of the control group. The CAl group also performed better in all subtests of the IMMS except the subtest of relevance.
Purpose of this study is to compare and analyze effect of exercise intensity in complex training for 8 weeks on leptin, growth hormone, IGF-1, and body composition in middle school with intellectual disability. Subjects of this study were 26 middle school students, 9 in high-intensity group, 9 in middle-intensity group, and 8 in low-intensity group. To compare the difference from different exercise intensity, pre-value before training has been set as covariate and different exercise intensity has been set as independent variable, with changes in leptin, growth hormone, IGF-1, and body composition. Analysis of covariance (ANOVA) has been performed for data analysis and effect size ${\eta}^2$(eta) has been deduced. Result acquired from analyzed data is as following. First, when equal exercise has been imposed on middle school students with intellectual disability, in regard of exercise intensity, it was shown that leptin most decreased in middle-intensity, growth hormone most increased in middle-intensity, and IGF-1 increased in low-intensity. Second, in regard of body composition, low-intensity was most effective in increase of total body weight without fat. Decrease of body fat was most prominent in middle-intensity and increase of bone density, in low-intensity. Also, in further studies, study that differentiates subjects in gender and individual exercise performance is deemed mandatory.
Data from Hanwoo steers and bull calves were analyzed to see the phenotypic and genetic relationships between carcass traits from four different covariance models. Four models fit test station and test period as fixed effect of contemporary group and sire as random effect assuming paternal half-sib relationships among animals. Each model fits one of linear covariate (s) of different slaughter end points-age at slaughter in the first order, age at slaughter in the first and second order, slaughter weight or back fat thickness at 12-13th rib of cold carcass. Age at slaughter in its second order was not significant. Age at slaughter accounted for signifi- cant amount of genetic variances and covariances of carcass traits. Heritability estimates of back fat thickness, rib eye area, carcass weight, marbling score and dressing percentage were 0.34, 0.22, 0.24, 0.42 and 0.18, respectively at constant age basis. The genetic correlation between carcass weight and the other variables were all positive and low to high in magnitude. Genetic correlations between back fat thickness and rib eye area and between marbling score and dressing percentage were low but negative. Variance and covariance structure between these traits were shifted to a great extent when these variables were regressed on slaughter weight or on back fat thickness. These two covariates counteracted to each other but they adjusted each carcass variable or their interrelationship according to differential growth of body components, bone, muscle and fat. Slaughter weight tended to decrease genetic variances and covariances of carcass weight and between component traits and back fat thickness tended to increase those of rib eye area and between rib eye area and carcass weight.
