  • Continuing improvement of microprocessor performance involves in the devece size. This allow greater device speed, an increase in device packing density, and an increase in the number of functions that can reside on a single chip. However this has led to propagation delay, crosstalk noise, and power dissipation due to resistance-capacitance(RC) coupling become significant due to increased wiring capacitance, especially interline capacitance between the metal lines on the same metal level. Becase of pattering MSSQ (Methylsilsequioxane), we use RIE(Reactive ton Etching) which is a good anisotrgpy. Ti:LiNbO3 2×2 Optical Add/Drop Multiplexers Utilizing Acousto-Optic Effect

  • An integrated optical 2$\times$2 add/drop multiplexer in X-cut, Y-propagating LiNbO$_3$ has been demonstrated. The device consists of passive polarization splitters and acousto-optical mode converters with weighted coupling utilizing tapered acoustical directional couplers; their specific design and properties are discussed. The insertion loss has been measured to be about -8.16 ㏈ and -8.6 ㏈ for TE and TM polarizations, respectively. The device shows a 3 ㏈ bandwidth of 2.3 nm, a tuning rate 8.34 nm/MHz around λ = 1554 nm, and a sidelobe suppression of about 14.5 ㏈. Optimum operation is achieved with a RF drive power of about 43 ㎽. Multi-wavelength operation has been demonstrated.

  • 측면이 코어 가까이 연마된 단일모드 광섬유 위에 금속박막이 포함된 평면 도파로가 올려진 광섬유-평면도파로의 파장 및 편광 선택성에 관하여 이론 및 실험 결과를 보고한다. 금속 박막이 포함된 평면도파로의 특성을 구하기 위한 간단하지만 정확한 해석기법을 기술하였다. 소자를 1차원으로 등가화 시켜 결합모드 이론으로 소자의 거동을 분석하였다. 금속막의 두께와 최상부층 물질의 굴절률이 동작 특성에 미치는 영향을 측정하였고 그 결과는 설명 하였다.

  • Recently, piezoelectric transformer is applied to wide fields. Multi layer piezoelectric transformer has the advantage of high step up ratio, electromechanical coupling coefficient(Kp) and mechanical quality factor(Qm), but is indicated of peeling-phenomenon of electrode, rising sintering temperature made price of costly electrode. So in this study, it discuss on method for fabrication of rosen type piezoelectric transformers. For the fabrication as rosen type piezoelectric transformers, synthesized the powder using 0.01Pb$(ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$ - 0.08Pb$(Mn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$ - 0.91Pb$(Zr_{0506}Ti_{0496})O_3$ (abbreviated as PNN-PMN-PZT) ceramics. The density, microstructure, dielectric and piezoelectric properties as a function of sintering temperature were investigated. The results indicated that the optimized properties of ceramics were obtained at sintering temperature of 1200$^{\circ}C$, showed the value of $d_{33}$=273pC/N, $K_p$=0.60 $Q_m$=1585, ${\varepsilon}_r$=1454, density=7.917$g/cm^3$ and $tan{\delta}$=0.0064.

이차전지로 구동하기 위한 다른 발진 특성을 나타내는 조명용 광양자테 소자 개발 (Development of Photonic Quantum Ring Device with Different Oscillation Characteristics for Driving with Secondary Battery)

  • 최근 조명 산업이 중요한 분야로 인식되면서 PQR (Photonic Quantum Ring) 소자는 LED(Light Emitting Diode)를 대체할 수 있는 차세대 광원이 될 전망이다. 본 연구에서는 기존 연구와 유사한 결과를 검증하고, 소자의 광특성을 분석하기 위해 광섬유가 연결된 스테이지에 x, y, z 좌표를 입력하면 자동으로 이동하며, 또한, 소자에 광섬유를 근접시키는 NSOM (Near field scanning optical microscopy) 장치를 추가한 측정 시스템을 이용하여 소자의 광특성 실험과 공진 및 어레이 소자의 광특성 시뮬레이션을 통해 조명용 소자로 가능성을 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 메사와 홀 형태가 동시에 존재하는 메사 직경 40㎛, 홀 직경 3㎛의 소자를 제작하여 소자의 근접장으로 PQR 소자는 ㎂에서 동작하며, 메사와 홀 소자는 서로 독립적으로 구동됨을 관찰하였다. 위치에 따른 소자의 광파장 스펙트럼을 측정하여 메사와 홀 소자에 의한 커플링 현상을 처음으로 확인하였다.

광 패키징 및 인터커넥션 기술 (Optical Packaging and Interconnection Technology)

  • By the need for high-speed data transmission in PCB, the studies on the optical PCB has been conducted with optical interconnection and its packaging technology. Particularly, the polymer-based optical interconnection has been extensively studied with the advantages such as cost-effective and ease of process. For high-efficiency and passive alignment, the studies were performed using the 45 degree mirrors, MT connector, and etc. In this work, integrated PLC device and fiber alignment array block was fabricated by using imprint technology to solve the alignment and array problem of optical device and the optical fiber. The fabricated integrated block for optical interconnection of PLC device has achieved higher precision of decreasing the dimensional error of the patterns by optimization of process and its insertion loss has an average value of 4.03dB, lower than criteria specified by international standard. In addition, a optical waveguide with built-in lens has been proposed for high-efficiency and passive alignment. By simulation, it was confirmed that the proposed structure has higher coupling efficiency than conventional no-lens structure and has the broad tolerance for the spatial offset of optical waveguide.

Efficient Blue Light Emitting Diode by Using Anthracene Derivative with 3,5-Diphenylphenyl Wings at 9- and 10-Position

  • The novel blue light emitting material, 9,10-bis(3',5'-diphenylphenyl)anthracene (BDA) was synthesized by Suzuki coupling reaction and characterized by the measurements of 1H NMR, 13C NMR and FT-IR. The new anthracene derivative, which contains anthracene as a main core unit and 3',5'-diphenylphenyl group derivative as wings, has high fluorescence yield, good thermal stability, and high glass transition temperature at 188 oC. With the newly non-doped blue emitting material in the multilayer device structure, it was possible to achieve the current efficiency of 3.0 cd/A. The EL spectrum of the ITO/CuPc/α-NPD/BDA/Alq3/LiF/Al device showed a maximum wavelength (λmax) at 440 nm. The emitting color of device showed the blue emission (x,y) = (0.18,0.19) at 10 mA/cm2 in CIE (Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage) chromaticity coordinates.

진행파의 코리올리효과를 이용한 자가발진형 표면탄성파 초소형 자이로스코프 (A Self-Oscillation Type SAW Microgyroscope Based on the Coriolis Effect of Progressive Waves)

  • An 80MHz surface acoustic wave (SAW)-based gyroscope utilizing a progressive wave was developed on a piezoelectric substrate. The developed sensor consists of two SAW oscillators in which one is used for sensing element and has metallic dots in the cavity between input and output IDTs. The other is used for a reference element. Coupling of mode (COM) modeling was conducted to determine the optimal device parameters prior to fabrication. According to the simulation results, the device was fabricated and then measured on a rate table. When the device was subjected to an angular rotation, oscillation frequency differences between the two oscillators were observed because of the Coriolis force acting on the metallic dots. Depending on the angular rate, the difference of the oscillation frequency was modulated. The obtained sensitivity was approximately 52.35 Hz/deg.s within the angular rate range of 0~1000 deg/s. The performances of devices with three IDT structures for two kinds of piezoelectric substrates were characterized. Good thermal stability was also observed during the evaluation process.

Phenothiazine과 2,1,3-Benzothiadiazole을 포함한 Copolymer의 합성 및 Side-chain 치환에 따른 Photovoltaic 특성 연구 (Synthesis, Photovoltaic Properties and Side-chain Effect of Copolymer Containing Phenothiazine and 2,1,3-Benzothiadiazole)

  • 본 연구에서는 phenothiazine과 benzothiadiazole을 기반으로 하고, phenothiazine의 질소 위치에 다양한 side-chain을 치환한 고분자를 합성하였다. 합성된 고분자는 광학적, 전기화학적 분석 결과 300~700 nm에서 흡수를 보였고, -5.4 eV 정도의 이상적인 HOMO energy level를 갖는 특성을 확인하였다. 고분자와 $PC_{71}BM$을 광활성층으로 사용한 소자를 제작하였고, 측정결과 branched side-chain을 가지며 탄소수가 많은 P2HDPZ-bTP-OBT가 2.4%로 최대 광전변환효율을 갖는 것으로 확인되었다($V_{OC}$ : 0.74 V, $J_{SC}$ : $6.9mA/cm^2$, FF : 48.0%).
