  • The study is conducted to find out the impact of the country- and corporate-level governance and firm internationalization on stock liquidity of 120 listed firms in Japan, Hong Kong, Pakistan, and India. Panel data is used in the current study. The annual time span covered in the current study is 10 years. The current study explores results based on secondary data. The findings of the 'robust panel corrected standard error' estimator shows that the internationalization strategy of firms positively influences the stock liquidity. The internationalization strategy of multinational corporations proves to be an effective methodology for improving stock liquidity in the home market as well as abroad. The study also shows that a stronger relationship exists between stock liquidity and internationalization in those countries where the regulatory settings are effective, the judiciary system is efficient and shareholders' rights are protected. Corporate governance and stock liquidity are negatively associated. The study also finds a negative relationship between country-level governance mechanisms and stock liquidity. Whereas the 'robust panel corrected error' estimator shows a positive association between corporate governance mechanisms and firm internationalization. The study depicts that effective corporate governance motivates multinational companies to expand their business abroad.

  • It is an important work to measure the dimensions of underwater spent fuel assemblies in the nuclear power industry during the overhaul, to judging whether the spent fuel assemblies can continue to be used. In this paper, a three dimensional reconstruction method for underwater spent fuel assemblies of nuclear reactor based on linear structured light is proposed, and the topography and size measurement was carried out based on the reconstructed 3D model. Multiple linear structured light sensors are used to obtain contour size data, and the shape data of the whole spent fuel assembly can be collected by one-dimensional scanning motion. In this paper, we also presented a corrected model to correct the measurement error introduced by lead-glass and water is corrected. Then, we set up an underwater measurement system for spent fuel assembly based on this method. Finally, an underwater measurement experiment is carried out to verify the 3D reconstruction ability and measurement ability of the system, and the measurement error is less than ±0.05 mm.

  • Sometimes the observed data is too small to discriminate it from noise of the instrument. Say, the data can be recorded as below DL(Detection Level) value. Even though the data below Detection Level(BDL) is small vague, it can be resulted in wrong estimates for mean and variance. However, in practice, the BDL data is generally eliminated as N.D. (Not Detected) and do not record it in Korea. This study investigates the distributions according to the data values of ammonia concentration (NH$_3$-N) in Puyeo intake. Also we try to find out DL value and an appropriate method for the estimations of mean and variance of BDL values that can be discriminate the distributions. The DL is estimated by trial and error method. The appropriate method for the estimations of mean and variance of above the detection level(ADL)and BDL dada sets is selected, and the mean and variance are estimated. As a result, it is found that the Bias Corrected Maximum Likelihood Estimator is the most accurate method for NH$_3$-N in Puyeo intake.

  • This study compare the coordination and area between cadastral map digital data corrected by normal nap and serial cadastral map edited by formal data. By superposition ortho image made from aerial photo to serial cadastral map, we propose the method to improve the confidence and use the ortho image efficiently in cadastral part.

  • In digital mobile communications received speech data are affected by burst errors as well as random errors. To overcome these errors we propose a bit-selective forward error correction scheme for the speech data which is sub-band coded at 13 kbps and transmitted over a 16 kbps channel. For a few error correcting codes the signal-to-noise ratio of error-corrected speech is obtained and compared through the simulation of mobile communication channels.

  • A quickest path in a network is a path that takes the shortest time to send the amount of data from the source node to the sink node. Martin and Santos presented a theorem on the quickest path by which a quickest path for the amount of data is determined. However, we find a counterexample to Martins and Santos' theorem. In this paper, we present the corrected theorem and give a revised algorithm for finding quickest paths.

  • MI LV1B images, geometric corrected data of COMS MI, has no time information per each line, but field of weather prediction using the MI LV1B images needs time information on it. This paper explains two calculation methods for receiving time on lines of MI LV1B images and analyzes difference between two calculation methods using simulated data.

  • Smoothing spline estimators are modified to remove boundary bias effects using the technique proposed in Eubank and Speckman (1991). An O(n) algorithm is developed for the computation of the resulting estimator as well as associated generalized cross-validation criteria, etc. The asymptotic properties of the estimator are studied for the case of a linear smoothing spline and the upper bound for the average mean squared error of the estimator given in Eubank and Speckman (1991) is shown to be asymptotically sharp in this case.

  • This study reports the surface temperature pattern of the Tokyo Metropolitan area using the ASTER surface temperature product. The product is an image processed by applying temperature-emissivity separation to atmospheric corrected infrared thermal radiance of the land surface, then converted to surface temperature by using Planck's function. Daytime and nighttime observation in a cold season and a warm season were used in this study. As a result, 1) contrast between urban and suburban, 2) extraction of heating area in urban, 3) measurement of cooling effect of green space were achieved.

  • The main objective of this study was to assess the applicability of IoT (Internet of Things)-based flood management under climate change by developing intelligent water level monitoring platform based on IoT. In this study, Arduino Uno was selected as the development board, which is an open-source electronic platform. Arduino Uno was designed to connect the ultrasonic sensor, temperature sensor, and data logger shield for implementing IoT. Arduino IDE (Integrated Development Environment) was selected as the Arduino software and used to develop the intelligent algorithm to measure and calibrate the real-time water level automatically. The intelligent water level monitoring platform consists of water level measurement, temperature calibration, data calibration, stage-discharge relationship, and data logger algorithms. Water level measurement and temperature calibration algorithm corrected the bias inherent in the ultrasonic sensor. Data calibration algorithm analyzed and corrected the outliers during the measurement process. The verification of the intelligent water level measurement algorithm was performed by comparing water levels using the tape and ultrasonic sensor, which was generated by measuring water levels at regular intervals up to the maximum level. The statistics of the slope of the regression line and $R^2$ were 1.00 and 0.99, respectively which were considered acceptable. The error was 0.0575 cm. The verification of data calibration algorithm was performed by analyzing water levels containing all error codes in a time series graph. The intelligent platform developed in this study may contribute to the public IoT service, which is applicable to intelligent flood management under climate change.
