  • This paper describes $\mu$-law PCM/ADPCM Code Conversion System. The system algorithm is computer-simulated, and with the result of simulation the system is designed by using the Am 2900 family's Bit-Slice Microprocessors which have a high-speed processing power. The ADPCM algorithm is based on Jayant's model and the converting algorithm between $\mu$-law PCM and linear PCM is developed according to the CCITT Recommendation G. 711.

  • 본 논문에서는 ELA(Edge Line based Average) 알고리즘이 잡음 영상에서 IPC할 때 생기는 문제점을 개선하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 먼저 잡음을 제거하는 필터링과 동시에 잡음이 없는 원화소의 크기와 잡음의 크기를 추정한다. 이에 따라 잡음의 크기를 고려하여 ELA 방법과 수직보간 방법에 가중치를 주어 보간값을 구한다. 이 후 잡음이 존재할 경우 포스트 필터링(Post Filtering)을 거쳐 잔재해 있는 잡음을 제거해준다. 실험결과 제안하는 알고리즘이 기존 ELA 알고리즘들 보다도 향상된 결과를 보인다.

  • This paper presents a modeling and simulation of a utility-connected wind energy conversion system with a link of a rectifier and an inverter. It discusses the maximum power control algorithm for the wind turbine and presents the relationship of wind turbine output, rotor speed, power coefficient, tip-speed ratio and wind speed when the wind turbine is operated under the maximum power control algorithm. The control objective is to extract maximum power from wind and transfer the power to the utility. This is achieved by controlling the pitch angle of the wind turbine blades. Pitch control method is mechanically complicated, but the control performance is better than that of the stall regulation method. The simulation results performed on MATLAB will show the variation of generator's rotor speed, pitch angle, and generator output.

  • This paper presents a discrete-time version of voltage and current limited operation using an enhanced direct torque and flux control method for interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) drives. A command voltage vector for airgap torque and stator flux regulation can be uniquely determined by the finite-settling-step direct torque and flux control (FSS-DTFC) algorithm under physical constraints. The proposed command voltage vector trajectories can be developed to achieve the maximum inverter voltage utilization for the discrete-time current limit (DTCL)-based FSS-DTFC. The algorithm can produce adequate results over a number of the potential secondary upsets found in the steady-state current limit (SSCL)-based DTFC. The fast changes in the torque and stator flux linkage improve the dynamic responses significantly over a wide constant-power operating region. The control strategy was evaluated on a 900W IPMSM in both simulations and experiments.

  • An algorithm and its computer program are developed for the computer aided automatic conversion from 2 dimensional (2-D) design drawings to a 3 dimensional used to generate the tool path of NC machine. The algorithm and its computer program developed were applied to several real objects for their feasibility check and showed satisfactory results. As the results of this study, it was proved that a foundation work to prepare the data base for CAD/CAM integ- ration can be established so as to improve the productivity.

A Searching Algorithm for Minimum Bandpass Sampling Frequency in Simultaneous Down-Conversion of Multiple RF Signals

  • Bandpass sampling (BPS) techniques for the direct down-conversion of RF bandpass signals have become an essential technique for software defined radio (SDR), due to their advantage of minimizing the radio frequency (RF) front-end hardware dependency. This paper proposes an algorithm for finding the minimum BPS frequency for simultaneously down-converting multiple RF signals through full permutation over all the valid sampling ranges found for the multiple RF signals. We also present a scheme for reducing the computational complexity resulting from the large scale of the purmutation calculation involved in searching for the minimum BPS frequency. In addition, we investigate the BPS frequency allowing for the guard-band between adajacent down-converted signals, which help lessen the severe requirements in practical implementations. The performance of the proposed method is compared with those of other pre-reported methods to prove its effectiveness.

  • This paper proposes new motion vector re-estimation techniques for transcoding of heterogenous video coders. The first case is for transcoder of coding format. The coding algorithm with B-picture like MPEG standards is transcoded into the different algorithm without B-picture like H.261 standards. The second case is for transcoder of spatial resolution reduction. It generates a downscaled video bitstream at the video source. The third case is the integrated method that previous two cases are needed simultaneously. These three transcoding algorithms are compared and verified though reconstructed image quality in PSNR, motion vector errors between optimal motion vectors of cascaded trans- coder and motion vectors estimated by proposed methods and the amount of operation.

  • In this paper, a real-time stereoscopic image conversion method using a single frame from a 2-D image is proposed. If original image is too much dark, it is difficult to create correct luminance value. So stereoscopic image is generated after applied image enhancement algorithm to original image. The Stereoscopic image is generated by creating depth map using vertical position information and parallax processing.

  • This paper presents the Walsh-Fourier conversion algorithm and Signal Analysis Technique. The Fourier coefficients are determined as the combinations of the Walsh coefficients in terms of the new Walsh-Fourier conversion algorithm.   • Due to several advantages of Pulse Width Modulation(PWM) Converter, such as unity power factor operation, elimination of low-order harmonics and regeneration of motor braking energy to source, the application range of PWM Converter has been rapidly extended in industrial application. Nowadays, vector control algorithm and space vector PWM(SVPWM) method are applied to improve the performances of PWM Converter, but vector control algorithm and SVPWM require to use Microprocessor and other digital devices in hardware, causing costly and somewhat large dimension system. In every practical application of energy conversion equipments, the design and implementation should be carried out considering cost and performance. High performance and low cost is the best choice for energy conversion equipments. So, this paper presents the practical design method and implementation results of 3-phase PWM Converter with analog hysteresis current controller, and verifies the performances of unit power factor operation and energy regeneration operation via experimental results.
