  • This paper treats the problem of estimating an arbitrary parametric function in the case when the parameter and sample spaces are countable and the decision space is arbitrary. Using the notions of a stepwise Bayesian procedure and finite admissibility, a theorem is proved. It shows that under some assumptions, every finitely admissible estimator is unique stepwise Bayes with respect to a finite or countable sequence of mutually orthogonal priors with finite supports. Under an additional assumption, it is shown that the converse is true as well. The first can be also extended to the case when the parameter and sample space are arbitrary, i.e., not necessarily countable, and the underlying probability distributions are discrete.

  • A method for recovering Chui-Lian's orthogonal symmetric/antisymmetric multiwavelets of order 2 from orthogonal two-direction wavelets of order 2 was proposed by Yang and Xie. In this paper we pursue the converse, that is, we propose a method for constructing orthogonal two-direction wavelets of order 2 from orthogonal symmetric/antisymmetric multiwavelets of order 2.

  • Let X be a four-dimensional projective variety defined over the field of complex numbers with only terminal singularities. We prove that if the intersection number of the canonical divisor K with every very general curve is positive (K is almost numerically positive) then every very general proper subvariety of X is of general type in ';he viewpoint of geometric Kodaira dimension. We note that the converse does not hold for simple abelian varieties.

  • We shall introduce new concepts of near-rings, that is, strong reducibility and left semi ${\pi}$-regular near-rings. We will study every strong reducibility of near-ring implies reducibility of near-ring but this converse is not true, and also some characterizations of strong reducibility of near-rings. We shall investigate some relations between strongly reduced near-rings and left strongly regular near-rings, and apply strong reducibility of near-rings to the study of left semi ${\pi}$-regular near-rings, s-weekly regular near-rings and some other regularity of near-rings.

  • In this paper, we illustrate a counter example for the converse of a certain conjecture proposed by De Giorgi. De Giorgi suggested a series of conjectures, in which a certain integral condition for singularity or degeneracy of an elliptic operator is satisfied, the solutions are continuous. We construct some singular elliptic operators and solutions such that the integral condition does not hold, but the solutions are continuous.

  • In this paper, we introduce the concept of well-posedness for general variational inequalities and obtain some results under pseudomonotonicity. It is well known that monotonicity implies pseudomonotonicity, but the converse is not true. In this respect, our results represent an improvement and refinement of the previous known results. Since the general variational inequalities include (quasi) variational inequalities and complementarity problems as special cases, results obtained in this paper continue to hold for these problems.

  • A pair of symmetric fractional variational programming problems is formulated over cones. Weak, strong, converse and self duality theorems are discussed under pseudoinvexity. Static symmetric dual fractional programs are included as special case and corresponding symmetric duality results are merely stated.

  • The Tychonoff product theorem is one of the most fundamental theorems in general topology. As is well-known, the proof of the Tychonoff product theorem relies on the axiom of choice. The converse was also conjectured by S. Kakutani and Kelley [1] then resolved this conjecture in his historical short note on 1950. However, the original proof due to Kelley has a flaw. According to this observation, we provide a correction of the proof in this paper.

  • We define the convolutions of Fourier hyperfunctions and show that every strongly decreasing Fourier hyperfunction is a convolutor for the space of Fourier hyperfunctions and the converse is true. Also we show that there are no differential operator with constant coefficients which have a fundamental solution in the space of strongly decreasing Fourier hyperfunctions. Lastly we show that the space of multipliers for the space of Fourier hyperfunctions consists of analytic functions extended to any strip in $\mathbb{C}^n$ which are estimated with a special exponential function exp$(\mu|\chi|)$.

  • In this paper, we investigate the properties of the semi-continuous functions on the first axiom space, n-th product space, pseudo-metric space, and proximity space. Counterexample is used when the converse of the theorem is not hold.
