주조물(鑄造物) 접착후(接着後) Cement층(層) 후경측정(厚徑測定)에 관(關)한 실험적(實驗的) 연구(硏究) (An Experimental Study on Cement Film Thickness Between Casting Restorations and Preparation Walls.)

  • The purposes of this study were to measure the film thickness of zinc phosphate cement between the casting restorations and preparation walls. In addition, the differences between finger press and non press techniques after the castings were seated completely on the preparation by an automatic mallet until the cement set were studied. The results were as follows : 1) In full cast crown, the cement film thickness on the side wall was thinner than that on the other walls. 2) In 3/4 crown and inlay, the cement thickness was thinner than that in cast crowns. 3) The cement of great W/P ratio showed thinner thickness than that of little W/P ratio. 4) The continuous finger press after the castings were seated completely on the preparations had few influence on the cement film thickness.

직접압연공정에 있어서 롤과 용탕을 연계한 유한요소 열전도해석 (A Finite Element Heat Transfer Analysis with Coupling of Roll and Molten Metal in Direct Rolling Process)

  • In the steel industries, direct rolling process for production of strip from molten metal has been investigated to simplify processes, to minimize energy consumption, and to improve quality of the strip. In this study, two kinds of practicable scale cooling rollers are proposed. And heat transfer analysis of pool region and cooling roller considering flow of molten metal and roll rotation respectively using the finite element method are performed to obtain the proper initial condition and to observe cooling characteristics of cooling roller. From the results, variations of solidification final points and temperature distribution in roller are observed quantitatively according to roll rotation.

냉간압연가공시 Work roll 마멸과 Slip에 관한 연구

  • 냉간압연기술의 발달로 냉간압연기도 매우 다양하게 발달되었으며 냉간압연의 원자재인 열간압연재의 종류도 다양하다. 최근 열간압연가공시 회수율이 높은 연속주조재(Continuous casting strip)인 CC 재가 종전의 가공과정이 복잡하며 불량율이 높은 Ingot주조재(Ingot casting strip)인 IC 재 보다 생산비율이 점차 증대되어 냉간압연재료의 주종을 차지하고있다. CC재는 냉간압연가공시 IC재에 비해 Work roll 조도저하가 현저하게 크기 때문에 슬립(Slip)과 채팅(Charttering) 현상 등이 발생하여 압연가공성이 불안정 하게 되어 Work roll과 판표면에 손상이 생기게 되고, 압연가공시 Roll 사고 등의 문제가 발생하므로 Roll 마멸의 정도를 파악하여 Roll을 효과적으로 관리하므로써 Work roll과 판표면의 슬립현상 및 채터 링현상 등을 방지할 수 있다.

박슬라브 주형에 따른 용강내의 상변화현상에 대한 수치적 해석 (Numerical Prediction of Phase Change within the Molten Steel with Thin Slab Casting)

  • A numerical analysis has been performed on the two-dimensional rectangular gallium melting problem using the enthalpy method. The major advantage of this method is that the physical domain is discretized with fixed grids without transforming variables and the interface conditions of phase change are accounted for the definition of suitable source terms in the governing equations. But in the fixed method, there is some ambiguity in defining the porosity constant which has no physical interpretation. If the velocity correction is included in the momentum equation, for the appropriate range of porosity constant, the realistic predictions are obtained. The object of the present work is to predict the phase change within the molten steel with thin riser slab using the modified enthalpy-porosity method. The computational procedures for predicting velocity and temperature are based on the finite volume method and the non-staggered grid system. The influence of natural convection on the melting process is considered. A comparison with the experimental results shows that the modified method is better than the previous one.

Metallurgical Failure Analysis on a Suspension Clamp in 154kV Electric Power Transmission Tower

  • Failure of a suspension clamp made of hot dip galvanized cast iron in 154kV transmission tower was investigated. Metallurgical analysis of a crack of the clamp was performed using a digital microscope, an optical microscope, and a scanning electron microscope. It was revealed that the crack surface was covered by continuous zinc layer. Distinctive casting skin was found underneath both the outer surface and crack surface. The result showed that pre-existing crack had been formed in the fabrication, and liquid metal embrittlement during hot dip galvanization may assist crack propagation.

전자교반식 수평연속주조법에 의한 반응고 Al 합금의 제조에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fabrication of Semi-solid Al Alloys by EMS Horizontal Continuous Casting Process)

  • 본 연구에서는 반응고 Al합금을 얻기 위해서 3상 2극의 전자교반장치를 이용하였으며, 주입온도와 주입전압을 변화시켜 Al합금의 초정입자크기, aspect ratio, 표준편차, 경도 및 공정 Si 입자의 크기 및 형상 변화를 조사하였다. 같은 주입온도에서는 주입전압이 증가함에 따라 aspect ratio, 표준편차 및 초정입자의 크기는 감소되었다. 전자교반식 수평연속주조방법에 의한 Al 합금의 최적제조 조건은 주입전압 220V, 주입온도 68$0^{\circ}C$이었으며, 이 조건에서 초정입자의 크기는 54$\mu\textrm{m}$이었고, aspect ratio는 1.56이었으며 그 표준편차는 0.4이었다. 그리고 공정 Si의 크기는 0.5$\mu\textrm{m}$이었으며 제조된 Al합금의 경도는 72.1 Hv를 나타내었다. 본 연구를 위해 제작된 3상 2극 전자교반장치에 의해서 매우 낮은 aspect ratio 및 표준편자를 갖는 반응고 A356 Al합금을 제조할 수 있었다.

Flexural Behavior of Continuous Composite Bridges with Precast Concrete Decks

  • For the construction of open-topped steel box girder bridges, prefabricated concrete slab could offer several advantages over cast-in-situ deck including good quality control, fast construction, and elimination of the formwork for concrete slab casting. However, precast decks without reinforcements at transverse joints between precast slabs should be designed to prevent the initiation of cracking at the joints, because the performance of the joint is especially crucial for the integrity of a structural system. Several prestressing methods are available to introduce proper compression at the joints, such as internal tendons, external tendons and support lowering after shear connection. In this paper, experimental results from a continuous composite bridge model with precast decks are presented. Internal tendons and external tendons were used to prevent cracking at the joints. Judging from the tests, precast decks in negative moment regions have the whole contribution to the flexural stiffness of composite section under service loads if appropriate prestressing is introduced. The validity of the calculation of a cracking load fur serviceability was presented by comparing an observed cracking load and the calculated value. Flexural behavior of the continuous composite beam with external prestressing before and after cracking was discussed by using the deflection and strain data.

Future Outlook of Refractories for Iron and Steelmaking

  • Refractory industry in technologically advanced countries has long been on gradual decline due to leveled-off steel production and decreasing unit consumption of refractories for steel. Notable technological achievements by refractory industry that contributed significantly to steel production are briefly reviewed covering from blast furnace, basic oxygen furnace to continuous casting. Future possibility to revitalize the refractory industry is discussed on the basis of the review, taking into account opportunities available in environment and energy related sector of industries.
