ON THE "TERRA INCOGNITA" FOR THE NEWTON-KANTROVICH METHOD WITH APPLICATIONS

  • In this paper, we use Newton's method to approximate a locally unique solution of an equation in Banach spaces and introduce recurrent functions to provide a weaker semilocal convergence analysis for Newton's method than before [1]-[13], in some interesting cases, provided that the Fr$\acute{e}$chet-derivative of the operator involved is p-H$\ddot{o}$lder continuous (p${\in}$(0, 1]). Numerical examples involving two boundary value problems are also provided.

  • This paper describes analysis of complex flow around Car-like body using Chimera grid technique. As a computational algorithm, Pullboat and Chaussee's Diagonal algorithm is selected to reduce computational time. Introducing hole points flag to this Diagonal algorithm, an algorithm for Chimera grid is generated easily. This study solves 3-D unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations on a non-orthogonal curvilinear coordinate system using second-order accurate schemes for the time derivatives, and third/second-order scheme for the spatial derivatives. The Marker-and-Cell concept is applied to efficiently solve continuity equation. The fourth-order artificial damping is added to the continuity equation for numerical stability, It has concluded that the results of present study properly agree with physical flow phenomena.

  • This paper analyzes file stiffness, damping coefficient, friction force and flow coefficient of externally pressurized oil journal beating, including the effect of journal rotation according to the Sommerfeld number. This paper assumed that the oil in the whole pocket has constant pressure, and that the oil in the whole bearing region has constant viscosity, temperature and density. Reynolds equation is derived from Nuvier - Stokes equation and continuity equation. And solved bearing pressure by ADI method for whole bearing region and fitted with out flow rate of pocket region. The model for numerical simulation is hydro - static oil journal bearing for high-speed, high-accuracy lathe spindle.

저수지 하상변동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Bed Change in Reservoirs)

  • 본 연구는 하천 및 저수지의 하상변동을 예측하기 위하여 하천을 단일 수로로 취급하였으며 저수지는 몇 개의 수로로 나누어 유량의 합성모형, 2차원 분류모형 및 1차원 밀도류모형을 이용하였다. 수치모형은 유량의 연속방정식과 운동량방정식을 double-sweep method로 유량과 수위의 변동량을 구한 후, 수위 및 유량의 변동량을 유사의 연속방정식에 적용하여 하상의 세굴 및 퇴적으로 인한 하상고의 변동량을 예측하였다. 본 연구대상 구역은 보성강댐에서 주암댐의 상류지역인 문덕교까지 약 31km구간을 선정하였으며 하천이 약 13km, 저수지 부분이 약 18km이다.

  • Double Injection(DI) switching devices consist of PS0+T and nS0+T contact separated by a nearly intrinsic semiconductor region containing deep trap. The equation set for DI switching device simulation by FEM is proposed. The existance of deep trap requires the modification of conventional equation set. So recombination rate equation is modified and a new equation is included in the equation set which conventionally consists op Poisson equation and current continuity equation. Consequently, the modeling equation set, which is proposed in this paper, can be applied to other semiconductor devices with trap.

Suggesting double-web I-shaped columns for omitting continuity plates in a box-shaped column

  • Generally the required strength and stiffness of an I-shaped beam to the box-shaped column connection is achieved if continuity plates are welded to the column flanges from all sides. However, welding the forth edge of a continuity plate to the column flange may not be easily done and is normally accompanied by remarkable difficulties. This study was aimed to propose an alternative for box columns with continuity plates to diminish such problems. For this purpose a double-web I-shaped column was proposed. In this case the strength and rotational stiffness of the connection was provided by nearing the column webs to each other. Finite element studies on about 120 beam-column connections showed that the optimum proportion of the distance between two column webs and the width of the column flange (parameter ${\beta}$) was a function of the ratio of the beam flange width to the column flange width (parameter ${\alpha}$). Hence, based on the finite element results, an equation was proposed to estimate the optimum value of parameter ${\beta}$ in terms of parameter ${\alpha}$ to achieve the highest connection performance. Results also showed that the strength and ductility of post-Northridge connections of such columns are in average 12.5 % and 54% respectively higher than those of box-shaped columns with ordinary continuity plates. Therefore, a double-web I-shaped column of optimum arrangement might be a proper replacement for a box column with continuity plates when beams are rigidly attached to it.

Lp (p ≥ 1) SOLUTIONS OF MULTIDIMENSIONAL BSDES WITH TIME-VARYING QUASI-HÖLDER CONTINUITY GENERATORS IN GENERAL TIME INTERVALS

  • The objective of this paper is solving multidimensional backward stochastic differential equations with general time intervals, in Lp (p ≥ 1) sense, where the generator g satisfies a time-varying Osgood condition in y, a time-varying quasi-Hölder continuity condition in z, and its ith component depends on the ith row of z. Our result strengthens some existing works even for the case of finite time intervals.

P2P1 유한요소 공식을 이용한 비압축성 Navier-Stokes 방정식의 반-분리 해법에 관한 연구 (Study of the semi-segregation algorithms of the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations using P2P1 finite element formulation)

  • The conventional segregated finite element formulation produces a small and simple matrix at each step than in an integrated formulation. And the memory and cost requirements of computations are significantly reduced because the pressure equation for the mass conservation of the Navier-Stokes equations is constructed only once if the mesh is fixed. However, segregated finite element formulation solves Poisson equation of elliptic type so that it always needs a pressure boundary condition along a boundary even when physical information on pressure is not provided. On the other hand, the conventional integrated finite element formulation in which the governing equations are simultaneously treated has an advantage over a segregated formulation in the sense that it can give a more robust convergence behavior because all variables are implicitly combined. Further it needs a very small number of iterations to achieve convergence. However, the saddle-paint-type matrix (SPTM) in the integrated formulation is assembled and preconditioned every time step, so that it needs a large memory and computing time. Therefore, we newly proposed the P2PI semi-segregation formulation. In order to utilize the fact that the pressure equation is assembled and preconditioned only once in the segregated finite element formulation, a fixed symmetric SPTM has been obtained for the continuity constraint of the present semi-segregation finite element formulation. The momentum equation in the semi-segregation finite element formulation will be separated from the continuity equation so that the saddle-point-type matrix is assembled and preconditioned only once during the whole computation as long as the mesh does not change. For a comparison of the CPU time, accuracy and condition number between the two methods, they have been applied to the well-known benchmark problem. It is shown that the newly proposed semi-segregation finite element formulation performs better than the conventional integrated finite element formulation in terms of the computation time.

공공도서관 시니어 이용자가 지각하는 관계혜택이 관계품질과 관계지속의도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Effects of Public Library Senior User's Perception of Relational Benefits on the Relationship Quality and Intent to Relationship Continuity)

  • 본 연구는 공공도서관 시니어 이용자가 도서관 이용 시 지각하는 관계혜택이 관계품질과 관계지속의도에 미치는 영향을 파악하기 위해 공공도서관을 이용하는 50세 이상의 시니어 이용자 185명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과, 공공도서관의 시니어 이용자가 지각하는 관계혜택은 관계품질을 매개로 관계지속의도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 관계혜택요인 중 기능적 혜택은 관계품질을 매개로 관계지속의도에 강한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 관계품질 요인 중 몰입은 관계지속의도를 예측하는 가장 중요한 변수로 확인되었다. 본 연구는 공공도서관 시니어 이용자와 도서관과의 관계형성과정을 관계마케팅의 관점에서 알아봄으로써 이용자 특성에 따른 도서관마케팅 전략개발에 실천적 시사점을 제시하였다는데 그 의의가 있다.

  • Theoritical predictions are given of the time dependence of charged particle densities and electric field in a pseudospark discharge. Our medel is based on a numerical solution of the continuity equation for electrons and positive ions and coupled with Poisson's equation for the electric field. From numerical results, we can identify phisical mechanisms that lead to the rapid rise in current in the onset of a pseudospark discharge.
