Fashion has been compared to art since Japanese avant-garde fashion designers expanded the thoughts about conceptual fashion in late 1970s. The fashion designers focused on the materiality of fashion textiles by placing more importance on it than the shapes. This bears a striking resemblance to contemporary art of 1960s and 1970s as many artists used soft materials like felt, fabric, rubber to emphasize themselves. This study establishes the materiality of fabric, which can be found in both contemporary art and fashion. The classification of materiality consists of flexibility, humanizing and temporality. In this work, there is a significant disparity between contemporary art and fashion.

The purpose of this research is to understand and explore the view of the current architectural and interior design approach through Critical Regionalism created as one of the movements opposed to Contemporary. Critical Regionalism as a critical view about the contemporary architecture is based on integrated critical thinking toward a built environment surrounded by regional facts such as natural environment, materials, light, weather, unique culture where exist the specific places. The architectural themes of Critical Regionalism based on Kenneth Frampton's view and interpretation about contemporary architecture can be understood as follows; the concept of the place, tectonics, expression by abstraction and phenomenologlcal interpretation. Critical Regionalism has two distinctive features, which are the connection to the Contemporary and critical aspects to develop processes of an architectural design.

Recently, because of the rapid remarkable development of the digital media, contemporary society is continuously extending and changing over the limitation of the human recognition. But in the field of architectural form creation, a diagram used in the design process of the past is not enough to reflect a complication, contingent and multiple quality of these contemporary society. So, to reveal the rhizomorphous and non-hierarchial qualify of the contemporary digital network society, architecture became necessary to use the diagram with digital media which have various possibilities to present architect's abstract images that the diagram of the past couldn't do. Therefore, this study proposes that the process for creating architectural form with the digital diagram be a alternative to conquest the limits of contemporary architecture, so it present the complicate and contingent quality of contemporary society. Furthermore, it examines the quality and possibility of the diagram by understanding the creation and transformation of the digital diagram, and how to apply to the actual architecture process of the creating form.

One of frequent phenomena in the contemporary cultural field is the alternative or accompanying interweaving phenomena which happens in the relative connection of A, B, and C. The power of interweaving mixture is one of energies which unify the contemporary cultural phenomena, and it appears as a major phenomena in the recent popular digital architecture. In this study, the mixture, shape, and contents in the contemporary space design is analyzed as a point of view of Post-Structuralism. Namely, the digital part and non-digital part of alternative and circulating existence in the space are classified and the interweaving phenomena in the contemporary space design are proved. It is studied for digital part and physical space to conjunct the hole space and smooth space of Deleuze as part of interweaving phenomena. It is clear that the compatible concept of the hole space and smooth space is crossed complexly or is coexisting in circulating and extending, and is showed as interweaving phenomena in one space.

Vernacular perspectives had been ignored in the movement of modern architecture. This study's purpose was to review vernacular perspectives and to identify vernacular characteristics of earth architecture. Six representative contemporary earth architects were selected, and then their works were analyzed. Themes of vernacular architecture based of Frampton's critical regionalism were emerged. Findings were as following: 1) constructed by considering the local climate and the region's natural characteristics, 2) constructed with local materials seeking integration of structure and finishing work, 3) having tectonic form included regional characteristics, 4) creating space of various senses and expression of texture through earth modeling, 5) presenting homogeneity of sense of place between site and architecture, and 6) pursuing ecological and sustainable architecture. These characteristics of contemporary earth architecture reflect the vernacular architecture inherited continually in architectural history. Therefore, contemporary earth architecture has been in line with contemporary architecture aiming for sustainability.

This study explored roles of the ornament in contemporary furniture that contemporary furniture designers make their furniture different, convey a metaphorical message, and competitive. Contemporary furniture involved in the ornament is decorative, beautiful, and characterized by craftsmanship through eclecticism and pluralism reestablished in furniture design in the postmodern era. Also, the ornament has been presented in the context of the blurring of art/craft distinctions. Thus, the contemporary furniture is called as art furniture/craft furniture which is diverse from minimal decoration to maximal decoration. Hence, by using all of the ornamental context, the furniture designers try to satisfy and communicate with the largest possible number of people, and have numerous opportunities to select according to their characteristics or taste. Finally, their furniture in the futuristic mode may be cross-cultural work that everybody in the earth can understand, enjoy, and appreciate in his/her daily space through his/her everyday use.

The study examined a sentiment analysis based on Tweeter messages between contemporary pop musicians and classical music composers. Musicians of each genre were carefully selected for the sentiment analysis. Many opinion messages on Tweets that users have discussed were collected, and the messages were evaluated by using Naïve Bayes Classifier. The results demonstrated that users showed high positive sentiments for the two different genres. However, on average, the positive sentiment values for classical music composers are higher than for contemporary pop musicians. In addition, the rankings of the highest positive sentiments among contemporary pop musicians and classical music composers did not coincide with the popularity of the two different genres of musicians. This study will contribute to the study of future sentimental analysis between music and musicians.

Contemporary architecture has shown interest in surface after breaking off the relation with structure. Also, the development of contemporary media has brought the great change to the surface of architecture. Interaction among the people, architecture, and environment is also the main point of interest in adapting the role of media to the architecture. But contemporary media itself have been applied on surface in architecture lately. So, it is purpose of the study to analyze the contemporary media characteristics application on the surfaces of EXPO pavilions based on the related characteristics of interaction effects. The categories and the contents for the frame of case studies were arranged through document research and field study. Case studies were focused on the pavilions of the World Exposition Shanghai China 2010. Surface can make the interaction between human and architecture more dramatically by the application the role of media. It was analyzed through the study that the interaction level of people is the important issue shared in digital or analog media application on surface of pavilion. The complementary relationship between surface of contemporary architecture and contemporary media can be manipulated and enriched by the application of various style of media on surface.

The purpose of this study is to analyse the diagrammatic design approaches and programmatic design approaches in contemporary architecture, so that this reveals the sequential systems of circulation in the space and liberal movement of the visitors in the buildings of those diagrammatic and programmatic architecture. Contemporary architecture generates the new forms and meanings through the dynamic visions and perspectives. Such a variation of sequential vistas and dynamic visions produce a perception of time and a potential movements of axis in the perspective. This study give the systematic body to the relations among visions, movements, sequences, forms, circulations and time. Diagrammatic and programmatic design approaches show the heterogeneous spaces and the informal architectures in contemporary architecture. Therefore, movements of various view points, differrentiations of objects in the perspectives, and multiple view frames appears in the designs of initiative architects. In conclusion, this study systemizes the concepts of time, sequential movements, and perceptions of events in contemporary architecture through the analyse of 18 architectural works of important architects in 2000s. And this shows details of the transitional movement of space and the perception of time in contemporary Architecture. The Being of the active time constructs formal transformations, spacial differentiations, accumulations of human behaviors, and movements of circulations involved with experiences of the field of senses. Therefore, Zeitlichkeit is perceived through concepts of the sequences of those spaces, forms, behaviors, and memories.

This research analyzes trends of fashion show window displays, regarding it as a new form of installation art that has the characteristics of contemporary art. Fashion show window displays are more than a physical space for displaying and have emerged as a new space in which creative expressions of arts take place. This research presents the characteristics of contemporary fashion show window displays by analyzing the characteristics of contemporary art. First, recent show window displays have shown "decentralization": various themes, forms, and mediums that are accepted without discrimination. Recent show window displays deviate from conventional methods, constantly pursuing experimental and progressive ideas and also include categories of current art, body art, and live art. Second, show window display has "interactiveness" that enables two-way communication between audiences and art, rather than fixing audiences as receptive viewers. Third, "textuality" can be found in show window displays. Recent show windows are use "objects" to show products as well as to express the meaning and symbols of products. A new directionality and effective strategies are shown to be imperative for the future development of fashion show window displays.
