증례 '금지된 언어와 침묵을 넘어서'를 통해 본 정신신체화 환자와의 소통 (Communication with Psychosomatic Patient: With a Clinical Vignette "When Words Are Unspeakable: A Bridge Beyond the Silence")

  • What should a therapist do if the patient has lost the ability to speak in sessions? How should the therapist understand and approach this 'deadly silence'? Psychosomatic patients have poor ability to mentalize their experience, so they create a 'shunt' from emotional experience to body bypassing symbolic sphere. This makes psychosomatic patients vulnerable to expressing their emotions in words. With the case vignette 'When words are unspeakable: a bridge beyond the silence' written by Wirth in a book "From soma to symbol" we observe how psychosomatic pathology arises, from inappropriate mirroring and poor containment; and how this escalates into a vicious cycle of sin and punishment in the patient's conscience. This conscience scenario imprisons a talented and creative mind in a dark, silent place, wherein symbols and words are forbidden. This seemingly impossible task of providing silent patients with a 'talking cure' finds breakthrough with containment, and transformative thinking using therapists' reveries.

The optimum steel fiber reinforcement for prestressed concrete containment under internal pressure

  • This paper investigates the optimum fiber reinforcement for prestressed concrete containment vessels (PCCVs) under internal pressure. To achieve this aim, steel fiber, which is the most widely used fiber type in current engineering applications, is adopted to constitute steel fiber-reinforced concrete (SFRC) to substitute the conventional concrete in the PCCV. The effects of characteristic parameters, 𝜆sf, of the steel fiber affecting significantly the mechanical behavior of the concrete are first taken into account. Partial or complete concrete regions of the PCCV are also considered to be replaced by SFRC to balance the economy and safety. By adopting the ABAQUS software, the ultimate bearing capacity and performance for the fiber-reinforced PCCV are scientifically studied and quantified, and the recommendations for the optimum way of fiber reinforcement are presented.

  • Post-tension duct in nuclear reactor containment building is filled with grease to prevent steel strand from corroding. If grease leaks by break of duct, steel strand will corrode and cause problem in building safety. Therefore, grease leak should be checked preventatively. But currently used method is inefficient, since it has to remove grease and strand to check. And other methods for checking post-tension dust are not well-researched. In this paper, we develop screw-propelled robot that can move in grease and detect grease duct directly. Also, we make the test environment that is similar to real post-tension duct of containment building and test robot in that environment to verify that our robot is feasible in the post-tension duct. The robot can move forward and backward in grease duct by twin screw mechanism and has mount for sensors to detect grease leakage and strand corrosion.
