In this research,we suggest a virtual machining system that can simulate sutting forces at the stage of design. Cutting forces, here, are modeled form the machanistic model of the ball end milling. To this end, we need undeformed chip thickness which is used for calculating chip load. It is derived form the z-map data of a CAD model. That is, chip load is the height difference between the cutting tool contact point and the workpiece at arbitrary position. The tool contact point is referred from the cutter location. Form the experimental verification, we can simulate machining process effectively to the slot and the side cutting of ball end mill.

This paper is about feasibility study of positioning device using magnetic suspension system which uses only vertical magnetic forces. The proposed system has inherited advantages from contact-free system, simple structure, and high expansibility in operating range different from conventional positioning devices. In this paper, the structure and operating principle are described and the linearized magnetic force and dynamic model are obtained. With the linear control theory, the experiments are executed. finally, the experimental results are shown.

In this study, finite element analysis is carried out to estimate horizontal forces needed for the required power calculation and vertical forces applied on the structural analysis model for the development of automatic serrated surface at metal gasket core machining system. By considering of elasto-plastic material characteristics, nonlinear contact analysis was conducted to compute these loads according to the change of roll reduction, frictional coefficient and core thickness. As the result, horizontal and vertical reaction force variations are found according to parameters and maximum reaction force is also confirmed to be most affected by roll reduction.
This paper presents a rigid-plastic finite element method to handle the frictional contact problem between two deformable bodies experiencing large deformation. The variational formulation combined with incremental quasi-static model is employed for treating the contact boundary condition. The frictional behavior of the model obeys Coulomb's law of friction. The proposed contact algorithms are classified into two categories, one for searching contacting nodes and the other for calculating contact forces at the contact surface. A slave node and master contact segment are defined using the geometric condition of finite elements on the contact interface. The penalty parameter is used to limit the penetration between contacting bodies, and the finite elements are coupled with contact boundary elements.us gates and cavity thicknesses. Through this study we have observed that the jetting is related to the die swell of material. This means that the jotting is strongly affected by the elastic flow property rather than the viscous flow property in viscoelastic characteristics of molten polymer. Different resins have different elastic properties, and elastic flow behavior depends on the shear rate of flow, i.e. injection speed. Large die swell would eliminate jetting however, the retardation of die swell would stimulate jetting. In the point of mole design, reducing the thickness ratio of cavity to gate can reduce or eliminate jetting regardless of amount of elasticity of polymer melt.

In this Paper, we suggest the precision stage using a novel non-contact planar actuator that utilizes an interaction between an array type of air-core solenoids and permanent magnets. The former with axes arranged in the mutually orthogonal direction is fixed on the stator and the latter with the same polar direction is attached below the stage. The promising magnetic structure has little uncertainty such as hysteresis loss caused by ferromagnetic material, then it is simple to quantify the magnetic phenomenon. And all the magnetic forces are transmitted through narrow air-gap between the coil and the permanent magnet, therefore the structure can be highly compacted. Furthermore, the stage or plate can be perfectly isolated from the stator without any wire connection, leading to diminish the generating possibility of wear particles due to mechanical contact. Then. it is estimated that the proposed operating principle is very suitable for work requiring high accuracy and cleanness. or general-purpose nano stage. The main issues rebated to the plate driving are discussed here.

In this paper, a new estimation method is proposed to calculate steering rack axial force using a 3 dimensional tire mesh model when a car is standing on the road. This model is established by considering changes of camber angle and contact patch between the tires and the ground according to steering angle. The steering rack bar axial force is estimated based on the static equilibrium equations of forces and moments. A tire friction force is supposed to act on the center point of the contact patch, and the proportional coefficient of friction depending on contact patch is suggested. Using the proposed estimation method, rack axial force sensitivity analysis is evaluated according to changes of suspension geometry. Then optimal motor power of Motor Driven Power Steering(MDPS) is evaluated using suggested rack forces.

It is very important to estimate static squeezing pressure distributions for lining material of sterntube after bearing at dry dock stage since the maximum squeezing pressure value can be one of the significant characteristics representing coming navigation performances of the propulsion system. Moderate oil film pressure between lining material and propulsion shaft is also essential for safe ship service. In this paper, Hertz contact theory is explained to derive static squeezing pressure. Reynolds equation simplified from Navier-Stokes equation is centrally differentiated to numerically obtain dynamic oil film pressures. New shaft alignment technology of nonlinear elastic multi-support bearing elements is also used in order to obtain external forces acting on lining material of bearing. For 300K DWT class VLCC with synthetic bush of sterntube after bearing, static squeezing pressures are calculated using derived external forces and Hertz contact theory. Optimum partial slope of the after bush is presented by parametric shaft alignment analyses. Dynamic oil film pressures are comparatively evaluated for partially bored and unbored after bush. Finally it is proved that the partial slope can drastically reduce oil film pressure during engine running.

This paper is focused on understanding the interrupting capability, more specifically of the fix contact, based on the shape of the contact system in the current MCCB. The magnetic driving force was calculated by using the flux densities induced by the arc current, which are obtained by three-dimensional finite element method. There is a need to assure that the optimum design required to analyze the electromagnetic forces of the contact system generated by current and the flux density be present. This is paper present our computational analysis on contact system in MCCB.

Gate-lifting devices in small- to mid-sized sluice gates mostly employ the mechanical roller rack pinion (RRP) system. This RRP system, which consists of a rack-bar and a pinion, transforms a rotation motion into a linear one. The rack-bar has a series of roller trains that mesh with the pinion. In this study, we adopt an exact involute-trochoid tooth profile of the pinion to obtain a higher contact fatigue strength using the profile modification coefficient. Further, we determine the contact forces and investigate Hertz contact stresses to predict the pitting life of the pinion according to varying the shape design parameters. The results indicate that the design fatigue life of an RRP system for sluice gate can be achieved only when the design value of the profile modification coefficient reaches or exceeds a certain level.
A data acquisition and signal processing system for evaluating the current collection system is developed, and subsequently applied to the measurement and analysis of the contact force in the current collection system of the proposed Korean High Speed Railway. The measurement of the contact force is based on an algorithm that employs the relationship between the contact force, the strain due to the bending moment and the panhead inertia. For the contact forces in the frequency range of less that 50Hz, the panhead can the modeled as a rigid body in the inertia calculation. For higher frequencies however, the bending vibration modes of the panhead need to be accounted for as well.
