The results can be summarized as follows: 1) The average level of the propensity for conspicuous consumption was a little higher than middle point ; 2) the propensity of conspicuous consumption of college students was significantly different according to age, sex, the amount of monthly allowance, and the parents' level of education; 3) the variables with statistically significant effects on college students' conspicuous consumption include the consumption-oriented attitude, the influencing degree of reference group, the amount of monthly allowance, and sex.
Despite increasing consumption of luxury brands, research about consumption of luxury brands is limited. The purpose of this article is to gain a deeper understanding of important role of intrinsic consumption motivations in consumption of luxury brands. This article investigated the relationships among consumption motivations, conspicuous consumption belief, Product quality belief, and attitude toward consumption of luxury brands using structural equation modeling. The results reveal that, other-oriented consumers were likely to have strong conspicuous consumption belief, whereas consumers with strong self-oriented value tended to place more importance on product quality attribute of luxury brands. Moreover, Consumers who take into account extended-self tended to have strong conspicuous consumption belief while consumer who put more importance on experientialism were more likely to have greater importance on product quality atthbute. And both conspicuous consumption belief and product quality belief influenced positive attitude formation toward luxury brands.
The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between lifestyles and clothing purchasing behavior. The questionnaire was administered to 644 females aged 30∼40 in Taegu during April 21 to April 26 of 1997. Data was analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, factor analysis, reliability test, MANOVA, and ANDVA by suing SPss package. 1. The lifestyles of the respondents were classified into fived types such as consumption oriented, economics-oriented, achievement-oriented, family-oriented, and conservative-oriented type. And clothing purchasing behavior was classified into six categories such as individuality, convenience, economy, ostentation, decorums, and practicality. 2. The results of lifestyle and clothing purchasing behavior analysis were as follows ; 1) All of five positive groups of consumption·economics·achievement·family and conservative-oriented type had an inclination for economy and individuality. And some differences were found according to the consumers, interest even in the same lifestyle. 2) The positive groups of consumption oriented type thought much of individuality and ostentation but on the other hand the passive group thought much of practicality. 3) The positive groups of consumption oriented, and family-oriented types except economics oriented and conservative oriented types took up a strong attitude toward ostentation, and ostentation was found in passive group of the conservative-oriented type. 4) The positive group of economics-oriented, achievement-oriented and conservative-oriented types except consumption-oriented and family-oriented types had great concern for practicality in the case of clothing purchasing behavior. But also the passive group of conservative-oriented types had an inclination for practicality. 5) Generally five types of lifestyles and clothing purchasing behavior showed that all types had the greatest concern for economy and individuality, and common for practicality and ostentation. And all of five types had partial concern for convenience and showed no differences for decorums.

The pyramidal reaction wheel arrangement is one of the configurations that can be used in attitude control simulators for evaluation of attitude control performance in satellites. In this arrangement, the wheels are oriented in a pyramidal configuration with a tilt angle. In this paper, a study of pyramidal reaction wheel arrangement is carried out in order to find the optimum tilt angle that minimizes total power consumption of the system. The attitude control system is analyzed and the pyramidal configuration is implemented in numerical simulation. Optimization is carried out by using an iterative process and the optimum tilt angle that provides minimum system power consumption is obtained. Simulation results show that the system requires the least power by using optimum tilt angle in reaction wheels arrangement.
This study investigated the relationship between style of purchase behavior and search information, attitude, and behavior for energy saving. In addition, this paper classified several consumer groups based on their different styles of purchase behavior and investigated whether those groups differ in attitude and behavior for energy saving. The following is a summary of the main results. First, consumers were classified according to style of purchase behavior into a rational consumer group, a fashion- or brand-oriented group, a group uninterested in consumption, and a neutrally oriented group. Second, there were no significant differences among the four consumer groups in the amount of information search and the level of communication with other consumers related to energy-saving information; however, there were significant differences in terms of the information sources used. For example, the neutrally oriented group was more likely to use more objective information sources. Third, the level of attitude toward energy saving was more likely to be active when consumers were old and rational. Consumers with a high income, education and experience in energy saving, and an active attitude were more likely to be active in energy saving, especially in the disposal stage of purchase. Finally, attitude toward energy saving was the most influential factor in the level of energy-saving behavior.
Mothers play a major role in children's consumer socialization but little is known about differences in mother's consumer socialization tendencies and the antecedents causing the differences. This study addresses two research questions: First, what are the underlying dimensions of mother's consumer socialization? Second, what are the antecedent variables causing differences in mother's consumer socialization tendencies; can parental style, consumption-related attitudes (attitude toward marketplace and ads., attitude toward consumerism and consumption-oriented attitude) be used as a conceptual basis for hypothesizing these differences? The findings of this research were as follows: 1. Factor analysis suggested five underlying dimensions of mother's consumer socialization of children; Mother-child communication about consumption, Mediation of media, Reaction to purchase requests, Restriction of allowances and Restriction of consumption. 2. The differences in the mother's consumer socialization tendencies among different parental groups matched the differences in child-rearing behaviour suggested by Developmental Psychology and this provided support for expected relationships between general-consumer socialization tendencies, as measured by mothers' behaviour. 3. Differences were found on all factors according to mothers consumption-related attitude. This provided support for the expectation that mothers' consumption related attitudes are important antecedent variables causing differences in consumer socialization tendencies. Some implications and directions for future research were discussed.
The purposes of this study were to identify the overall levels of consumer problem, consumer competencies and purchase pattern of urban low-income consumers and to examine the factors affecting the consumer problem and the subareas-market environment problem(MEP) and transaction relation problem(TRP). The related factors, that is, independent variables were competencies-related factors(consumption-oriented attitude, attitude on consumerism, consumer knowledge), purchase pattern-related factors (search pattern, credit pattern, peddler pattern) and socio-demorgraphic factors(age, educational level, family size). For this purpose, a survey was conducted by interview using questionaires on 198 homemakers that lived in the poor areas of Seoul. Statistics used for data analysis were Frequency Distribution, Percentile, Mean, Pearson's Correlation, One-way ANOVA, Scheffe-test, Breakdown and Multiple Classification Analysis. Major findings were as follows: 1) In the level of consum r problem were in the middle level and the level of MEP were higher than that of TRP. The attitude on consumption-orientation was so negative, while attitude on consumerism was positive. The level of consumer knowledge was in the middle level. The urban low-income consumers searched a little and depended on credit and peddler in the low level. 2) Consumer problem perceived by urban low-income consumers differed significantly according to attitude on consumerism, credit pattern, monthly charge of peddler purchase. The MEP depended on attitude on consumerism and monthly charge of peddler purchase, and the TRP was affected by credit pattern and attitude on consumerism. Resulting from MCA, the most influencial variable was attitude on consumerism and credit pattern in the consumer problem, and attitude on consumerism in the MEP, and credit pattenr in the TRP.
This study tried to develop the theoretical backgrounds, explaining consumers energy consumption behavior and analyzed its effects. In other words, this study investigated the factors influencing the amount of electronic energy consumption. In this study, we used 678 questionnaires which were selected a quota sampling by living area who were above 20 years old and married. Summary of results of this study follows. First, attitude for energy saving was positively related with female, high school graduated large size of family members, elderly, and middle-class consumers. In addition, consumers' search for energy saving were appeared passively in young consumers under 30 years old, and the family with the highest household income. Consumers' purchasing energy-efficient products was presented in large size of family members, and young consumers. Second, consumers' environmental oriented behavior, action-directed behavior, healthseeking behavior were significantly related with energy saving behavior, and active information search for energy saving, but not with purchasing energy-efficient products and consuming behavior of electrical energy. Third, the quantity of electric energy consumption was affected by the size of family members, the living size of house related with high energy demand, the attitude for energy saving, and searching information for energy-saving.
Fashion cultural products represents cultural trend, and they are produced a lot in Korea to express the Korean culture and style. They are also tools that embody images of Korea. This study mainly focuses on the Korean traditional-patterned ornaments as fashion cultural products. Therefore, this study aims at developing a framework of consumers' attitudes and consumption behaviors about Korean traditional-patterned ornaments, examining how the characteristics are changed according to shopping orientation. For this purpose, a quantitative survey was carried out using 455 questionnaires from women in their 20s and over. The data were analyzed using frequency analysis, factor analysis, t-test, ANOVA, cluster analysis, and $x^2$-test. Findings of this study were as follows. First, half of the respondents were found to possess Korean traditional-patterned ornaments. However, consumers had positive attitudes and tend to purchase them for their own use rather than gifts, demonstrating that the potential for the market is large enough. Second, in accordance with their shopping orientation, consumers were sub-divided into four groups: trend/brand oriented, practicality/pleasure oriented, convenience oriented, and passive shoppers. The trend/brand oriented group showed highest levels of preference regarding purchase intentions of Korean traditional-patterned ornaments. This group also showed the strongest purchasing power on fashion items among the four groups. Third, this study presented animal, plant, geometric and abstract patterns to the respondents to examine their attitudes. It was found that consumers prefered plant-patterned ornaments rather than the others, demonstrating that they have stronger preference and purchase intention toward ornaments with more natural images.
The purposes of this study were to investigate the differences in clothing consumption behaviors among female consumer groups in their twenties and to understand the type of consumer group pursuing fast fashion. Questionnaire survey was conducted to 230 female consumers residing in Seoul and Kyung Gi area from June 18 to 29 in 2007, and 178 were used for data analysis. Data analysis were conducted with SPSS 12 program on the reliability test, factor analysis, cluster analysis, correlation analysis, ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test. Factors analyses were employed for the attitude toward fashion and shopping, and shopping motives. Four factors were formulated for the attitude toward fashion: interest in fashion, fashion-orientation, fashion leadership and fashion conformity. Six factors for the attitude toward shopping were found: information searching, shopping enjoyment, store patronage, impulse buying, brand-orientation and convenience. Buying motives for fashion goods were classified into 3 factors: for matching & occasion, to-be-in-fashion and for necessity. Four clusters were identified based on the attitude toward fashion: the fashion-interested, the fashion-indifferent, fashion leaders and the individuality-oriented. Among the groups, significant differences were found in information searching, shopping enjoyment and store patronage. Fashion leaders tended to spend more for expensive and up-to-dated fashion items, and for higher quantity than other groups. Consequently fashion leaders showed attractive customer characteristics for the fast fashion companies.
