Enterprise Resource Planning(ERP) systems offer pervasive business functionality the applications encompass virtually all aspects of the business. Understanding and managing this pervasiveness will result in a successful and productive business application platform. Because of this pervasiveness, implementations have ranged from great successes to complete failures. This article has two distinctive parts. The first proposes and discusses a systematic process based on consulting experiences of LG CNS (leading information system company in Korea) for ERP selection. Also, the second provides the key factors that are critical to the successful implementation of ERP. The second part reports the results of a study carried out to assess a number of different ERP implementations in different organizations. A case study method of investigation was used, and the experiences of five Korean manufacturing companies were documented. The critical factors in the adoption of ERP are identified as: learning from the experiences of others, appointment of a process innovator, establishment of committees and project teams, training and technical support for the users, and appropriate changes to the organizational structure and managerial responsibilities.

최근 들어 세계적으로 정보자산 유출에 대한 문제가 심각하게 대두되고 있다. 국가정보원 산업기밀보호센터에 따르면 첨단 기술 불법 유출 관련 사건 피해 기업 중 중소기업이 71%에 달하는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 대기업뿐만 아니라 중소기업 역시 정보보호 관리체계를 수립 운용하고 이를 인증 받아야 할 필요성이 있음을 뜻한다. 이러한 ISMS 인증을 받기 위해서는 외부 컨설팅 업체의 컨설팅이 필요하지만, 기업이 어떤 요인을 가지고 ISMS 인증을 위한 컨설팅 업체를 선정하는지에 대한 연구가 아직까지 미비한 수준이다. 본 연구에서는 중소기업이 어떠한 요인을 가지고 ISMS 인증을 위한 컨설팅 업체를 선정하는지 탐색적 요인분석 기법을 이용하여 실증적으로 분석하였다. 연구 결과 인적 능력 및 관리력, 시장 선도 능력, 컨설팅 진행 능력 및 실적, 물적 인적 자산규모 등 네 가지의 압축된 요인을 도출하였다.

In this study, we examined a spatial downscaling method based on Gradient and Inverse Distance Squared (GIDS) weighting to produce high-resolution grid data from a numerical weather prediction model over Korean Peninsula with complex terrain. The GIDS is a simple and effective geostatistical downscaling method using horizontal distance gradients and an elevation. The predicted meteorological variables (e.g., temperature and 3-hr accumulated rainfall amount) from the Limited-area ENsemble prediction System (LENS; horizontal grid spacing of 3 km) are used for the GIDS to produce a higher horizontal resolution (1.5 km) data set. The obtained results were compared to those from the bilinear interpolation. The GIDS effectively produced high-resolution gridded data for temperature with the continuous spatial distribution and high dependence on topography. The results showed a better agreement with the observation by increasing a searching radius from 10 to 30 km. However, the GIDS showed relatively lower performance for the precipitation variable. Although the GIDS has a significant efficiency in producing a higher resolution gridded temperature data, it requires further study to be applied for rainfall events.

Personal image concerns a person's talent, expertise, as well as the internal and external image. It is a core value that differentiates one individual from another. As personal branding via personal image management has become more important, there is a fast-growing number of online systems that provide self-test programs to analyze one's style and habits and also provide expert advice for not only styles but lifestyles as well. This study develops a systematic and objective personal image consulting system and offers basic information for the research of personal image making. For that purpose, the study attempts to examine the present state of global companies that use online image consulting programs and analyze their digital content. The results are as follows: 1) two domestic companies, Colorz and Atzine, and seven foreign companies, notably Covet and Boutique, were brisk in business; 2) two types of personal image-diagnosis programs - Visual search and Virtual matching - are now in operation; and 3) mobile applications exist as an evolved personal image-diagnosis program. With an increased interest in such programs, various companies at home and abroad are establishing systematic and scientific analysis systems, which are needed for personal image-making online. Under these circumstances, domestic companies are also urged to enhance levels of image-diagnosis content and actual commercialization and utilization, to develop programs that enable objectified, systematic personal image-making. To this end, the results of this study may serve as a helpful tool to consider future directions.

Objectives: As the demand to deal with pathogens in domestic research institutions has expanded and biological accidents have increased, the need for systematic biosafety management in infectious disease laboratories has grown. According to international standards, risk assessment (RA) is required for biosafety management. However, RA criteria have not been clearly established in Korea, so to this end I have attempted to determine RA criteria meeting international levels Methods: In order to provide RA criteria for application, I analyzed the RA criteria in use in the U.S., Europe and at international organizations. In order to ensure the public nature of the RA criteria, I constructed the research model through modified management consulting methodology reflecting the model of Radnor and O'Mahoney. Results: According to the results of the study, existing laboratory biosafety regulations were comparable to domestic laboratory safety laws. Existing laboratory biosafety standards that are designed around risk factors were found to be insufficient. An RA case to be carried out in infectious disease laboratories at the National Institute of Health of KCDC was identified. Conclusion: To establish a systematic risk management system meeting international standards, it was necessary first to harmonize the systems of national and international standards. In addition, in order to provide specific biosafety management on-site, I recognized a need for methodology and planning strategies to discover biosafety management so that it can be carried out as required through the RA of individual laboratories.

Korea, for the first time in the world, constructed 765 kV double circuits transmission lines, which has 3 phases and 6 bundles with vertical arrangement using steel pipes in 1998. Also in 2002, we developed 765kV outdoor full GIS substation with self-developed technology. KEPCO accumulated a wealth of technologies for 765kV system construction and operation, and are listed 5th in technology field in the world. With this advanced technologies, we are developing oversea business. We started with a projects, 'Development Study on the Power System Network Analysis in Myanmar' in 2001, and continued the project to transmission design, consulting for transmission technology including the education of foreign trainees in south-east and middle east asia. Currently, 12 overseas businesses including 330kV transmission system consulting in Ghana, are in progress. In 2007, beginning with 750 kV transmission consulting in China, we are operating ATT(Advanced Transmission Technology) training program, which educate engineers of government and utilities company from China, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos and Cambodia. However, for the successful development study on the power system, design of the power system and the training service, it is essential to standardize load design criteria in consideration of temperature, wind speed, air pressure and density, etc. of the other countries. Therefore, in this paper, standardized load design criteria for Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar is explained.

With the proliferation of WWW, providing more intelligence to Web sites has become a major concern in e-business industry. In recent days, this trend is more accelerated by prosperity of CRM (Customer Relationship Management) in terms of various aspects such as product recommendation, self after service, etc. To accomplish this goal, many e-companies are eager to embed web enabled rule-based system, that is, expert systems into their Web sites and several well-known commercial tools are already available in the market. Most of those tools are developed based on CGI so far but CGI based systems inherently suffer over-burden problem when there are too many service demands at the same time due to the nature of CGI. To overcome this limitation of the existing CGI based expert systems, we propose a new form of Web-enabled expert system using hyperlink-based inference mechanism. In terms of burden to Web server, our approach is proven to outperform CGI based approach theoretically and also empirically. For practical purpose, our this approach is implemented in a software system, WeBIS and a graphic rule editing methodology, Expert Diagram is incorporated into the system to facilitates rule generation and maintenance. WeBIS is now successfully operated for financial consulting in the web site of a leading financial consulting company in Korea.
