Stress variation analysis based on temperature measurements at Zhuhai Opera House

  • The Zhuhai Opera House has an external structure consisting of a type of spatial steel, where the stress of steel elements varies with the ambient temperature. A structural health monitoring system was implemented at Zhuhai Opera House, and the temperatures and stresses of the structures were monitored in real time. The relationship between the stress distribution and temperature variations was analysed by measuring the temperature and stresses of the steel elements. In addition to measurements of the structure stresses and temperatures, further simulation analysis was carried out to provide the detailed relationship between the stress distributions and temperature variations. The limited temperature measurements were used to simulate the structure temperature distribution, and the stress distributions of all steel elements of the structure were analysed by building a finite element model of the Zhuhai Opera House spatial steel structure. This study aims to reveal the stress distributions of steel elements in a real-world project based on temperature variations, and to supply a basic database for the optimal construction time of a spatial steel structure. This will not only provide convenient, rapid and safe early warnings and decision-making for the spatial steel structure construction and operation processes, but also improve the structural safety and construction accuracy of steel space structures.

  • This paper focuses on the development, verification and application of a three-dimensional nite element code for coupled thermal and structural analysis of roller compacted concrete arch dams. The Ostour Arch dam located on Ghezel-Ozan River, Iran, which was originally designed as conventional concrete arch dam, has been taken for the purpose of verication of the nite element code. In this project, RCC technology has been ascertained as an alternative method to reduce the cost of the project and make it competitive. The thermal analysis has been carried out taking into account the simulation of the sequence of construction, environmental temperature changes, and the wind speed. In addition, the variation of elastic modulus with time has been considered in this investigation using Concard's model. An attempt was made to compare the stresses developed in the dam body five years after the completion of the dam with those of end of the construction. It was seen that there is an increase in the tensile stresses after five years over stresses obtained immediately at the end of construction by 61.3%.

유한요소법에 의한 PREFLEX BEAM의 용접열분포 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Numerical Analysis of Welding Heat Distribution of Preflex Beam)

  • Preflex beam is a method of construction designed to hold the pre-compressive stresses over the concrete pier by the preflexion load. During the fabrication of the girder, welding causes residual stresses. The welding residual stresses must be relieved in order to generate the accurate compressive pre-stresses. In this study, to determine the thermal distribution characteristics on the girder by welding, both three-dimensional finite element analysis and two-dimensional finite element analysis, in a quasi-steady state, is carried out. After comparing each result between the three-dimensional analysis and the two-dimensional analysis, finite element analysis is carried out against the actual girder, and the welding thermal distribution characteristic over the preflex beam is analyzed. It is possible to provide the input data for the analysis of the welding residual stresses.

선형절삭시험에 의한 더블디스크커터와 싱글디스크커터의 커터 작용력과 축응력에 대한 실험적 평가 (Comparative analysis of cutter acting forces and axial stresses of single and double disc cutters by linear cutting tests)

  • 본 연구는 선형절삭시험 중에 동일한 커터 링 형상을 가진 더블디스크커터와 싱글디스크커터에 발생하는 커터작용력과 각 디스크커터 축에 발생하는 축응력 및 토크를 평가하였다. 선형절삭시험 결과, 선형절삭실험 중에 발생한 더블디스크커터의 연직력과 회전력의 평균값은 싱글디스크커터의 약 두 배 내외인 것으로 측정되었다. 더블디스크커터의 축에 작용하는 축응력의 평균값 역시 연직력과 마찬가지로 싱글디스크커터의 두 배 정도로 나타났지만, 토크의 경우에는 전체적으로 낮은 측정값을 보여 비교의 의미가 없는 것으로 판단되었다. 하지만 더블디스크커터의 연직력의 평균값이 직경 432 mm(17인치) 디스크커터의 허용하중을 상회하기 때문에 테이퍼 롤러 베어링의 내구성능에 대한 검토가 필요한 것으로 판단되었다. 또한 더블디스크커터 축에 작용하는 축응력은 싱글디스크커터의 약 두 배 정도로 발생하였지만, 일반적으로 사용하는 디스크커터 축 재료의 항복강도를 고려할 때 적용 상에 문제가 없는 것으로 나타났다.

  • Recently, the underground reinforced concrete(RC) box structures have been increasingly built in Korea. In such structures, the heat of hydration may cause serious cracking problems. The RC box structures are classified in this category that needs much attention to control the hydration heat during construction. The purpose of the present study is to analyse the parameters which are related to the thermal crackings of the box structures. In this study, the quantitative studies of thermal stresses according to construction conditions in the RC box structures are thoroughly analysed. Major influencing variables are studied through the finite element analysis which affect the thermal cracking of RC box structures.

  • In this paper, a study on the residual stress of plate with longitudinal stiffeners is explained in terms of the welding sequences. In order to verify the results of numerical analysis, the hole drilling method (HDM) is performed, to measuring the residual stresses of the test plates in $CO_2$ Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) under various welding conditions. The non-linear transient analysis technique for the numerical analysis in a large and complicate structure is considered. The residual stress of plate in consideration of the welding sequences and directions is evaluated by some numerical simulations and also by experiments. Comparison of numerical analysis results with experimental data shows the accuracy and validity of the proposed method.

  • Recently. the properties of early-age concrete are increasingly important because these properties directly influence the behavior of early-age concrete structures including stress and cracking behavior. Nevertheless, the studies on early-age concrete are limited to strength and temperature development. The purpose of present study is to propose a simple and rational method which can predict the stress and strain behavior of young age concrete. A series of test have been done to measure the temperature development, strains and stresses in concrete members. The concept of equivalent age was used to define the degree of hydration and this degree of hydration was used to calculate the strength and elastic modulus. The present study indicates that the calculated stresses correlate fairly well with measured stresses. The consideration of critical degree of hydration in calculating stresses gives more accurate results. The present study provides useful method and data in evaluating early-age behavior of concrete structure.

매개변수해석을 통한 원형 강관의 전단좌굴응력 상세분석 (Analysis of Shear Buckling Stresses for Steel Pipes by Detailed Parametric Study)

  • 본 연구에서는 매개변수해석을 통하여 횡력에 의한 강관의 전달좌굴응력에 대해 분석을 하였다. 비선형좌굴에 의한 전단좌굴응력을 산정하기 위해 ABAQUS의 상세 쉘 모델을 적용한 유한요소해석을 수행하였으며, 매개변수로는 강종, 두께, 반지름 그리고 길이를 선택하였다. 해석대상 강종은 STK400, STK490, SM570이며, 강재의 두께는 2mm, 40mm로 하였고 반지름과 부께의 비(R/t)는 20~200, 길이와 반지름의 비(L/R)는 1~3이 되도록 하였다. 모든 강종에서 R/t이 20에서 200으로 변화하였을 때 전단좌굴응력은 감소하였고, 저강도 강재보다 고강도 강재일수록 R/t의 변화에 민감하며, 전단좌굴응력에 미치는 영향도 커지는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 L/R이 증가할수록 전단좌굴강도가 작아지는 것으로 보아 강관의 길이가 길수록 전단좌굴에 취약하다는 것을 알 수 있다.

시공단계를 고려한 고층건물 콘크리트 슬래브의 건조수축 응력해석 (Shrinkage Stress Analysis of Concrete Slab in Multi-Story Building Considering Construction Sequence)

  • 고층건물 콘크리트 슬래브에 발생하는 건조수축변형은 기둥이나 벽체 등의 구조부재에 의해 변형발생이 제한되고 이로 인한 인장응력이 부재의 인장강도를 초과하게 되면 균열이 발생한다. 이 논문에서는 건조수축과 크리프, 철근효과 등 콘크리트의 재료특성과 시공단계에 따른 건조수축을 고려하여 슬래브에 발생하는 응력을 산정하는 실용적인 해석방법을 제안하였다. 건조수축으로 인해 부재에 작용하는 인장응력은 건조수축변형을 등가온도하중으로 치환하여 계산할 수 있으며, 건조수축과는 달리 응력을 이완시켜 주는 크리프의 영향은 콘크리트의 탄성계수 Ec 대신에 크리프를 고려한 콘크리트의 유효탄성계수 E eff를 사용하고, 배근된 철근은 등가의 보요소로 모델링하여 해석에 반영할 수 있다. 또한 고층건물 슬래브에서 발생하는 건조수축응력은 그 층에서 발생한 건조수축량과 하부 층의 건조수축량의 차이인 유효건조수축에 의한 응력임을 고려하여 각 시공단계마다 발생하는 응력을 단계별 해석을 수행하여 구하고 이를 합산함으로서 슬래브에 최종적으로 발생하는 응력을 산정한다. 10층 규모에 예제건물을 대상으로 해석한 결과, 상부 층으로 갈수록 점차 건조수축응력이 줄어들며 전체 구조물에 발생한 응력은 저층부(1~2층)에서는 기준강도를 초과하나 3층 이상의 고층부에서는 기준강도의 27.9~92.8% 수준으로 나타났다.
