  • To ensure radiological safety margin in the transport and storage of spent nuclear fuel, it is crucial to perform source term and shielding analyses in advance from the perspective of conservation. When performing source term analysis on UO2 fuel, which is mostly used in commercial nuclear power plants, uranium and oxygen are basically considered to be the initial materials of the new fuel. However, the presence of impurities in the fuel and structural materials of the fuel assembly may influence the source term and shielding analyses. The impurities could be radioactive materials or the stable materials that are activated by irradiation during reactor power operation. As measuring the impurity concentration levels in the fuel and structural materials can be challenging, publicly available information on impurity concentration levels is used as a reference in this evaluation. To assess the effect of impurities, the results of the source term and shielding analyses were compared depending on whether the assumed impurity concentration is considered. For the shielding analysis, generic cask design data developed by KEPCO-E&C was utilized.

  • The rotor dynamics and balancing technic for rotating equipment during engineering and manufacture stage are to be carefully considered in order to minimize the operation troubles regarding vibration during commissioning stage. In this paper, the test rig, which includes the disks as balancing plane, is designed and manufactured, so that the characteristic of rotor dynamics can be analyzed such as critical speed and mode shape. The critical speed predicted through natural frequency analysis is verified by the actual measurement on bearing housing vibration during start-up condition of test rig. The low speed balancing and the operating speed balancing test are performed respectively with consideration of first critical speed, and the residual unbalance amounts are estimated in accordance with the relevant method described in API standard. In addition, the single and dual plane balancing are carried out on main disk and trim disk depended on phase information at each balancing step.

  • Purpose : This study is conducted to analyze the safe awarenece, its related health education and the employee's requirements in a prime supplier and its subcontractor company, suggesting the proper measure in employee education program. Method : The employees of 'S' construction company and its subcontractor are surveyed during the period of April 15 from May 15 in 2016. The 324 questionnaires are statistically analyzed with the version 21.0 of SPSS. The general characteristics were calculated through the frequency analysis and descriptive statistics. The difference in safe consciousness between prime and subcontractor employee group was analyzed using t-test. Result : The statistics shows the employees in the prime company tend to observe the safe rules rather than the subcontractor employees(p<.005), but the latter are more conscious of safety in working environment than the former(p<.005). In addition, the subcontractor company did not provide his employees with the site for the safety-health education. Conclusion : The small-sized subcontractor company should identify its employees' requirements and supplement the lack of the safety and health education for the prevention of the industrial disasters. In details, the hand-on and practice-oriented leaning and teaching program development are suggested.

  • In the building construction, the steel-frame work occupies an important position in terms of structure, cost and quality. Especially in Japan, steel frames have traditionally been the main structure of many buildings. For steel-frame works in such positions, this paper investigates an existing steel fabricator to clarify the actual conditions of design decision making process and management method in steel production process. This study focuses on a steel fabricator (Company M in the following sentences), whose main market is Japan and which has facilities in Thailand, China, and Japan. Company M uses QR codes to control the production status of products, and exchanges all information between inside and outside the company via specialized departments in the form of documents. The authors have already analyzed the relationship between production lead time and defect rate based on actual project data at Architectural Institute of Japan in 2016. In 2019, we expressed the process from the confirmation of the design information of the current steel frame to the production by WBS, and clarified the relationship between the production lead time and steel frame product quality structurally. In this paper, the authors reoport the progress of the survey conducted so far, the positioning of the collected data, and the future survey policy.

  • The purpose of the current study is to explore what are critical success factors(CSFs) from Posco Engineering and Construction Company's knowledge management practice. From a deep case study of the company, five CSFs are delineated. The first factor is to clarify knowledge management vision and strategy so that people in the company clearly understand directions of where the company goes to implement knowledge management. The second one is to grip the whole picture of knowledge management realms. Narrow eyes for the knowledge management leads to failure. The third factor depends on how to acquire people's cooperation. The fourth one has something to do with a way of approach. Unilateral or delegated approach is fragile for the successful implementation of knowledge management. Shared approach raises the probability of success. The fifth one is to monitor implementation acts and processes.

  • Estimating the cost of injuries and "accidents" to an organization is very important to figure out about how much well each organization has run his company and how much efficiently he has got the results using a certain amount of the expense for safety. Despite the potential usefulness to management of information as to the cost of a company's "accidents", it is not customary accounting practice to make these data available. Of the two general kinds of costs forced on a company by its occupational injuries and "accidents", the insurance cost and uninsured cost, -the former is by far the easier to find out. But actually, this uninsured cost should be figured out at each company. Authors have designed the generalized model to figure out the above problem costs to establish its efficient safety control. One construction company has been a pilot for this study. It is found that efficient safety control cost should be 1.2%~l.3% of total selling amount by analyzing actual data for three years.g actual data for three years.

  • What is the Meaning of the Knowledge Management?, That is gathering, renewal of old knowledge, communication and creation of new knowledge. The major three key factors for the successful knowledge management in construction industry is well cooperation between following factors ; the willingness of the CEO(in its organization). creation of Cooperation culture in company organization through its members participation and the Activity of the Knowledge management Team in company. But most important factors in successful Promotion for the Knowledge Management is the creation of Cooperation culture in company organization through its members participation, without creating the company culture, there is no successful way in knowledge management business in all business. The other important thing in knowledge management is the creating of the recording culture in company business activity. The greatest purpose of knowledge management is the through the KM activity, we ensure the gathering, renewal of old knowledge, communication and creation of new knowledge and capitalization of knowledge. and the result of the KM is strengthen the company and preparing the our future and new mission.

  • In this paper, the two-dimensional(2D) and three-dimensional(3D) analyses have been performed in order to evaluate the structural integrities and compare 2D and 3D results for nozzles attached to cylindrical shells. Three nozzles, which are currently used in the nuclear power plant, are chosen to evaluate the structural integrities, and each nozzle is subjected to internal pressure, temperature variation and external loads. It is found that the 2D analysis for internal pressure should be performed with a factor of more than 1.5 or a stress concentration factor; 2D and 3D analysis results for temperature variation are almost similar to each other regardless of cladding; and the analysis results for external loads by WRC Bulletin 297 are more conservative than the 3D analysis results.
