  • In this paper, we present a joint quality control system to be able to accurately control the relative picture quality among the video programs in terms of PSNR. The joint quality control system allows variable bit rate (VBR) for each video program to maintain the pre-determined relative picture quality among the aggregated video programs while keeping a constant sum of the bit rates for all programs to be transmitted over a single constant bit rate (CBR) channel. This is achieved by simultaneous controlling the video encoders to generate VBR video streams at the central controller. Furthermore we also suggest buffer regulation method based on the analysis of the constraints imposed by sender/receiver buffer sizes and total transmission rate. Through various simulation results, it is found that our quality control systems guarantee that the video buffers do not overflow and underflow and the quality control errors do not exceed 0.1 ㏈.

  • This paper presents a selective duality control system to control relative picture quality among the video programs in terms of Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) . The selective quality control system allows variable bit rate (VBR) for each video program to maintain the pre-determitted relative picture Quality among aggregated video programs while keeping a constant bit rate for alt programs to be transmitted over a single constant bit rate (CBR) channel. Thus is achieved by simultaneous controlling the video encoders to generate VBR video streams at the central controller. furthermore, we also suggest a buffer regulation method based on the analysis of the constraints Imposed by sender/receiver buffer sizes and the total transmission rate. Through various simulation results, it is found that the proposed quality control system guarantees that the video buffers neither overflow nor underflow and the quality control errors do not exceed 0.1 dB.

  • In this paper, for analysing the major factors giving the effect to the quality of HD level video on the multicasting service, we tried this test experiment on the College school network similar to the real service network environment. We measure the video quality distortion on the multicasting HD level video according to generating and increasing the broadcasting traffic on the situation that apply the QoS technique to the test network and not apply the QoS technique and then find out the threshold value of network factors giving the effect to the video quality distortion on the multicasting HD level video service. This paper can be used for guaranteeing the constant video quality and reducing the video quality distortion on the multicasting HD level video service.

  • In this paper, we propose a rate control algorithm for constant quality real time video coding. To achieve constant quality, previous algorithm exploit mean absolute of difference(MAD) as measure of frame complexity. However, if scene is abruptly changed or if quantization parameter is not constant, encoder produces various output bits with same MAD. Therefore we know that MAD does not appropriately reflect characteristic of frame. To solve this problem, we exploit model parameter as measure of frame complexity. Because model parameter means slope between output bits and MAD, it reflects correctly complexity of frame. And because previous model, R-MAD model, is not considered quantization parameter, as quantization parameter increases or decreases, model parameter of frame also vary. So model parameter obtained using previous model cannot reflect internal characteristic of video. We solve this problem using proposed model, which is considered quantization parameter. Experiment results show that our algorithm provide better performance, in terms of quality smoothness than previous algorithm. Especially, when scene is abruptly changed, our algorithm alleviates quality drop.

  • In video camera, an automatic video quality compensation method using the dynamic range transform is proposed. The histogram is used to decide the nonuniformness of picture brightness by nonuniform lighting. The gray level is divided four regions, and the histogram is obtained per one field. We introduce a new parameter, nonuniformness, defined by the cumulative difference between its CDF and LCDF. We also propose the decision function of the dynamic range transform constant versus its nonuniformness, and compensate the quality of video automatically.

  • The use of scalable video coding scheme has been regarded as a promising solution for guaranteeing the quality of service of the video streaming over the Internet because it is a capable coding scheme to perform quality adaptation depending on network conditions. In this paper, we use a streaming model that transmits base layer using TCP and enhancement layers using DCCP, which try to provide transmission reliability of the BL and TCP friendliness. Unlike pervious works, the proposed algorithm performs rate adaptation based on playout buffer status. The PoB status of the client is sent back periodically to the server and serves as a network congestion indicator. Experimental results show that our scheme improves streaming quality comparing with pervious scheme in the case of not only constant/dynamic background flows but also VBR-encoded video sequence.

  • The existing research on the QoS of the Streaming video system(SVS) adjust the video stream being sent from the network perspective, the focus is to prevent data loss and delay. The other hand, changing the quality of the video stream will not receive the guaranteed QoS from the perspective of the users who want uniform quality. In order to solve these problems, this paper applied to ensure that the benefits in the amount of bits per frame occurs Encoder CBR streaming video is kept constant and uniform picture quality advantages of VBR streaming video VBR to CBR Encoder and CBR to VBR Decoder, Video was designed to control the playback stream for And to ensure a uniform quality of the user based on the design and implementation of uniform quality guaranteed SVS. PSNR evaluated for several characteristics of the sample video to demonstrate the superiority of the SVS ensure uniform quality, the proposed Performance evaluation of the SVS ensure uniform quality CBW the ABR from 100% to ensure uniform image quality from 85% to environmental excellence is proved.

  • We propose a new video compression method based on MCTF(motion compensated temporal filtering) with constant quality. SPECK is an efficient image compression coding method of encoding DWT coefficients. Especially SPECK method is very efficient for coding the motion compensated residual image which usually has larger amounts of high frequency components than the natural images. And proposed multi block size hierarchical motion estimation technique is more efficient than classical block matching algorithm with fixed block size both in estimation precision and operation costs. Proposed video method based on MCTF video compression can also support multi-frame rate decoding with reasonable complexity. Simulation results showed that proposed method outperforms H.263 video compression standard.

  • Video streaming services make up a large proportion of Internet traffic on both fixed and mobile access throughout the world. Adaptive streaming allows for dynamical adaptation of the bitrate with varying network conditions, to guarantee the best user experience. Adaptive bitrate algorithms face a significant challenge in correctly estimating the throughput as it varies widely over time. In this paper, we first evaluate the throughput estimation techniques and show that the method that we have used offers stable response to throughput fluctuations while maintaining a stable playback buffer. Then, we propose an adaptive bitrate scheme that intelligently selects the video bitrates based on the estimated throughput and buffer occupancy. We show that the proposed scheme improves viewing experience by achieving a high video rate without taking unnecessary risks and by minimizing the frequency of changes in the video quality. Furthermore, we show that it offers a stable response to short-term fluctuations and responds swiftly to large fluctuations. We evaluate our algorithm for both constant bitrate (CBR) and variable bitrate (VBR) video content by taking into account the segment sizes and show that it significantly improves the quality of video streaming.
