The metal films ink-jetted using the conductive ink based on a mixture of copper and silver nanoparticles were investigated. The porosity and resistivity of films were minimized by adjusting the mixing ratio of Cu and Ag nanoparticles. We demonstrated that the printed tracks with good conductivity could be obtained at sufficiently lower annealing temperatures where plastic substrates could be used.
In this investigation, conductivity of conductive inks was measured. A particular attention has been given to the effect of metal powders with various conductivity on the overall conductivity of the bulk ink. The conductivity of various solutions simulating conductive inks consisting of copper and silver was measured and the results have been discussed in relation to various applications of conductive inks in practice. A conductivity model simulating systems consisting of various materials has been introduced and the results were discussed. Materials of good conductivity are adversely affected by mixing with materials of poor conductivity simply through serial connection. However, parallel connection has rather little effect on the overall conductivity. The practical implication of various mixtures of materials on conductive inks has been discussed.
Copper nano particles have been considered as the materials for conductive ink due to its good thermal, electrical conductivity and low cost. However, copper nanoparticles oxidize easily, decreasing dispersion stability and electrical conductivity. Therefore, it is important to develop a method to minimize oxidation of copper nano particles to improve its dispersion stability property in copper nano ink. In this study, copper nano particles were coated with 1-Octanethiol VSAM(Vaporized Self Assembled Multilayers) to prevent oxidation and coated copper powders were dispersed in conductive ink successfully by studying its relationship of different chain length of solvents to 1-Octanethiol coating layer to fabricate nano ink. Various alcohol solvents, such as 1-Hexanol, 1-Octanol, and 1-Decanol were used. The coating layer was observed using FESEM and TEM. Furthermore, dispersion of copper nano particles in nano inks, was characterized using Turbiscan analyzer, viscometer, and contact angle measurement tool.
This study was carried out in order to evaluate the effect of coated weight and calender pressure on conductivity of printed RFID tags. The printed RFID tags have been manufactured with gravure printing and it has been well known that the efficiency of printed RFID tags is influenced by surface properties of substrate. In this study, coated paper was prepared with four different coated weight and three different calender pressure. After printing conductivity ink on coated paper, surface resistance was measured to evaluate the efficiency of the printed RFID tag. It was found that, with increasing of coated weight and calender pressure, the paper gloss, smoothness, brightness and gravure printability were improved while the surface resistance of the printed RFID tag was decreased.
RFID method is a non-contact automatic identification technology, which attaches microchips and antennas to an object in a tag form, to send and process information sent to the network using wireless frequency. Drying and curing process is extremely important which minimizes the resistivity of RFID antennas. This research is about the drying characteristic of conductivity ink, and analyzes and compares the hot-air drying process and infrared drying process. Also, the research was done for the improvement in drying performance by using combined process of hot-air and infrared mechanism. The experiment result shows that the hot-air or infrared drying system used alone cannot meet the required performance in drying printing method using conductivity ink. The combined drying system of hot-air and infrared ray showed resistance low enough in short drying and curing time, and this mechanism makes drying and curing process for mass and continuous production possible on-line.
This research is about the drying and curing characteristic of conductivity metallic ink on-line curing device in order to improve the curing time for productivity in RFID Gravure printing. The curing process is carried out to increase the electric conductivity after the metallic ink is printed on the substrate. The metal ink is composed of nano-sized silver or copper particles. In this research, the combined IR and Hot air curing system is used and its results is compared with those of oven, IR and Hot Air type respectively. Generally the curing time in the past is about 3 minutes. But the combined system (IR+Hot Air) in this research shows that curing time is less than 30 seconds. These results is much faster than those of other system. This study can be help to make Roll-to-Roll drying and curing process for mass and continuous production on-line.

Soft-pressure sensors have numerous applications in soft robotics, biomedical devices, and wearable smart devices. Herein, we present a highly sensitive electronic skin device with an isotropic wrinkled pressure sensor. A conductive ink for soft pressure sensors is produced by a solution process using polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), poly 3-hexylthiophene (P3HT), carbon black, and chloroform as the solvents. P3HT provides high reproducibility and conductivity by improving the ink dispersibility. The conductivity of the ink is optimized by adjusting the composition of the carbon black and PDMS. Soft lithography is used to fabricate a conductive elastic structure with an isotropic wrinkled structure. Two conductive elastic structures with an isotropic wrinkle structure is stacked to develop a pressure sensor, and it is confirmed that the isotropic wrinkle structure is more sensitive to pressure than when two elastic structures with an anisotropic wrinkle structure are overlapped. Specifically, the pressure sensor fabricated with an isotropic wrinkled structure can detect extremely low pressures (1.25 Pa). Additionally, the sensor has a high sensitivity of 15.547 kpa-1 from 1.25 to 2500 Pa and a linear sensitivity of 5.15 kPa-1 from 2500 Pa to 25 kPa.

This article proposes a design of chipless RFID tag with dipole array structure that is fully printable using conductive ink. The proposed tags encode data based on spectral signature modulations. The reading range is considerably increased (2 m) while maintaining low transmission power (1 mW). Several prototype chipless RFID tags were fabricated and measured in the SHF and UHF bands. The proposed dipole array structure enhances the antenna gain of the passive tags and contributes to overcoming the low conductivity of conductive ink. In order to verify the utility of our proposal, the tags are manufactured on paper, using conductive ink, for the purpose of economic mass production.
