Numerical analysis of the axially loaded concrete filled steel tube columns with debonding separation at the steel-concrete interface

  • The interaction between steel tube and concrete core is the key design considerations for concrete-filled steel tube columns. In a concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) column, the steel tube provides confinement to the concrete core which permits the composite action among the steel tube and the concrete. Due to construction faults and plastic shrinkage of concrete, the debonding separation at the steel-concrete interface weakens the confinement effect, and hence affects the behaviour and bearing capacity of the composite member. This study investigates the axial loading behavior of the concrete filled circular steel tube columns with debonding separation. A three-dimensional nonlinear finite element model of CFST composite columns with introduced debonding gap was developed. The results from the finite element analysis captured successfully the experimental behaviours. The calibrated finite element models were then utilized to assess the influence of concrete strength, steel yield stress and the steel-concrete ratio on the debonding behaviour. The findings indicate a likely significant drop in the load carrying capacity with the increase of the size of the debonding gap. A design formula is proposed to reduce the load carrying capacity with the presence of debonding separation.

  • In this Study, we examined the influence of characteristics of rolling loads by casters on separation resistance of substrate concrete and synthetic resin floor coating. In the experiment, we first prepared floor samples having substrate concrete of various compressive strength, surface hardness and surface configurations, then put the coated samples to the test of separation resistance with Rolling Caster Loading Machine. Three loading conditions consisted of different kinds of casters, rolling conditions, and coating materials. Consequently, we clarified that the grade of separation resistance varied widely according to the characteristics of substrate concrete and rolling loads.

예비가열법에 의한 폐콘크리트 재생골재의 물성개선 (The Improvement of Properties of Recycled aggregates using Concrete Waste by Pre-heating Method.)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide the basic data on the optimum method for interfacial separation for an effective recycle of concrete waste by using the thermal properties of concrete. Therefore, this study is proceeded by dividing the interface of concrete into cement paste and fine aggregates or mortar and coarse aggregate, considering the aspect of recycled cement and aggregate as the recycling use of concrete waste. As results of the experiment, in case of recycle cement, the interfacial separation is easily appeared, but it is shown that the mixed amount of powder included in fine aggregate doesn't greatly decrease. But, in case of recycle coarse aggregate, the effect of interfacial separation by preliminary heating is predominant. Especially, the bonding rate of mortar is the lowest when it is heated 5 times for 120 minutes at $300^{\circ}C$. Hence, it is considered that it will be an excellent effect of quality control when the results of this study is applied to a manufacturing system of recycle coarse aggregate which is about to put into practical use.

  • 폐콘크리트를 재활용한 순환골재에는 모르타르나 시멘트페이스트가 많이 부착되어 있어 밀도가 낮고 흡수율이 높아 구조용 골재로 사용할 수 없는 실정이다. 그러나 생산된 순생골재 내에는 많은 양의 콘크리트용 순환골재가 포함되어 있으며 이들을 비중선별을 통해 선별하여 콘크리트용 순환골재를 생산할 수 있었다.

  • Steel plate bonding technique is most widely used in strengthening of existing concrete structures, but it has inherently a problem of the premature failure such as interface separation and rip off. So far, many studies have been arid out in the manner of laboratory tests for the reinforced concrete beams to find out he mechanism of the premature failure. However, in order to verify the characteristics of the premature failure, more reasonable local investigations are needed rather than such relatively global experimental works. In this study, therefore, the double lap test which simulate the pure shear loadings and the half beam tests which consider combined flexure-shear force have been done. There are, however, difficulties in getting the normal stress caused to premature failure, so that finite element analysis was performed, too. In numerical study, material nonlinearity was considered, and the interface element was applied to model the interface between steel plate and adhesive. From the results of experimental and numerical studies, a realistic failure criterion on the separation of steel plates has been derived.

  • 폐콘크리트를 재활용하기 위하여 파쇄과정과 입도조절과정을 거쳐서 생산된 재생골재에는 모르타르나 시멘트페이스트가 많이 부착되어 있어 밀도가 낮고 흡수율이 높아 구조용 골재로 사용할 수 없는 실정이다. 그러나 생산된 재생골재 내에는 많은 양의 콘크리트용 재생골재가 포함되어 있으며 이들을 비중선별방법 중 중액선별을 통해 선별하여 콘크리트용 1종 재생골재를 약 45%정도를 생산할 수 있었다.

도폭선을 이용한 콘크리트 블록 절단 연구 (Cutting of Concrete Block Using Detonating Cords)

  • 도폭선과 수평분리판을 이용한 현장타설 말뚝 두부를 제거하는 방법을 제안하였다. 무근 콘크리트 블록을 제작하였고, 콘크리트 블록 발파실험을 통하여 말뚝 두부 절단에 필요한 도폭선 약량과 최소저항선을 확인하였다. AUTODYN 2D를 이용하여 두부 절단 후 콘크리트 블록의 손상 정도를 확인하였다. 실험결과 10g/m 도폭선과 수평분리판을 이용한 콘크리트 블록 절단을 확인하였고, 수평분리판을 사용하여 블록의 방향성 절단과 도폭선에 의한 블록 손상이 저감됨을 확인하였다.

폭약 이격에 따른 강판과 콘크리트 부재의 파괴양상 연구 (A Study on Blasting Aspect of Steel Member and Concrete Member According to Separation distance of Explosives)

  • 외부장약 발파시 부재와 폭약의 이격거리에 따른 절단 및 파괴양상을 확인하기 위하여 강 부재와 콘크리트 부재에 TNT 카트리지 폭약을 이용하여 실험을 하였다. 실험 결과 강 부재나 콘크리트 부재에 대한 파괴 장전공식은 다소 보수적인 것으로 판단되었다. 콘크리트 부재에 비해 강 부재가 폭약 이격거리에 대한 파괴영향이 큰 것으로 판단된다. 강 부재의 경우 표준폭약 이상으로 장전해도 폭약이 부재에서 2cm 이격된 경우 절단되지 않고 구부러짐만 나타났다. 같은 이격에 대하여 콘크리트 블록 부재의 경우 구조물의 파괴를 유도하는데 문제가 없을 것으로 판단된다.

VOLUME REDUCTION OF DISMANTLED CONCRETE WASTES GENERATED FROM KRR-2 AND UCP

  • As part of a fundamental study on the volume reduction of contaminated concrete wastes, the separation characteristics of the aggregates and the distribution of the radioactivity in the aggregates were investigated. Radioisotope $^{60}Co$ was artificially used as a model contaminant for non-radioactive crushed concrete waste. Volume reduction for radioactively contaminated dismantled concrete wastes was carried out using activated heavy weight concrete taken from the Korea Research Reactor 2 (KRR-2) and light weight concrete from the Uranium Conversion Plant (UCP). The results showed that most of the $^{60}Co$ nuclide was easily separated from the contaminated dismantled concrete waste and was concentrated mainly in the porous fine cement paste. The heating temperature was found to be one of the effective parameters in the removal of the radionuclide from concrete waste. The volume reduction rate achieved was above 80% for the KRR-2 concrete wastes and above 75% for the UCP concrete wastes by thermal and mechanical treatment.

강판 휨보강된 철근 콘크리트보의 구조적 거동 (Structural Behavior of RC Beam Strengthened with Steel Plate)

  • In recent years, strengthening by epoxy-bonded steel plates, carbon fiber sheets, aramid fiber sheets and so on, is spotlighted. Among them, the method using steel plates is most widely applied. Most studies have dealt with strengthening by epoxy-bonded steel plates. However the actual behavior of strengthened RC beams are not well established. Particularly, the studies on the separation load thar affects failure load of the beam are relatively insufficient. In this study, test parameters are the magnitude of pre-load, plate length, plate thickness, existence and spacing of anchor bolt, the number of plate layer and the height of side strengthening, 17reinforced concrete beams are strengthened by steel plates according to test parameters. Deflection, failure load, strains of reinforcing bar, concrete and plate are measured from tests(4 points loading). The failure mode, and separation load are analyzed from these measured data. The difference between Robert's theory and test results is discussed, and the prediction equation for separation load in the case of rip off is proposed.
