  • Co-creation is a new business strategy that creates "mutual value" for both the firm and the consumer through active collaboration among stakeholders. This includes a broader range of participants compared to the traditional environment. Co-creation is currently being applied to a wide range of fields such as marketing, manufacturing, governance, and other disciplines. With a growing interest in co-creation, it is vital to establish a clearly define concept of what co-creation is and what it encompasses. Therefore, the goal of this study is to define the concept of co-creation, to discover current research trends within this area, and to suggest a future research agenda. For this study extensive literature review on co-creation was carried out, adding this paper to the body of co-creation research as a pioneer study.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the major influence of postmodernism on 20th century fashion. Due to its characteristic traits like pluralism, indeterminacy, and immanence, it can be said that postmodernism in fashion manifests itself in an overlapped and duplicated style. The conceptual side has to do with such various 20th century thoughts as decanonization, deconstruction, populism, and in fashion it is presented as subcultural style, syncretic style, and post-feminist style. The stylistic side of postmodernism in fashion also has to do with fragmentation, hybridity, stress on performance and participation, carnivalization, deconstructive turn, and it is presented as hybrid expression, deconstructive technique, performance, and so on. In the latter part of the 20th century in which postmodernism blossoms in various fields, fashion also participates in the current of the times, together with the rapid stylistic turn, the co-existence of various trends, and the experimental or avant-garde new trials. However, it should be said that all of these tendencies mean not so much blurring of the boundaries between styles as developmental mixture of styles coming from juxtaposition after fully realizing the boundaries of contrast and combination.

  • We in this paper propose a prognosis graph, analyzing prognoses of each pattern described in the Korean medicine literatures. This graph is represented as the integrated graphs about knowledge of patterns and their transitions in the prognoses, where a node becomes a pattern name and a edge becomes a transition between patterns, along with a condition with respect to cause or mechanism of the pattern. The knowledge of prognoses which a pattern is transit into another pattern can be identified at a glance by using this model. We also construct a upper-level prognosis graph, excluding five viscera and six entrails from the model. This upper-level prognosis graph contains the conceptual knowledge than clinical one so that it may be helpful to students and researchers in the Korean medicine fields.

  • The clear and mechanical definition of quality is the key success factor for its wide adoption across various industries and non-profit organizations and its popularity as a managerial goal. However, 'Quality of Life'(QOL) which is a common research subject for the various social science fields seems to require a quite different conceptualization of quality. The paper is a conceptual paper which identifies the compatibility and differences between a traditional quality concept and quality in QOL studies. Also, demonstrating from the social systems perspective how quality is conceptualized in measuring the social dimensions of consumption environmental quality, the paper argues the necessity of a broadened concept regarding quality.

  • This study aims to extend the research areas of the organization behavior(OB) fields. The paper assumes that the main thrust of "Productivity through people" in the traditional OB has to be replaced by the "Creativity through people" paradigm. OB research issues and topics have not been expended or explored during the past 40 years, but been criticized such as a saturated field and even more "moribund or fallow" areas. Recently, new theoretical and research trends are identified in the area of creativity studies and in OB in general. Conceptual debates and different thoughts on the creativity studies (including creative behaviors) are reviewed selectively. Also, some theoretical issues and research implications are discussed and suggested.

  • Over the past two decades, smart cities have been attracting attention as a means of solving urban problems and as a model for securing urban sustainability. Many studies have been conducted in various fields such as conceptual definitions, classification, new technologies, case analysis, and civic participation of smart cities. In particular, applicable technologies and their importance have been highlighted so far. However, since a city is a complex and meta-systematic space, it is the overly optimistic prospect that technology, one of the smart city components, will lead to successful smart cities. This study elucidates the impediments to driving smart cities as a case study of South Korea, a leading country in smart technology and digital transformation. We examined three comprehensive national plans for promoting smart cities and conducted focus group interviews with experts in smart cities to analyze the obstacles to carrying smart cities. We classified the thirteen impediments into technological, industrial, governmental, and social factors as a result. Some of them are generic issues in policy establishment and enforcement, while others are specific to smart cities.

  • Cognitive presence, a sense of "being there" cognitively, has recently been considered as an important indicator for students' engagement in e-learning. There is, however, no widely accepted scale to measure the level of cognitive presence since most studies have put their effort to set and clarify the conceptual framework with qualitative methodology. This study reviewed existing theories on cognitive presence and related fields extensively and developed a new self-report scale for measuring the conceived level of cognitive presence. The reliability and validity of the scale was tested against 723 undergraduate students in two consecutive studies, 418 in the preliminary and 305 in the follow-up study. Three major constructs to measure the perceived level of cognitive presence were: 1) clear understanding, 2) knowledge construction, and 3) learning management. This paper reports the final results of the two independent studies.

  • Copyright law has functioned to certify the authorship and artistic identity of an artist as well as to remunerate the artist's labor in monetary terms. However, the legal stability of copyright law may be questioned and even challenged because it shares the ground with unfixed notions of the concept of art. This study is an attempt to find theoretical argument where such instability of copyright law stems from, by looking into the theories of Aesthetics and history of arts. The first argument builds up on the ambiguity of discriminating between the Aesthetic concept of expression and idea. The second argument illuminates how new conventions of creating art work and emerging ideals of making art prevents to accommodate copyright law in the fields of art. New art forms such as conceptual art and place specific art are such examples. Increasing role of public arts projects also questions the conventional adoptions of copyright law. Arts management is closely related with this phenomena since their job is to administer the complex situation of introducing artists to the knowledge of copyright law.

  • There have been studies about conceptual ecology making a profound study of conceptual changes in learners' cognitive structure. Because learners' cognitive structure have been compared to ecology, it is natural to think that conception in learner's cognitive structure have a niche as species in ecology have niches. Therefore, it is necessary to study niche approach about conception that learners recognize in their cognitive structure. The purposes of this study were to identify relationships among conceptions that 5th grade elementary school students recognize about photosynthesis and to identify how these relationships among conceptions about photosynthesis change before and after a class of photosynthesis in curriculum in terms of an approach of ecological niche which are composed of 3 domains - diversity of conceptions, relevance and frequency rate of conceptions, and competition among conceptions. Open ended questionnaire was developed by 4 fields: photosynthetic place, photosynthetic products, photosynthetic materials needed and environment factors of photosynthesis. The subjects sampled in this study were 310 5th grade elementary students in 5 cites. Before and after classes in photosynthesis in science curriculum, students were asked to write down conceptions that they knew about the 4 fields of photosynthesis of questionnaire and to write down scales of relevance from 1 to 30 about how they think the conceptions are related to the field of photosynthesis. The results of this study showed the following: First, most students have had a variety of conceptions and commonly recognized 'light' and 'water' as concepts in photosynthesis. Second, students still recognized their preconceptions like 'soil' and 'root,' etc. that were far from scientific conceptions of photosynthesis although they took classes in photosynthesis. Third, students needed to take the various strategies of teachers because they did not recognized scientific conceptions appropriately about photosynthetic fields. Fourth, it appeared that photosynthetic conceptions recognized by students had status in terms of relevance and frequency rate of conceptions, and competition among conceptions, and that they looked like the niche of conceptions in their conceptual ecologies.
