  • Purpose - Acknowledging the limitations of the widely-used concept of destination image, this study proposes the concept of tourism image using trade in tourism service on the basis of Leiper's (1990) tourism system. This new concept incorporates an image formed from South Koreans focusing on the tourist holistic experience relevant to the United States based on the tourist rather than the tourism destination. Design/methodology - A convergent parallel mixed-methods study design constituted the concept, which emerges from the analysis of narratives and quantitative examinations of South Koreans focusing on tourism experience to the United States. Findings - The study considers the following aspects in addition to destination image: first, images formed outside the destination, e.g., in the tourist generating region and the transit region; second, non-hedonic images, which are a part of the tourist experience despite not directly involving a visit to the tourist attractions; and third, non-service-driven elements, such as co-created destination images formed from interaction with residents and fellow tourists. Originality/value - The tourism image concept allows consideration of aspects that have been overlooked in destination image studies yet may affect the image of the tourism experience.

  • This study was designed and undertaken to find out the influence of aerobic dancing on women's body image and self-concept, and to determine that body image is directly related to their self-concept. The data were collected from August 1st to September 30th, 1993. The subjects in this study were 150 women registered at aerobic center in Taejon city over for 4weeks(aerobic dancing group) and 132 women who visited at 3 beauty shop located in Taejon city and did not participate in any sports program over for 4 weeks (genernal group). Data were analysed for mean, $X^2-test$, T-test, ANOVA and Pearson-correlation coefficients using the SPSS program. The results of this study were as follows ; 1. Hypothesis I : 'There will be a difference in body image between aerobic dancing group and general group', was rejected (t=1.46, p>0.05) 2. Hypothesis II : 'There will be a difference in self-concept between aerobic dancing group and general group', was supported (t=2.38, p<0.05) . 3. Hypothesis III : 'The more positive body image will be, the higher self-concept will be', was supported(r=0.3393, p<0.01). 4. In the relationships between the body image and the general characteristics of the subjects, occupation(aerobic dancing group and total group), religion(general group), and marriage status(total group) were statistically significant results. 5. In the ralationships between the self-concept and the general characteristics of the subjects, the relationship between evaluational self-concept and occupation was statistically significant result in the total group, between the cognitive self-concept and occupation was in the general group and total group, and between evaluational self-concept and education was in the aerobic dancing group.

  • Self is well·expressed by clothing, so self-image can be an effective variable for conducting clothing·behavior studies. But there ate some problems in clothing and self-image researches. This paper will be a clue to discuss these problems. The contents of this study are as follows. (1) The notion of self-image is compared with self-concept, and according to this work, self concept comprehends the evaluative properties in addition to self-image illustration. In tai.; part, the problem in translating the terminologies, 'self-concept' and 'self-image', are also discussed. (2) The aspects of self-image are explored, thus physical and social-psychological aspects are determined. (3) Two sub-dimensions of self-image ate recommended relating to clothing researches: actual versus ideal and intrinsic versus phenomenal. (4) Some comments for future studies ate added. It is needed to investigate the relationships of other social- psychological variables and self-image in clothing department.

  • There are two significant drawbacks in triple image indexing; one is that is cannot support concept-based image retrieval and the other is that it fails to allow disjunctive labeling of images. To remedy the drawbacks, we propose a new technique supporting a concept-based retrieval against images indexed by indefinite fuzzy triples (I-fuzzy triples). The I-fuzzy triples allow not only a disjunctive image labeling, but also a concept-based matching against images labeled disjunctively. The disjunctive labeling is based on the expended closed world assumption and the concept-based image retrieval is based on fuzzy matching. In this paper, we also propose a concept-based query evaluation against the image database to extract desired answers with the degree of certainty $\alpha$$\in$[1,0].

  • Concept images play an important role in the acquisition of mathematical concept. However, sometimes concept images are derivatives of student's misconceptions. In addition, students always learn concept images despite teachers' efforts to teach concept definitions. Therefore, teachers need to know about all the concept images of a particular concept. This study aimed to analyze the concept image that students have about the triangle when they have already learned about the triangle in school. It was found that some students have different concept images about the triangle between Semo. Moreover, many students have misconceptions about vertices, sides, and angles. In particular, students think Gak denotes a side, although it means angle. Based on these results, I suggest that the curriculum and textbook require improvement.

  • The "genderless fashion" style adopted by 20 to 30-year-olds in Korea cannot be ignored in the consumer fashion code. This study investigated self-images of Korean genderless fashion consumers through in-depth interviews. Interview analyses confirmed that Korean genderless fashion consumers express their self-image through clothing. As the theoretical framework, this study used Lacan's concept of desire to classify the types of self-image consumers want to express. The results are classified into three subject types: those who pursue self-fulfillment, those who pursue fulfillment from others, and those who pursue endless fulfillment through a self-image. This reflects various factors and the subjects' desires. Further, a subject's desire to present a specific self-image was an important factor in understanding the genderless fashion style. The study results revealed that modern fashion is an "unconscious" field of self-expression that crucially reflects individual desires. The study also contributes to the understanding of the concept of self-image at large.

  • In recent years, main focus of research on image retrieval techniques is on content-based image retrieval. Text-based image retrieval schemes, on the other hand, provide semantic support and efficient retrieval of matching images. In this paper, based on Formal Concept Analysis (FCA), we propose a new image indexing and retrieval technique. The proposed scheme uses keywords and textual annotations and provides semantic support with fast retrieval of images. Retrieval efficiency in this scheme is independent of the number of images in the database and depends only on the number of attributes. This scheme provides dynamic support for addition of new images in the database and can be adopted to find images with any number of matching attributes.

  • A fraction is one of the most important concepts that students have to learn in elementary school. But it is a challenge for students to understand fraction concept because of its conceptual complexity. The focus of fraction learning is understanding the concept. Then the problem is how we can facilitate the conceptual understanding and estimate it. In this study, Moore's concept understanding scheme(concept definition, concept image, concept usage) was adopted as an theoretical framework to investigate students' fraction understanding. The questions of this study were a) what concept image do students have\ulcorner b) How well do students solve fraction problems\ulcorner c) How do students use fraction concept to generate fraction word problem\ulcorner By analyzing the data gathered from three elementary school, several conclusion was drawn. 1) The students' concept image of fraction is restricted to part-whole sub-construct. So is students' fraction understanding. 2) Students can solve part-whole fraction problems well but others less. This also imply that students' fraction understanding is partial. 3) Half of the subject(N=98) cannot pose problems that involve fraction and fraction operation. And some succeeded applied the concept mistakenly. To understand fraction, various fraction subconstructs have to be integrated as whole one. To facilitate this integration, fraction program should focus on unit, partitioning and quantity. This may be achieved by following activities: * Building on informal knowledge of fraction * Focusing on meaning other than symbol * Various partitioning activities * Facing various representation * Emphasizing quantitative aspects of fraction * Understanding the meanings of fraction operation Through these activities, teacher must help students construct various faction concept image and apply it to meaningful situation. Especially, to help students to construct various concept image and to use fraction meaningfully to pose problems, much time should be spent to problem posing using fraction.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify the mediating effect of professional self-concept on the relationship between nurse's image and career identity, and between satisfaction with the nursing major and the career identity of nursing students. Methods: This study utilized a descriptive methodology, and 205 nursing students attending three universities in Busan Metropolitan City participated in it. Data were collected from self-reported questionnaires between March 26 and April 30, 2022. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, an independent t-test, analysis of variance, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and simple and multiple regression using the IBM SPSS 22.0 program and Sobel test. Results: The mean score of career identity was 2.92±0.57 out of a possible 4. Career identity showed a significantly positive correlation with nurse's image (r=.32, p<.001), satisfaction with major (r=.47, p<.001), and professional self-concept (r=.32, p<.001). Additionally, professional self-concept had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between nurse's image (Z=2.44, p<.001), satisfaction with major (Z=2.35, p<.001), and career identity. Conclusion: The results of the study show professional self-concept had a mediating effect on the relationship between nurse's image, satisfaction with the nursing major, and career identity. Based on the study's results, career identity education programs for nursing students need to include nursing image, satisfaction with major, and professional self-concept.
