Volatile Flavor Components of Commelina communis L. as Influenced by Drying Methods (닭의장풀의 건조방법에 따른 휘발성 향기성분)

  • An attempt was made to determine the effects of drying methods including shady air drying, presteamed and shady air drying, microwave drying, and freeze drying on the volatile flavor components with Commelina communis L.. Essential oils from the samples were isolated by simultaneous steam distillation-extraction(SDE) method using diethyl ether as solvent. Concentrated samples were analyzed by gas chromatography(GC) and combined gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS). Respective 29, 47, 36, and 24 volatile flavor components were identified in shady air dried samples, presteamed and shady air dried samples, microwave dried samples, and freeze dried samples. The kinds and amounts of volatile flavor components were evidently depended upon the drying methods. 6,10,14-trimethylpentadecanone was regarded as the most abundant component in shady air dried samples, 6,10,14-trimethyl-2-pentadecanone in presteamed and shady air dried samples, neophytadiene in microwave dried samples, and ethyl acetate in freeze dried samples.

  • The roots of Brassica rapa ssp. were extracted with 95% aqueous ethanol and the concentrated extracts were partitioned using ethyl acetate (EtOAc), n-butyl alcohol and $H_2O$, successively. From the EtOAc fraction, five flavonoids were isolated through repeated silica gel and octadecyl silica gel (ODS) column chromatography (c.c.). Based on NMR, mass spectrometry (MS) and IR spectroscopic data, the chemical structures of the compounds were determined to be licochalcone A (1), 4,4'-dihydroxy-3'-methoxychalcone (2), liquirtigenin (3), liquiritin (4), and isoliquiritin (5). This is the first report of these compounds isolated from the root of this plant.

  • Chrysanthemum morifolium flowers were extracted with 80 % aqueous MeOH, and the concentrated extract was partitioned into EtOAc, n-butyl alcohol (n-BuOH), and water fractions. The repeated silica gel and octadecyl silica gel column chromatographies for the EtOAc and n-BuOH fractions led to isolation of four flavonoids. The chemical structures of the compounds were determined as acacetin (1), apigenin (2), apigenin-7-O-${\beta}$-$\small{D}$-glucopyanoside (3), acacetin-7-O-${\beta}$-$\small{D}$-glucopyranoside (4) based on spectroscopic data analyses including nuclear magnetic resonance, mass spectrometry, and infrared spectrometry.

  • Crab-like flavoring base (CFB) was made from a concentrated snow crab cooker effluent (SCCE) containing five food additives (proline, glycine, arginine, methionine, fructose) using reaction flavor technology (RFT). The volatile flavor compounds in CFB were compared between raw (SCCE) and control (without food additives) samples using solid phase microextraction (SPME) and gas chromatography with mass selective detector. A total of 74 compounds were detected in all samples (30 raw samples, 34 control samples, 55 CFB samples). A total of 22 nitrogen-containing compounds, including 19 pyrazines and 3 pyridines, were formed through RFT and increased 27 times compared to the control. Dimethyl trisulfide and dimethyl disulfide were predominant sulfur-containing compounds that increased through RFT, while aromatic compounds decreased through RFT. Seven compounds, tetramethylpyrazine, 2-ethyl-3,5,6-trimethylpyrazine, 2,3,5-trimethyl-6-(3-methylbutyl)pyrazine, 2-ethyl-3,5-dimethylpyrazine, 2,5-dimethyl-3-(3-methylbutyl)pyrazine, 2-ethyl-3,6-dimethylpyrazine, and 2-decanone potentially have a role in CFB odor by Pearson's correlation analysis.

  • The world has been rapidly restructured in an agenda of national security from center of military strength to that of economic strength since the post cold-war era China military leadership-division carried out RMA through learning of a lesson from Gulf war in 1990 -1991 and Iraq war in 2003, thus the leadership-division made an attempt to convert the military system to a technical intensive system. The principle based on RMA of China military is (National defense strategy) drafted by the central military committee 1985 and (Four modernization general principles) 1978. China has introduced Russian high-technological arms and equipment in order to build up the military arms greatly thanks to an economical development, and they take pragmatism line as chinese socialism with their strategy to make secure a position as military powers such as they successfully launched a manned spacecraft and are building an air-craft carrie and soon. USA has a theory of dichotomy whether a country is a cooperator for USA, or not. and also enemy or friend since 9.11terror, thus USA is different from their direction of police. This is because USA stands a position as the superpower of the supremacy hegemony of the world. We must be carefully aware that USA considers as important area for Middle east, West south Asia, Central Asia and Northwest Asia to meet the demands of 2lcentury. Accordingly, the focus of USA's military strategy will be probably concentrated at the above mentioned four areas. On the other hand, USA enjoys such a superpower position due to collapse of USSR which was the past main enemy since the post cold war era. We could give an conclusive example as fact that USA has recurred to unilateralism But USA carry on the military operations to the terror groups at global around by converting thje military strike strategy to pre-emptive strike strategy since9.11 terror, 2001. USA seeks for transformation to the mobile military forces with light-quantity oriented in order to carry on such the military operations and makes progress GPR, And the USA forces in Korea makes progress a military renovation as part of such a military strategy. On the other hand, USA promotes the measures of choose for the countries standing at the crossroads of strategy and carries forward a main scheme of provision for four priority aims that the leaders of a hostile country and mis-country shall be prohibited from use and obtainment of weapons of mass destruction. Accordingly, this treatise found out a significant meaning to have an effect on the national security in the korean peninsula.

  • This report Introduces a total heat exchanger in a solar air-conditioning system using Lithium Chloride(LiCl) solution. The hot and humid outside air is cooled and dehumidified by LiCl solution that is sprayed on the packed layer of the total heat exchanger. LiCl solution once diluted is concentrated again in a regenerator using solar energy. Three types as the packed materials were used in this experiment and the dehumidification performance was evaluated by the value of $k_xa(kg/h{\cdot}m^3{\cdot}{\Delta}x)$, overall mass transfer coefficient based on a humidity ratio potential difference, the influence of inlet LiCl solution flow rate, air flow rate, packed layer height on $k_xa$ was investigated. It was found that air flow rate, LiCl solution flow rate, packed layer height for all types had a great influnce on the value of $k_xa$.

Volatile Components of Flower and Seed of Safflower (홍화꽃 및 홍화씨의 휘발성성분)

  • Volatile components in flower and seed of safflower were identified. Volatile flavor compounds of safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) was extracted by simultaneous steam distillation and extraction method using Likens and Nickerson's extraction apparatus. Concentrated extract was analyzed and identified by gas chromatography and GC-mass spectrometry. Main volatile components in flower were terpene compounds, including p-cymene, limonene, ${\alpha}-phellandrene$, ${\gamma}-terpinene$, camphor, 4-terpineol, selinene, ${\beta}-caryophyllene$, torreyol, ${\beta}-eudesmol$, and 10 acids including 3-methylbutanoic acid, 2-methylbutanoic acid, and acids of $C_{2},\;C_{5}-C_{11}$. Main volatile components in seed and safflower were 20 aldehydes including hexanal (7.17%), (E)-2-heptenal (1.10%), (E,Z)-2,4-decadienal and (E,E)-2,4-decadienal.

  • In recent years, the changes in information technology have been so dramatic and the rate of changes has increased so much that information science research rigorously evolves with the passage of time and proliferates in diverging research directions dynamically. The aims of this study are to provide a global overview of research trends in information science and to trace its changes in the main topics over time. The study examined the topics of research articles published in JASIST between 1985 and 2009 and identified its changes during five 5 year periods. The study found that the most productive area has consistently been 'Information Retrieval', followed by 'Informetrics', 'Information Use and Users', 'Network and Technology', and 'Publishing and Services'. Information retrieval is a predominant core area in Information Science covering computer-based handling of multimedia information, employment of new semantic methods from other disciplines, and mass information handling on virtual environments. Currently Informetric studies shift from finding existing phenomena to seeking valuable descriptive results and researchers of information use have concentrated especially on information-seeking aspects, so adding greater sophistication to the relatively simple approach taken in information retrieval.

From the results of spectroscopic data including NMR and MS, the chemical structures of the compounds were determined as caulilexin C (1), indoleacetonitrile (2) and arvelexin (3). The arvelexin (3) has been isolated from this plant for the first time. Compounds 1, 2 and 3 showed inhibitory activity on human Acyl CoA: cholesterol. transferase 1 (hACAT1) by $54.6{\pm}6.0%$, $69.2{\pm}4.7%$ and $68.6{\pm}3.7%$, and on human Acyl CoA: cholesterol transferase 2(hACAT2) by $4.8{\pm}13.4%$, $45.6{\pm}4.8%$ and $39.5{\pm}4.3%$, respectively, at 100 ${\mu}g/ml$.

  • It is known as that onion is antioxidation effect, antibiotic effect, blood pressure decreasing effect and reducing serum cholesterol levels. This research about effect that onion concentrate gets blood cholesterol levels and body composition. Subject was 17 adult men of hyperlipidemia. Age distribution of investigation subjects were average 49.4 years old by 40~56 years old, and average height and weight were 167.6cm and 75.5kg each, BMI was 26.9kg/$m^2$, and BMR was 1,460.6$\pm$87.5㎉, and AMC was 25.0$\pm$1.05cm, and BCM was 41.0$\pm$2.79cm. In the meantime, the body muscle was 53.7$\pm$3.7kg, and fat mass was 18.7$\pm$3.8kg, and intracellular fluid was 26.6$\pm$1.8kg, and extracellular fluid was 12.8$\pm$0.9kg. The % body fat was 24.6$\pm$3.8%, and fat distribution was 0.9$\pm$0.0%, and the obesity degree was 125.4$\pm$8.2%. Vegetables, seaweeds, fruits and juices increased by change of dietary life and greasy foods, instants, breads, rices etc. decreased or there was no change, fast foods and eggs were no change. Also, subject previewed that guidance about stress, smoking, drinking and beverage intake need. If compared the nutrient intake amount with before onion concentrate allowance, it was similar level almost without significant. Energy, calcium and riboflavin are lower than the RDA for koreans. After 3 months, the levels of plasma total cholesterol, triglycerides had decreased significantly : 15.0%, 31.2% respectively. And the HDL-cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol levels also showed a marked reduction of 6.8%, 8.7% respectively. Plasma lipid level change by onion concentrate supplement would can know that case of triglyceride more greatly than plasma cholesterol. The pH and Na+ level of plasma were low significant since 8 weeks after, and $K^{+}$ level increase significant. While $Ca^{++}$ level was low significant after 1 month, there was no change since 2 months after, but nC $a^{++}$ level was low significantly. Plasma $Mg^{++}$ level was no change and nM $g^{++}$ level was low significant after intake.e.e.e.e.e.
