Recently, vital devices of the railway signaling systems have been computerized in order to ensure safe train operation. Due to this computerization, we have gradually come to need networking interfaces between these devices. Thus it is important that there be reliable communication links in the signaling systems. Network technologies are applied in the real-time industrial control system, and there are numerous studies to be carried out on the computer network technology for vital control systems such as railway signaling systems. For deploying the studies, we consider costs, reliability, safety assurance technique, compatibility, and etc. In this paper, we propose the Ethernet for railway signaling systems and also precisely describe the computer network characteristics of vital railway signaling systems. Then we demonstrate the experimental results of the proposed network algorithm, which is based on switched Ethernet technology with redundancy scheme.

This paper describes research about the realization of computerized radial pulse diagnosis system in order to remove the subjectivity of a diagnostician, when diagnostician diagnoses a sickness using tactile percept ion in korean traditional medicine. Using radial pulse wave detection system, we effectively measured pressure radial pulse rave and after analyzing it, we detected the characteristic parameters and also quantified it and then we objectified more or less the judgement standard of radial pulse diagnosis by the aids of a clinical expert. on this base, we confirmed the possibility for realizing of automatic radial pulse diagnosis by radial pulse diagnosis system.

In this paper, as a new measurement method to estimate the change of material condition, the simplified ultrasonic CT system, which uses the information of three directions, that is, $90^{\circ}$, $+45^{\circ}C$and $-45^{\circ}C$ about inspection plane is proposed. Use of simplified CT system has two merits: Firstly, the measurement time is very short compared with general CT. Secondly, it can detect sensitively small defect in vertical or slant direction about inspection plane because the obtained image is CT image calculated from three directions. From these merits, this method can be considered as an effective method to evaluate material conditions. The basic performance of the proposed method was confirmed through several specimens with several simple defects. In order to confirm the applicability of actual NDT, several kinds of welded specimens are investigated. The result showed that the CT image obtained had good agreement with actual defect of specimens.

The study was aimed to develop men's working pants patterns through the computerized 3-D virtual clothing simulation system and to verify the effects of the 3-D simulated outfit by comparing it to the images of the actual outfits. The average body measurements of South Korean men aged between 30 and 39 used for the simulation in order to generate a 3-D virtual model and to realize outfits of men's working pants for the workers in the heavy industry in South Korea. And also the preliminary questionnaire survey results on certain aspects of the working pants such as type, detailed design preference and discomforting parts were taken into consideration. Both the simulated and real images of the developed working pants were compared in terms of the ease amount according to parts of the working pants, the position of seam lines, the appearance of darts and pleats, and the effects of the fabric surface according to expertise panels' subjective 5-point scale evaluation. The results throughout the study were (1) the basic working pants item worn by subject workers were the straight one pleated pants. The most discomforting parts of the working pants were in the order of body rise, thigh, hip, waist, pants hems and knee girth. (2) the drafting factors of pants patterns differed by the men's body features, which was related to the allocation of suppression amounts between waist and hip girths into darts and hip curve amounts on the waist line level of the pants. (3) the similarity of the virtually simulated and real images of men's working pants resulted in an average of 4.5 to the ease of appearance, 4.6 to the seam lines, 4.1 to the fabric surface effects in a 5-point scale, which means that the two were highly alike.

After development of order communication system for out-patients using PC and LAN in May 1992, this system had been tested for 2 months. The system also use Host computer(IBM 9221-170) as a data bank and communicats wi th emulation card(3270 emulator. Interlink Inc., Korea). Since September 1992, this system(named YOUSEI-PC) has been running successfully in the Yonsei Cardiovascular Center of the Severance Hospital, Yonsei University College of Medicine. After introducing this system, it enables patients to receive drugs wi thin 30 minutes after prescription and revealed effective system not to reduce waiting time for the patients but also to remove charge-troubling(due to mis-entry of prescription). This system also seems to be effective in terms of office automatism for hospital management. However users, usually physitions, required more friendly and easy system to operate and we thought that the most important one to successfully introduce order communication computer system in the hospital is user interface.

With the introduction of KTX, in my view it is necessary to secure the reliability of high-speed trains, make them stabilized at the earliest moment possible, and completely digest them as our own system for the purpose of being second to none in the area of railroad business. I am going to study in this thesis through analysis of train failures by help of MKBSF calculation, breaking from the convention in maintaining the high-speed trains, in order to establish and apply the computerized system called as RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance), foster manpower in charge of the reliability maintenance, and realize the scientific and efficient maintenance covering the whole field of maintenance. Depending on how efficiently and scientifically we can perform the maintenance activities, we will be able to not only reduce the maintenance cost but also ensure the railroad security, and as a natural consequence improve the railroad image much better.

RCM developed by American air industry in early 1960, its process is most realistic for some physical assets and it permits the system to maintain given function status through decision of demand about optimum maintenance. Therefore, many industries have selected RCM technique and have carried out RCM in order to solve many problems concerning maintenance management. Through the execution of RCM, we can solve actual problems And finally we will be able to develop more and more maintenance activities with RCM notion. In this study, we will consider the application of KTX-RCM which is set up with basic theory of RCM and constructed to improve trainset safety, availability and regularity of KTX, linking with CMMS(Computerized Maintenance Management System).

The objectives of this research are to establish the operation scheduling and the preventive maintenance system in order to optimize the operation of mailing center. For the optimal operation scheduling of mailing process, the existing workflow of mailing process and that of required time are investigated prior to simulation modeling. The simulation experiments are conducted to increase the nextday delivery rate. The best alternative whose nextday delivery rate up to 100% is selected based the AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) method. The optimal work scheduling of all mailing centers are also presented. In addition, the CMMS(Computerized Maintenance Management System) for preventive maintenance is introduced for efficient operation of highly automated facilities of mailing center.
