The improvement of resistance performance for the 4.99 ton class fishing boats was shown. The 4.99 ton fishing boats are the most commonly used one in the Korean coastal region. The evaluation of resistance performance was estimated by the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis. The CFD simulation was performed by the validation for various types of bow shapes on the hull. The optimized hull form from the simulation was selected and showed the best resistance performance. This hull type was tested on the towing tank in the National Institute of Fisheries Science (NIFS). The effective horsepower (EHP) was estimated by the resistance test on the towing tank with the bare hull condition. The drag force on the three service speed conditions was obtained for the resistance analysis to power prediction. The measured drag forces are compared with the results from the CFD simulation with one another. As results of the model tests, it was confirmed that the shape of the bow is an important factor in the resistance performance. The effective horsepower decreased about 30% in comparison with the conventional hull form. Also, the resistance performance improved the reduction of required horsepower, which especially contributed to the energy-saving for the fisheries industry. In the CFD analysis, the resistance performance improved slightly. In this case, the ratio of the residual resistance ($C_R$) in the total resistance ($C_T$) was high. Therefore, the CFD analysis was not enough to satisfy with reflection for the free surface and wave form in the CFD procedure. Both model test and CFD calculation in this study can be applied to the initial design process for the coastal fishing vessel.
The numerical analyses for three different shafts in geometry of high buildings were carried out by using computational fluid dynamics model (FDS ver.5.3) for the calculation of the pressure difference and the location of the neutral plane and the visualization of stack effect. At 10 seconds of stack effect, the pressure difference of stack effect in the elevator shaft (79.3 Pa) almost corresponded to the theoretical value (78 Pa). At 300 seconds of stack effect, all the neutral planes of three cases were located about 49 m above floor, where was 5 m higher than the theoretical value. The maximum pressure difference between upper and lower position of shaft decreased with increasing of the geometrical complexity of shaft. This study showed that there was the difference of the stack effects among the geometries of shafts with the visualization of stack effect.

In this work, Altair Engineering's vibroacoustic modeling approach is used to simulate the acoustic signature of a simplified automobile in a wind tunnel. The modeling approach relies on a two step procedure involving simulation and extraction of acoustic sources using a high fidelity Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation followed by propagation of the acoustic energy within the structure and passenger compartment using a structural dynamics solver. The tools necessary to complete this process are contained within Altair's HyperWorks CAE software suite. The CFD simulations are performed using AcuSolve and the structural simulations are performed using OptiStruct. This vibroacoustics simulation methodology relies on calculation of the acoustic sources from the flow solution computed by AcuSolve. The sources are based on Lighthill's analogy and are sampled directly on the acoustic mesh. Once the acoustic sources have been computed, they are transformed into the frequency domain using a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) with advanced sampling and are subsequently used in the structural acoustics model. Although this approach does require the CFD solver to have knowledge of the acoustic simulation domain a priori, it avoids modeling errors introduced by evaluation of the acoustic source terms using dissimilar meshes and numerical methods. The aforementioned modeling approach is demonstrated on the Hyundai Simplified Model (HSM) geometry in this work. This geometry contains flow features that are representative of the dominant noise sources in a typical automobile design; namely vortex shedding from the passenger compartment A-pillar and bluff body shedding from the side view mirrors. The geometry also contains a thick poroelastic material on the interior that acts to reduce the acoustic noise. This material is modeled using a Biot material formulation during the structural acoustic simulation. Successful prediction of the acoustic noise within the HSM geometry serves to validate the vibroacoustic modeling approach for automotive applications.
The cationic polymerization of oxolane high explosives which have pendant explosive groups such as azido, nitrato and hydrazino is investigated theoretically using the semiempirical MINDO/3, MNDO and AM1 methods. The nucleophilicity and basicity of oxolane high explosives can be explained by the negative charge on oxygen atom of oxolane. The reactivity of propagation in the polymerization of oxolane can be represented by the positive charge on carbon atom and the low LUMO energy of active species of oxolane. The reaction of the oxolane high explosives in oxonium ion form to the open chain carbenium ion form is expected by computational stability energy (17.950~30.197 kcal/mol) of the oxonium ion and carbenium ion favoring the carbenium ion. The relative equilibrium concentration of cyclic oxonium ion and carbenium ion is found to be a major determinant of mechanism, owing to the rapid equilibrium of these catoinic forms. Based on calculation, in the prepolymer propagation step, $S_N1$ mechanism will be at least as fast as that for $S_N2$ mechanism.
This paper presents a superresolution restoration technique that can restore high-resolution images from differently blurred low resolution images rather than using the motion information between low-resolution images. In order to restore the super-resolution image the rotatable aperture mask lens system is proposed. The proposed technique does not need to estimate point spread function at each frame. In addition, it does not require image registration because there is no global translational motion between low resolution images. By using a rotatable rectangular aperture, two consecutive captured images provide sufficiently exclusive information for superresolution. Therefore, the proposed method can reduce the registration error between the low-resolution image as well as the calculation amount for superresolution restoration. The existing lens system of the camera can be extended to obtain a superresolution image by only adding an rotatable rectangular aperture mask. Finally, in order to verify the performance of the proposed system, experimental results are performed. By comparing with the existing superresolution methods, the proposed method showed the significant improvements in the sense of spatial resolution.

In this paper, we propose the method and system which determines the condition for safe and unsafe lane changing. To determine the condition, first, the system sets up the Region of Interest(ROI) on the neighboring lane. Second, a dangerous vehicle is extracted during the line changing. Third, the condition is determined to wm or not by calculating the moving direction, relative distance md relative velocity. To set up the ROI, the only one side lane is detected and the interested region is expanded. Using the coordinate transformation method, the accuracy of the ROI raised. To correctly extract the vehicle on the neighboring lane, the Adaptive Background Update method and Image Segmentation method which uses the feature of the travelling road are used. The object which is extracted by the dangerous vehicle is calculated the relative distance, the relative velocity and the moving average. And then in order to ring, the direction of the vehicle and the condition for safe and unsafe is determined. As minimizes the interested region and uses the feature of the travelling road, the computational quantity is reduced and the accuracy is raised and a stable result on a travelling road images which demands a high speed calculation is showed.

The object of this paper is to evaluate the fission product inventories and radiological doses in a non-LOCA event, based on the U.S. NRC's regulatory methodologies recommended by the TID-14844 and the RG 1.195. For choosing a non-LOCA event, one fuel assembly was assumed to be melted by a channel blockage accident. The Hanul nuclear power reactor unit 6 and the CE $16{\times}16$ fuel assembly were selected as the computational models. The burnup cross section library for depletion calculations was produced using the TRITON module in the SCALE6.1 computer code system. Based on the recently licensed values for fuel enrichment and burnup, the source term calculation was performed using the ORIGEN-ARP module. The fission product inventories released into the environment were obtained with the assumptions of the TID-14844 and the RG 1.195. With two kinds of source terms, the radiological doses of public in normal environment reflecting realistic circumstances were evaluated by applying the average condition of meteorology, inhalation rate, and shielding factor. The statistical analysis was first carried out using consecutive three year-meteorological data measured at the Hanul site. The annual-averaged atmospheric dispersion factors were evaluated at the shortest representative distance of 1,000 m, where the residents are actually able to live from the reactor core, according to the methodology recommended by the RG 1.111. The Korean characteristic-inhalation rate and shielding factor of a building were considered for a series of dose calculations.

This paper describes the concepts of Static Line Rating (SLR) and Dynamic Line Rating (DLR) and the computational methods to demonstrate them. Calculation of the line capacity needs the heat balance equation which is also used for computing the reduced tension in terms of line aging. SLR is calculated with the data from the worst condition of weather throughout the year. Even now, the utilization ratio is obtained from this SLR data in Korea. DLR is the improved method compared to SLR. A process for DLR reveals not only improved line ratings but also more accurate allowed line ratings based on line aging and real time conditions of weather. In order to reflect overhead transmission line aging in DLR, this paper proposes the method that considers the amount of decreased tension since the lines have been installed. Therefore, the continuous allowed temperature for remaining life time is newly acquired. In order to forecast DLR, this paper uses weather forecast models, and applies the concept of Thermal Overload Risk Probability (TORP). Then, the new concept of Dynamic Utilization Ratio (DUR) is defined, replacing Static Utilization Ratio (SUR). For the case study, the two main transmission lines which are responsible for the north bound power flow in the Seoul metropolitan area are chosen for computing line rating and utilization ratio. And then line rating and utilization ratio are analyzed for each transmission line, so that comparison of the present and estimated utilization ratios becomes available. Finally, this paper proves the validity of predictive DUR as the objective index, with simulations of emergency state caused by system outages, overload and so on.
For a nonlinear control system, there are many uncertainties, such as the structural model, controlled parameters and external loads. Although the significant progress has been achieved on the robust control of nonlinear systems through some researches on this issue, there are still some limitations, for instance, the complicated solving process, weak conservatism of system, involuted structures and high order of controllers. In this study, the computational structural mechanics and optimal control theory are adopted to address above problems. The induced norm is the eigenvalue problem in structural mechanics, i.e., the elastic stable Euler critical force or eigenfrequency of structural system. The segment mixed energy is introduced with a precise integration and an extended Wittrick-Williams (W-W) induced norm calculation method. This is then incorporated in the market-based control (MBC) theory and combined with the force analogy method (FAM) to solve the MBC robust strategy (R-MBC) of nonlinear systems. Finally, a single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) system and a 9-stories steel frame structure are analyzed. The results are compared with those calculated by the $H{\infty}$-robust (R-$H{\infty}$) algorithm, and show the induced norm leads to the infinite control output as soon as it reaches the critical value. The R-MBC strategy has a better control effect than the R-$H{\infty}$ algorithm and has the advantage of strong strain capacity and short online computation time. Thus, it can be applied to large complex structures.
This study systematically compared two hybrid deterministic/Monte Carlo transport codes, ADVANTG/MCNP and MAVRIC, in solving a difficult shielding problem for a real-world spent fuel storage cask. Both hybrid codes were developed based on the consistent adjoint driven importance sampling (CADIS) methodology but with different implementations. The dose rate distributions on the cask surface were of primary interest and their predicted results were compared with each other and with a straightforward MCNP calculation as a baseline case. Forward-Weighted CADIS was applied for optimization toward uniform statistical uncertainties for all tallies on the cask surface. Both ADVANTG/MCNP and MAVRIC achieved substantial improvements in overall computational efficiencies, especially for gamma-ray transport. Compared with the continuous-energy ADVANTG/MCNP calculations, the coarse-group MAVRIC calculations underestimated the neutron dose rates on the cask's side surface by an approximate factor of two and slightly overestimated the dose rates on the cask's top and side surfaces for fuel gamma and hardware gamma sources because of the impact of multigroup approximation. The fine-group MAVRIC calculations improved to a certain extent and the addition of continuous-energy treatment to the Monte Carlo code in the latest MAVRIC sequence greatly reduced these discrepancies. For the two continuous-energy calculations of ADVANTG/MCNP and MAVRIC, a remaining difference of approximately 30% between the neutron dose rates on the cask's side surface resulted from inconsistent use of thermal scattering treatment of hydrogen in concrete.
