The charge transfer compounds $(TTF)_4FeCl_3{\cdot}CH_3OH,\;(TTF)_4SbCl_4\;and\;(TTF)_5(SbBr_4)_2{\cdot}CH_3COCH_3$ were prepared from reactions of the TTF (tetrathiafulvalene) and metal halides. The compounds were characterized by spectroscopic (UV,IR, EPR and XPS) methods, magnetic susceptibility and electrical conductivity measurements. The d.c electrical conductivities of the pressed pellets are in the order of $10^{-1}-10^{-3} Scm^{-1}$, which lies in the range of semiconductor region at room temperature. It means that the partially ionized TTF has stacked in low-dimensional chain in each compound. Spectroscopic properties also indicate that TTF molecules are partially ionized and charge transfer has occurred from (TTF)n to Fe(III) center in $(TTF)_4FeCl_3{\cdot}CH_3OH$ whereas to the $-SbX_4^-$ entity in $(TTF)_4SbCl_4\;and\;(TTF)_5(SbBr_4)_2{\cdot}CH_3COCH_3$. The EPR g values are consistent with TTF radical formation and EPR linewidths suggest the delocalization of unpaired electrons along TTF stacks. A signal arised from metal (Fe and Sb) ions were not detected in EPR spectra, indicating that metal ion is in the diamagnetic state in each compound. The diamagnetic state was also examined by the magnetic susceptibility measurement. The magnetic properties reveal the significant interaction between the $TTF^+$ radical cations in the stacks. The oxidation state of metal ions was also investigated by XPS spectra.

In order to improve the electromagnetic shielding rate of Carbon Fiber (CF), it was produced using the nickel nano-powder impregnating method. Using two types of nickel powder having thicknesses of 50 ㎛ and 100 ㎛, and a thermoplastic elastomer resin, a compound containing 10-20% nickel content was mixed and then manufactured through an extruder. The CF coated with the compound was woven and manufactured using a 1-ply specimen. The final nickel content of the specimen was verified using TGA and the distribution of nickel powder on the CF surface was verified using SEM. The metal shows a high shielding rate in the low-frequency band, but the shielding rate decreases at higher-frequency bands. The CF improves at the higher frequency band, and metals reflect electromagnetic waves while carbon absorbs electromagnetic waves. The study of shielding materials, which are stronger and lighter than metal, by using CF lighter than metal and enabling the shielding rate from low-frequency band to high-frequency band, confirmed that the larger the area coated with nickel nano-powder, the better the electromagnetic shielding performance. In particular, CF coated with a thickness of 100 ㎛ has a shielding rate similar to that of copper and can also be used for EV/HEV automotive cables and other applications in the future.
It is investigated that Fe-C-N compound layer, defusion layer, and induction hardened layer produced by nitrocarburizing blend heat treatment in austenitic temperature with high frequency induction heating of mild steel specimen sprayed sursulf salt-bath. As the temperature of blend-heat treatment got increased, the thickness and hardness of compound layer and diffusion layer were increased. Compound layer(max. $35{\mu}m$), diffusion layer (max. 2.5mm) and induction hardened layer were gained in the shortest time 10 sec and in the case of $1000^{\circ}C$ total hardness depth of those was about 3.5mm. When the blend-heat treated specimen was reheated, maximum hardness of compound layer was dropped more than that of the reheated compound layer after sursulf treated, whereas hardness of diffusion layer was increased.
A porphyrin compound containing a crown ether moiety (Por-Crown) and its zinc complex (ZnPor-Crown) have been prepared and the effect of the addition of alkali metal on their fluorescence has been investigated. As alkali metal cations were added, the absorption and fluorescence maxima did not change. However, the absorbance and intensity of fluorescence increased dramatically. Among the alkali metal cations tested, addition of K$^{+}$ and Cs$^{+}$ showed strongest enhancement of absorbance and fluorescence intensity of Por-Crown and ZnPor-Crown.own.

In this study, in order to complete curing reaction of the molding compound comprising an epoxy/anhydride at $71^{\circ}C$ for 40 hours, metal coordination complexes such as cobalt (II) acetylacetonate, potassium acetylacetonate, iron (III) acetylacetonate and chromium (III) octoate as a catalyst were applied to the epoxy/anhydride compounds respectively. The weight ratio of an epoxy part/an anhydride part was adjusted to improve the mechanical properties of the molding compound. According to the experimental results, an epoxy/anhydride compound containing chromium (III) octoate showed a high conversion at $71^{\circ}C$ for 40 hours as well as a proper processability at room temperature among the several metal coordination complexes. For the mechanical properties of the cured epoxy/anhydride compound, the compounds containing weight ratio from 0.9/1 to 0.5/1 of the epoxy part/anhydride part with chromium (III) octoate showed the high flexural strength, and higher compressive strength was shown with increasing of the hardener part.
Seed germination rate and seedling growth were measured on 6 different species(Phytolacca americana, Eupatorium rugosum, Rumex acetocella, Echinochloa crusgalli, Cassia mimosoides var. nomame, Setaria viridis) treated with leaf extract of E. rugosum. Total phenolic compound and heavy metal were analyzed on leaf and soil with and without E. rugosum. The growth of P. americana seedlings were stimulated by 10% and 25% of E. rugosum water extract treatment. The content of total phenolic compounds in soil was lower than that of leaf extract, and 25% was confirmed as threshold concentration in natural systems because the total phenolic compounds were not significantly different between the control soils and the soil treated with 10%, and 25% extract. Total phenolic compound concentrations of the leaf extracts were highest (1.66 mg/l) with E. rugosum grown under the Quercus forest canopy and lowest (1.09 mg/l) for the plant grown in the mixed forest edge. Leaf extracts of plants selected in different sampling sites (Forest interior, Forest edge, under Pinus Canopy and Quercus Canopy) were significant, while soil extracts were not. Seed germination of R. acetocella and S. viridis were significantly inhibited at over 50% concentrations of E. rugosum, but C. mimosoides var. nomame was not affected at any concentration. The radicle and shoot growth of the native species group were reduced two times more than those of the exotic species group by the treatment of extracts. Especially, the seed germination percentage and dry weight of E. rugosum were greater than those of the control group by treatments with extracts of 10% and 25%. Analysis of aqueous extracts from E. rugosum by HPLC identified 6 phenolic compounds: caffeic acid (460.9 mg/l), benzoic acid (109.7 mg/l), protocatechuic acid (7.3 mg/l), ρ-hydroquinone (6.0 mg/l), cinnamic acid (2.7 mg/l) and hydroquinone (0.23 mg/l). The seed germination of P. americana was also inhibited dramatically by protocatechuic acid and cinnamic acid even though the content of caffeic acid (460.9 mg/l) was the highest among analyzed phenolic compounds. The heavy metal content of soil without A. altissima was higher than that of soil with E. rugosum. Particularly, Al, Fe and Mn was considerably high and most of the heavy metal were accumulated in leaves where a high level of total phenolic compounds was found.
The currently used wax agents for preserving outdoor metal structures, despite their advantages, have disadvantages such as low endurance and reliability. These wax agents are easily damaged by acid rain, dust, moisture in the air, yellow dust, and air pollutants, resulting in corrosion within a short period after the initial conservation treatment. In addition, aged wax can also exhibit changes in the color or gloss, and also give a sense of difference in the surface. Given these existing problems, it is necessary to develop improved materials for metal preservation. Therefore, this study analyzed the characteristics and applications of the existing wax coating agents in order to identify their disadvantages and to develop a better material for metal preservation. In this regard, this study developed a perilla oil based compound wax and conducted experiments to test its endurance. The new compound wax agent was exposed to outdoor and acid rain conditions: it showed four times and 1.5 times the endurance of the existing wax agents in outdoor and acid rain conditions, respectively. In addition, the new agent seems to be more durable and protective as evidenced by the chromaticity, polish maintenance, and contact angle results. Further, although it is 1.3-1.8 times thicker than the existing agents, the new agent shows a more even surface. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the new compound wax agent based on perilla oil is a better alternative to the existing was coating agents.

The LDS(Laser Direct Structuring) is one of the new direct writing methods to fabricate conductive patterns by energy beam. It uses thermoplastic polymers with an additive compound that serves as plating seed after the activation by laser. The advantages of LDS include the miniaturization of electrical components, design flexibility, and a reduced number of production steps. The purpose of this study is to investigate the fundamental mechanism for LDS and the characteristics of conductive patterns by laser parameters. These results were studied by SEM, EDX, and XPS analysis. We have used a 20W pulse-modulated fiber laser and copper electroless plating to fabricate conductive patterns on polymer. The result showed that electroless copper plating seed caused the laser cracking of additive compound. In particular, the additive compound contained in copper metal oxides atoms will be changed to copper metal elements. Also, the characteristics of conductive patterns were dependent on laser parameter, especially laser fluence.
Novel mononuclear metal complexes with the formula $[M(Ph_2PC_6H_4NC_3H_6NC_6H_4PPh_2)]$ (M=Pd (1); M=Pt (2)) were obtained when N,N'-bis[2'-(diphenylphosphino)phenyl]propane-1,3-diamine, I was mixed with cisdichlorobis(diethylsulfide)palladium and platinum in the presence of NEt3. Two mononuclear metal compounds with the fomula [M(Ph2PC6H4NH)(SEt2)Cl] (M=Pd (3); M=Pt (4)) were synthesized from $M(SEt_2)2Cl_2$ and N-(2'-diphenylphosphinophenyl)-4-amino-1,1,1,5,5, 5-hexafluoro-3-penten-2-one, II by the elimination reaction of hexafluoro pentenone. The X-ray single crystal structures of 1 and 4 are described. X-ray single crystal diffraction analyses reveal that compound 1 is a mononuclear palladium compound with P,N,N,P-coordination mode and 4 is a mononuclear platinum compound with P,N-coordination mode.
