  • Background: Knowledge of cancer incidences is essential for cancer prevention and control programs. Capture-recapture methods have been recommended for reducing bias and increasing the accuracy of cancer incidence estimations. This study aimed to estimate the completeness of gastric cancer registration by the capture-recapture method based on Ardabil population-based cancer registry data. Materials and Methods: All new cases of gastric cancer reported by three sources, pathology reports, death certificates and medical records that reported to Ardabil population-based cancer registry in 2006 and 2008 were enrolled in the study. The duplicate cases based on the similarity of first name, surname and fathers names were identified between sources. The estimated number of gastric cancers was calculated by the log-linear method using Stata 12 software. Results: A total of 857 new cases of gastric cancer were reported from three sources. After removing duplicates, the reported incidence rates for the years 2006 and 2008 were 35.3 and 32.5 per 100,000 population, respectively. The estimated completeness calculated by log-linear method for these years was 36.7 and 36.0, respectively. Conclusions: These results indicate that none of the sources of pathology reports, death certificates and medical records individually or collectively fully cover the incident cases of gastric cancer. We can obtain more accurate estimates of incidence rates using the capture-recapture method.

  • Demographic Analysis(DA) as well as Post Enumeration Survey(PES) are typical methods for evaluating completeness of census and vital statistics. In spite of its popularity, DA has never been attempted in Korea, while other international journals of demography have pointed out the backwardness of death registration in Korea in terms of DA approach. This paper introduces various DA methods and modifies them to be adequate for Korea census and vital statistics. Our method are also applied to reconstruct year-age-sex specific population and estimate their omission rates for year and age. Empirical analysis of census and vital statistics of Korea from 1985 to 2010 demonstrates high completeness of death registration in Korea, contrary to existing literatures. We also investigates abnormal patterns in census by comparing with reconstruction data in view of cohort, sex ratio and age ratio.

  • A DSMS(Data Stream Management System) in ubiquitous environment processes huge data that input from a number of sensor. The existed system is used with a load shedding method that is eliminated with a part of huge data stream when it doesn't process the huge data stream. The Load shedding method has to filter a part of input data. This is because, data completeness or reliability is decreased. In this paper, we proposed the overload prediction load balancing to maintain data completeness when the system has an overload. The proposed method predicts the overload time. and than it is decreased with data loss when achieves the prediction overload time. The performance evaluation shows that the proposed method performs better than the existed method.

  • Objectives: This study is conducted to identify the cancer incidence in Gwangju during the 5-year period from 1998 to 2002 and to assess the completeness and validity of the cancer registry data during this time period. Methods: All cases that had a diagnosis of invasive cancer (ICD-10 sites C00-C97) during the study period were retrieved from the records of the Gwangju Cancer Registry (GCR), which theoretically includes all the cancer cases in Gwangju. All the cases during the study period were analyzed by gender, age group and cancer sites. The completeness (mortality/incidence ratio and age-specific incidence curve) and validity (histologic verification, primary site unknown, age unknown and death certificate only) of the cancer registry in Gwangju were analyzed by gender, age group and cancer sites for the 5-year period. Results: The overall cancer incidence was higher in the males than in the females (age-standardized incidence rates (ASR) 299.8 and 172.4 per 100,000, respectively). In males, the most common cancer was stomach (ASR: 65.8), followed by liver (ASR: 50.5), bronchus and lung (ASR: 50.5), colo-rectum (ASR: 26.7), oesophagus (ASR: 10.6), and bladder (ASR: 10.3) in descending order. In females, the most common cancer was stomach (ASR: 26.8), followed by thyroid (ASR: 20.7), breast (ASR: 20.4), cervix uteri (ASR: 14.3), bronchus and lung (ASR: 13.0), liver (ASR: 10.7) and colo-rectum (ASR: 17.2) in descending order. The overall quality (completeness and validity) of the cancer registry was at the in 'good' level. Conclusions: These results will be useful in the overall context of planning and evaluating of cancer control activities in Gwangju.

  • Background : Medical records thought to be reflecting the quality of medicine. By this ground, examination of medical records can be served to evaluate, and to improve the quality of medical care. To examine the medical records, we need some standards or checklists which can be used to sort out the problems. Methods: We developed checklists for medical records evaluation. We studied 1,677 medical records about its completeness using this checklists in one educational hospital. Survey was completed by 5 well trained staffs of medical record department. Results are analyzed. SPSS/PC+ program was used for statistics. Results : 13.8% of discharge summary was incomplete. Recording of the demographic information was also poor in incomplete medical records compared to complete ones. Progress note was recorded average 4.16 times during 11.9 hospital days. After 4th hospital day, recording rate of progress note dropped sharply. Rate of professor's signature on operation records was poor(27%). He or she who described the discharge summary well also wrote progress note well. Conclusions: Fill-up of demographic date should be stressed during medical record education program. Strategy to create the environment emphasizing the responsibility of professor on quality medical record should be made. We suggest new index (number of records/hospital stay) for the evaluation of completeness of progress note.

  • With the rise of fintech services, the importance of UX Writing in digital channel is growing. However, there is a lack of research on how different types of UX Writing in fintech services specifically affect user's satisfaction. In order to determine the impact of UX Writing style in fintech services on user's satisfaction, this study used a 2x2 mixed design with using formality in Korean and financial jargon as independent variables to measure trust, conciseness, psychological stability, and completeness. The results showed that higher levels of conciseness, psychological stability, and completeness when not using jargon than using jargon. Using formality in Korean did not show a main effect for any of the dependent variables, but it was occurred that higher levels of conciseness, psychological stability, and completeness with using formality in Korean but not using jargon. The significance of this study is that it empirically verified how using formality and financial jargon in UX Writing of fintech services affects user satisfaction.

  • This paper is about the hardness of the Election problem in asynchronous distributed systems in which processes can crash but links are reliable. The hardness of the problem is defined with respect to the difficulty to solve it despite failures. It is shown that problems encountered in the system are classified as three classes of problems: F (fault-tolerant), NF (Not fault-tolerant) and NFC(NF-completeness). Among those, the class NFC is the hardest problems to solve. In this paper, we prove that the Election problem is the most difficult problem which belongs to the class NFC.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop an aesthetic and functional bicycle wear for new senior women in their 50s and 60s. We developed bicycle wear that is friendly to bicycling posture and reflects the preference of new senior women. Both the expert group and the subject group evaluated the appearance, completeness of clothing and motion functionality. The results are as followed: First, in the evaluation result of the expert group regarding the appearance and completeness of clothing, high scores are given to design, materials, color scheme, the trends suitability as well as the appearance with regard to clothing fitness. Second, in the results of the evaluation of the appearance and movement functionality targeting the subject groups, movement functionality was rated higher than appearance. In the case of the appearance evaluation, adhesion of both jacket and pants was rated very highly, which is considered to come from the elasticity of the material. In the functionality evaluation, what were pointed out as inconvenient details in the prior studies were found to be all improved and the sleeves and armpit parts were rated highly. Therefore, the pattern design and the usage of the materials suggested in this study were found to be very suitable in the movement on the ride of bicycle.
