  • The wasted plastic PC/ABS retainer, polyurethane foam (PUF) and vinyl (PVC) skin. In order to investigate the recycling process, the multi-layered instrument panel Each of materials separated was shredded and crushed to create many small particles respectively. The separation of the foam and skin and retainer of zigzagged air blower. Pilot tests performed at the equipment yielded 98.8% by weight of the available PVC and 99.3% by weight of the available PC/ABS respectively. Secondly, the thermal stabilizer and the compatabilizer have been used to improve the physical propertied of recycled materials.. The properties of recycled PVC materials resulted in about 50% compared to that of virgin materials after treatment by Pb-St thermal stabilizer. In addition, the properties of recycled PC/ABS materials was also obtained about 80% compared to that of virgn materials after treatment by PMMA compatabilizer.

  • Bisphenol A polycarbonate(PC) and polyethylene terephthalate(PET) was blended with methylmethacrylate-butadiene-styrene(MBS) copolymer for the improvement of impact resistance strength PC/PET alloy blending with PC more than 15 parts to 100 parts of PET usually have poor compatability, but increased the compatability characteristics of PC/PET alloy prepared by addition of MBS compatabilizer. The compatability of PC and PET using compatabilizer, MBS was determined by measuring the thermal characteristics of Tg difference between PC and PET, and crystallization temperature, Tcc. As the Tg difference becoming narrow to $60^{\circ}C$, and Tcc decreasing to $150^{\circ}C$, the comparability of PC and PET was increased. And also tough rate impact strength to PC/PET alloy using MBS was increased, in case more than 15 parts of PC being blended to PET.

  • Copolymer of Styrene and GMA(glycidyl methachylate), having reactive ratios of $r_1=0.53$, $r_2=0.44$, was synthesized in dioxane using AIBN as free radical initiator. Followed by the reaction of ethylene diamine with copolymer PGS, amine groups were introduced to the PGS(NPGS). The composition of copolymer was determined by elemental analyzer. Poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA) was obtained in benzene using AIBN as free radical initiator. The NPGS-PGMA blend of 50/50 composition was prepared by mixing these polymers in THF at $65^{\circ}C$. Glass transition temperature (Tg) of NPGS-PGMA blend was measured by DSC. The blend showed a single Tg. Accordingly, it was clear that the NPGS was compatible with PGMA. An intermolecular reaction between amine groups of NPGS and epoxy groups of PGMA imparts compatibility in the NPGS-PGMA blend. When the NPGS-PGMA blend was added to the incompatible PS-PGMA blend, PS-PGMA blend showed Tg change. Scanning Electron Micrograph(SEM) showed a fine morphology in this blend. Consequently, it was apparent that the NPGS-PGMA blend acted as a compatibilizer for the PS-PGMA blend.

  • Polypropylene (PP)/bamboo fiber (BF) composites were fabricated by twin screw extruder in order to investigate effects of the compatibilizer on physical properties of PP/BF composites. The content of BF changed from 10 to 25 wt% and that of the compatibilizer was fixed at 3 wt%. Maleic anhydride grafted PP (PP-g-MAH) was used to increase the compatibility between PP and BF as a compatibilizer. Chemical structures of the composites were confirmed by the existence of carbonyl group (C=O) stretching peak at $1,700cm^{-1}$ in FT-IR spectrum. Considering the degradation and mechanical properties, the optimum extrusion conditions were selected to be $210^{\circ}C$ and 100 rpm, respectively. There was no distinct changes in melting temperature of the composites, but the crystallization temperature increased by $10-20^{\circ}C$ owing to the heterogeneous nuclei of BF. It was checked that the optimum BF content was in the range of 15-20 wt% from the results of tensile and flexural properties of the composites. The effect of the compatibilizer on mechanical properties was confirmed by SEM images of fractured surface and contact angles.
