  • The purpose of this study is to suggest methods for the community design through users' behavior study in apartment housing. This study was approached by using both theoretical investigation and empirical research. The theoretical investigation actualized the concept of community design in apartment housing through a literature survey. The empirical survey focused on seeking out a user-oriented design criteria based on the analysis of residents' usage behavior and mental map. The results of this study are as follow: First. regarding the analysis of the residents' attitude toward the share community space(SCS), it was found that the SCS made a sense as community facilities in apartment housing. Second, regarding the SCS through the metal map, it was shown that the sketch map analysis was a useful research method for the community design by actualizing the residents' behavior characteristics. Third. as to the results of analyzing the metal map, it was found that the considered characteristics in recognition of the SCS were related to the liking with the main paths, cross nodes of the moving line, the location of center. and the complexity. In conclusion, the SCS is the main of community design in apartment housing and the above characteristics in recognition are useful as the guidelines in the SCS planning.

  • The purpose of this study is to use system dynamics to establish the relation among each variable through the construction process of Community Planning Model, and examine what changes policy scenarios per alternative cause in Community Planning through policy simulation of the constructed model. Therefore, this study extracted chief variables of Community Planning Projects through precedent researches related to Community Planning, and extracted variables were prepared as causal map to examine in what causal cycle feedback structure within Community Planning they can be explained. Next, Community Planning Model was constructed based on the prepared causal map. The model was verified by specialists' interviews and simulation of example areas. This study, which aimed to construct Community Planning Model using system dynamics, has a significance in that it prepared the foundation to provide useful methodology in monitoring the progress of project or establishing the plan of future Community Planning Projects.

  • Urban redevelopment make a short term effects without consideration about resident‘s lives. so, there are many problems and planners solve the problems to improve urban redevelopment based on resident leaded direction. The purpose of this research is to find inherent district which is character by residents. Most of them could be explained in relation to life, religious leadership, traditional cultural heritage and democratic movement. Group interviews at a field site were carried as the main methodology by people who have an intimate knowledge of the place facts. This research has implication on a cognitive and emotional community map of residents compared to the just physical and geographical map. The places and place recognition activities and movement can be a basic foundation for residents participation in improving their housing neighborhood environment.

  • A phytosociological study of forest vegetation of Mt. Kaya was carried out from August 1988 to September 1992. The forest vegetation of the area was classified into 3 communities (Quercus monogolica community, Lindera erythrocarpa community, Pinus densiflora community) and 3 subunits (Rhododendron mucronulatum subunit, Platycarya strobilacea subunit, typical subunit of Pinusdensiflora community). The Pinus densiflora community was located at the lower altitudes (100~300m) than those of other communities. The Lindera erythrocarpa community was located at the upper altitude (500m). Most of the inverstigated area were occupied by the secondary forest of Pinus densiflora community in the actual vegetation map and the profile diagram, suggesting that it was frequently destroyed by human interference

  • This study investigated the impact of baseflow on fish community in the Ungcheon stream (16.5 km long) located downstream of the Boryeong Dam, Korea. Based on field monitoring, there were five dominant fish species in the Ungcheon Stream accounting for 75% of the total fish community: Zacco platypus, Zacco koreanus, Tridentiger brevispinis, Rhinogobius brunneus, and Pungtungia herzi. These five fish species were selected as target species. HydroGeoSphere (HGS) and River2D models were used for hydrologic and hydraulic simulations, respectively. A habitat suitability index model was used to simulate fish habitat. To assess the impact of baseflow, each representative discharge was examined with or without baseflow. The HGS model was used to calculate baseflow within the study reach. This baseflow was observed to increase gradually with longitudinal distance. Validation of the hydraulic model dem onstrated that computed water surface elevated when baseflow was included, which was in good agreement with measured data, as opposed to the result when baseflow was excluded. Composite suitability index distributions and weighted usable area in the study reach were presented for target species. Simulations indicated that the baseflow significantly increased habitat suitability for the entire fish community. These results demonstrate that there should be a substantial focus on the baseflow for physical habitat simulation.

  • Vegetation structure and sediment properties were investigated in the Wondong wetland of the Nakdong-gang, Yangsan-city, Gyeongsangnam-do, Korea. The vegetation type was classified into eleven communities based on the actual vegetation map: Miscanthus sacchariflorus community, Salix nipponica community, Phragmites communis community, Zizania latiofolia community, Trapa japonica community, Hydrilla verticillata community, Hydrocharis dubia community, Digitaria sanguinalis community, Nelumbo nucifera community, Phragmites japonica community, and Salix matsudana for. tortuosa community. Among them, Distribution area of Miscanthus sacchariflorus community was largest as 12.4 ha (36.3%). The dominant vegetation type was Miscanthus sacchariflorus community based on phytosocialogical method, and it was classified into two subcommunities; Persicaria maackiana - Miscanthus sacchariflorus subcommunity and Hydrilla verticillata - Miscanthus sacchariflorus subcommunity. Ranges of the sediment properties such as pH, conductivity, organic matter, total nitrogen, and available phosphorus were 4.9~6.2, $23{\sim}423{\mu}mho/cm$, 0.37~11.16%, 0.02~0.36% and 0.14~0.38mg/100g, respectively. Percentages of the partical size of the sediment such as clay, silt, and sand were 5.0~27.0%, 6.7~31.3%, and 46.7~88.3%, respectively.

  • In April 2010, Japan Cabinet Office has published the first countermeasure report for severe flood disasters. This report showed various flood-disaster scenarios and factors that widened damages. One of important suggestions was to transmit precious information for long-distance evacuation. So far, local municipalities have made Flood Hazard Map to inform resident risk and evacuation. In this paper, cognition and effectiveness of a flood hazard map in the down ARAKAWA river Tokyo were measured by social questionnaire survey. In conclusion, there were 3 factors to effect validity of a flood hazard map. There were (1) commitment to their neighborhood organization, (2) experience of Kathleen typhoon in 1947 and (3) level of using targeted river. As results, a logical diagram about a flood hazard map perception was drawn and discussed from a view of community-based approach.
