With recent advances in wireless communication and low-power miniaturized biomedical sensor and semiconductor technologies, wireless body area networks (WBAN) has become an integral part of the disaster aid system. Wearable vital sign sensors can track patients' status and location, thus enhancing disaster rescue efficiency. In the past few years, most of the literatures in the area of disaster aid system based on WBAN have focused on issues concerning wireless sensor design, sensor miniaturization, energy efficiency and communication protocols. In this paper, we will give an overview of disaster aid, discuss about the types of network communication as well as outline related issues. We will emphasize on analyzing six key issues in employing the disaster aid system. Finally, we will also highlight some of the challenges that still need to be addressed in the future in order to help the disaster aid system be truly and widely accepted by the public.
In this paper, wireless communication from a smart phone to a hearing aid using audible frequency band sound was considered. 1kHz single channel carrier frequency was applied for amplitude shift keying (ASK) binary data modulation, and the result of the transmission and reception was tested. The overall system process was precisely explained and experimentally evaluated. The result will be applied for realizing a digital hearing aid with remote control feature by a smart phone.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the communication confidence, self-efficacy, and self confidence in first aid and to identify the predictors of self confidence in first aid. Subjects were 202 caregivers and data were collected by questionnaires from march 1 to 31, 2023. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, Pearson correlation coefficients and Multiple regression analysis using the SPSS 29.0 program. Self-efficacy was a positive correlation with communication confidence (r=.54, p<.001), and self confidence in first aid was a negative correlation with communication confidence(r=-.18, p<.05) and self-efficacy(r=-.31, p<.001). Predictive factors for self confidence in first aid were absence of nurse's aide(β=-.18, p=.009) and self-efficacy(β=-.30, p<.001), and explanatory power was 11.0%(Adj R2=.110, p<.001). Based on the results of this study, to develop and apply an educational program focusing on emergency problems.

In this paper, we improved the high frequency noise characteristics of the previously proposed hearing aid circuits for presbycusis, and we designed and fabricated a stereo hearing aid module. The cause of high frequency noise, which occurs in some cases in the previous circuits under high gain conditions, was analyzed through simulations. Two mute switches were added to adjust each boosting gain for right and left ears more accurately by muting the sound of the other ear when adjusting the gain of one ear in the stereo hearing aid module.

The sound we hear is transmitted through the atmosphere. However, both the sound we want to hear and the surrounding sound are mixed, and noise is generated, and the sound is not clearly transmitted due to factors such as distance. In particular, in closed spaces like buildings, it is often difficult to hear sounds from outside because of the sound of reflection. People with hearing impairments, such as the elderly and the deaf, have a hard time hearing the sounds they want to hear. Thus, we are developing a hearing aid that can detect radio waves. To this end, we propose the development of a hearing aid that uses FM radio and Bluetooth. These devices are expected to be useful not only for the elderly and the deaf but also in situations where information is transmitted to a large number of people, such as students and tourists, in a large space. The main purpose of this device is to enable users to hear sound correctly without blind spots.
This study analyzes the effects Korea's grant aid to 53 African countries, focusing on its impacts on improving HDI (Human Development Index) of each recipient country, through panel data analysis. According to the OLS panel analysis, Korea's grant aid on information and communication (IC) sector showed positive and significant correlation with HDI, but aid on administrative system and environment showed negative correlation with HDI. Also, according to the fixed effect panel analysis, aid on IC sector showed positive correlation with HDI, but aid on administrative system showed negative correlation with HDI. In particular, effects of aid was different across the region. In North African region, aid on health improved HDI. However, in Sub-Saharan African region, aid on IC was more effective in improving HDI. This results imply that grand aid on Africa needs to be coordinated strategically across regions and sectors. This paper is meaningful in providing ways that can be mutually beneficial both to donor and recipient countries of grant aid.

It takes a lot of time or is even impossible to communicate for people with physical disability and/or speech impairment. Augmentative and Alternative Communication System is an important computerized tool that makes it possible for those people to communicate. Since not only speech impaired people, but also people with other physical disability cannot use conventional computer input devices easily such as keyboard and mouse, so more simple input devices are need for them to communicate. Thus, in this paper, I designed and implemented a communication aid system, with which they can communicate with simple inputs. I collected frequently used sentences by people with disability and categorized them into 9 everyday language groups. With these categories, they can select any sentence with few simple selections. If none of these categories includes the sentences they want, ChunJiIn keyboard is provided so that they can input the sentences, which can be added to the existing language groups for later use. The priority levels of the sentences in each group is constantly readjusted based on usage frequency so that the number of inputs can be reduced.
Two twin microphones may produce particular patterns of binaural directivity by time delays between the twin microphones. The boundary element method (BEM) was used for the simulation of the sound pressure field around the KEMAR head model in order to quantify the acoustic head effect. The sound pressure onto the microphone was calculated by the BEM to an incident sound pressure. Then a planar directivity pattern was formed by four sound pressure signals from four microphones. The optimal binaural directivity pattern may be achieved by adjusting time delays at each frequency while maintaining the forward beam pattern is relatively bigger than the backward beam pattern. The simulation results were verified by the experimental measurement.

The advent of location-based social networks (LBSNs), and the pervasive use of smartphones have allowed individuals to easily inform their status through locational information. This led to a new trend in social media: to upload geotagged photos that illustrate the location of the images and then share them with others. In this circumstance, the current study aims to examine the use of geotags on Instagram. Further, the motivations for using geotags as well as the relationship among the motivation, satisfaction, and location information sharing behavior are analyzed. The online survey was conducted on 411 respondents of Hong Kong who are active Instagram users. Based on uses and gratification theory and goal theory, the users' motivations and goals for utilizing geotags were divided into mainly two categories; task-involved and self-involved goals. Then, four different motivations (contribution, memory aid, showing off, and reputation gaining) were further examined. The result indicated that contribution, memory aid, and reputation gaining were the goals and motivation for the users to utilize geotags on Instagram, having a positive impact on satisfaction. However, a positive relationship between showing off and geotag satisfaction was not supported. Among four different factors, memory aid was found to have the strongest influence on geotagging satisfaction. The result of testing the relationship between geotag satisfaction and further location information sharing behavior also turned out to have a positive relationship. The implications and limitations of findings are also discussed in the study.

In this paper, we propose a new digital hearing aid circuit that compensates the impaired threshold level changing nonlinearly using a multi-band compensation technique. In the algorithm the hearing frequency range 8kHz is divided into 64 bands which is 125Hz resolution. Each band is controlled finely to compensate the hearing impaired proportional to personal ROM table. The multi-band is introduced using a FFT/IFFT Processor which makes to control in frequency domain. As a result, the proposed circuit is more efficient $15\%$ than a conventional ones such as FIR filter architecture in terms of the compensation gun and accuracy. The hardware size was reduced $65\%$ than a general FFT by pre-handling of the input data.
