  • Today, we are exposed to various text-based media such as newspapers, Internet articles, and SNS, and the amount of text data we encounter has increased exponentially due to the recent availability of Internet access using mobile devices such as smartphones. Collecting useful information from a lot of text information is called text analysis, and in order to extract information, it is performed using technologies such as Natural Language Processing (NLP) for processing natural language with the recent development of artificial intelligence. For this purpose, a morpheme analyzer based on everyday language has been disclosed and is being used. Pre-learning language models, which can acquire natural language knowledge through unsupervised learning based on large numbers of corpus, are a very common factor in natural language processing recently, but conventional morpheme analysts are limited in their use in specialized fields. In this paper, as a preliminary work to develop a natural language analysis language model specialized in the railway field, the procedure for construction a corpus specialized in the railway field is presented.

  • In this paper, the efficient layout method for generating common and continuous cutting path of flat-bar profile. The ‘flat -bar’ is a stiffener and has long rectangular shape. This paper describes a fast nesting algorithm of the flat-bar, and a procedure to generate cutting path of gas/plasma torch, which is operated by a NC (numerically controlled) gas/plasma cutting machine. By using this common and continuous path, the machining-time for cutting and the maintenance-cost of plasma-torch could be reduced. Proposed procedures are written in C-language and applied to the Interactive Flat-Bar-Nesting System executable on Open VMS with X-Window system.

  • The paper proposed a basic architecture of an agent system to support exchange and sharing of design informations by means of ACL(Agent Communication Language) which can represent design informations and knowledges. Based on the architecture of the agent system a ship initial design agent system was implemented in order to show the effectiveness of the agent-based system. The basic architecture of the agent consists of an ACL handlerand CORBA(Common Object Request Broker Architecture) objects for the exchange of ACL messages in the heterogeneous and distributed environment. The ACL handler can process expressions of knowledge and manage communication messages among the agents. The paper mainly focuses on the implementation of the ACL handler. The ACL handler consist of a KQML(Knowledge Query and Manipulation Language) handler that manages KQML messages, a conversation module, and a content handler that handles message contents. The conversation modulo implements conversation policies and checks all messages if they are allowable and meaningful messages based on the conversation policies. The implemented agent-based system was applied to the ship initial design to show the handling procedure of the agent system.

  • The problem of the sentence-based pronunciation evaluation task is defined in the context of subjective criteria. Three subjective criteria (that is, the minimum subjective word score, the mean subjective word score, and first impression) are proposed and modeled with the combination of word-based assessment. Then, the subjective criteria are approximated with objective sentence pronunciation scores obtained with the combination of word-based metrics. No a priori studies of common mistakes are required, and class-based language models are used to incorporate incorrect and correct pronunciations. Incorrect pronunciations are automatically incorporated by making use of a competitive lexicon and the phonetic rules of students' mother and target languages. This procedure is applicable to any second language learning context, and subjective-objective sentence score correlations greater than or equal to 0.5 can be achieved when the proposed sentence-based pronunciation criteria are approximated with combinations of word-based scores. Finally, the subjective-objective sentence score correlations reported here are very comparable with those published elsewhere resulting from methods that require a priori studies of pronunciation errors.

  • The advent of Internet of Things (IoT) makes common nowadays computing environments involving programming not a single computer but several heterogeneous distributed computers together. Developing programs separately, one for each computer, increases programmer burden and testing all the programs become more complex. To address the challenge, this paper proposes an RPC-based unified programming language, UniPy, for development of MGC (eMbedded, Gateway, and Cloud) applications in IoT systems configured with popular computers such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and Web-based DB server. UniPy offers programmers a view of classes as locations and a very simple form of remote procedure call mechanism. Our UniPy compiler automatically splits a UniPy program into small pieces of the program at different locations supporting the necessary RPC mechanism. An advantage of UniPy programs is to permit programmers to write local codes the same as for a single computer requiring no extra knowledge due to having unified programming models, which is very different from the existing research works such as Fabryq and Ravel. Also, the structure of UniPy programs allows programmers to test them by directly executing them before splitting, which is a feature that has never been emphasized yet.

  • This paper determined students' ranks of difficulty on the use of materials in terms of 1) understanding the layout of the learning materials, 2) reading comprehension of the learning materials, and 3) realization on relevance to needs of the learning materials. It also determined students' 4) rank and frequency of attitude on the materials. With the data gathered through 128 survey questionnaires, 7 focused group discussions, and 10 interviews, the results were found out that there was an inappropriate assessment procedure set by this particular university. The researcher concludes that: 1) design of four types of classes by just using the two textbooks with their respective workbooks is grammar-based with limited conversation activities; 2) placement for these students in one big class size was implemented without considering their common interest and motivation and language levels; and, 3) qualification of teachers teaching these EFL students did not support students' real needs and the language program itself. Content professors who were made to teach may have the ability to input learning, but their teaching styles may differ from the ones who are real English teachers. This paper then recommends that teachers and school administration should have an appropriate placement exam before students attend the class, especially in a big class size. There could only be a few problems among students in one big class size when students' level of competence is proportioned. With this, topics and conversation activities can even be more flexible with the maneuver of art of questioning, various dimensions of thinking, strategic competence, learning attitude or behavior, etc. to ensure sustenance of communicative mode and level of interest and motivation in the classroom. Grammar-based instruction can only be taught when a need arises. Thus, the course description of each class will be able to transact the objectives ready for developing students' communication competence. Moreover, proper measurement can be utilized to validly assess the amount of students' learning and the progress of language curriculum design in terms of materials selection and teaching approach.

  • Until now, a variety of the standard and research activities are progressed in the business process management. However, since the common standard of the collaboration process language has not been determined, the research activities could not be well-systemized. We would present the guide-line to select and use the collaboration process language straightly through comparing different collaboration process languages (BPEL4WS, BPML, WSCI, WS-CDL, BPSS, etc). In this regard, we define the implicit and the explicit collaboration as the collaboration method in advance and present the result acquired according to compare and analyze the features of the collaboration process languages. First, the necessary elements the collaboration process languages have are extracted through the framework of the inter-organizational workflow proposed by Bernauer and the collaboration process modeling procedure(CPMP). Second, we analyze the properties of the collaboration process language based the essential elements. Finally, we show the complete example that the collaboration business process really reflects the characteristics of the collaboration business process languages

  • This article aims, by analyzing structurally the codification of dress sign in Korean society, the signifying system of the codes and their message communicated, to make clear a signifying structure that would be codified through the relationship between abstract concepts and real condition of dress. I used the semiotic theory of Ferdinand de Saussure′s conception on structuralismly the codification, cultural semiology of Roland Barthes and Myung-Sook Han′s formula of dress structure as tools analyse may objective of wedding dress of folks in Choson Dynasty, which has been successive our traditional Korean wedding dress. My results of the study are : The procedure of wedding ceremony in Choson Dynasty was presented in texts like Juga-garye, Sarye-peonram and Kukjo-orye, its dress system has been more emphasized on language, and aspect of social system, than parole, one of individual realization. In addition, the meanings of marrage such as "Oneness of bride and bridegroom", "Mixture of two sexes", "Blessing of good luck", were included in the signified like the style, pattern and color of the wedding dress, and specially, pattern and color, the articulated morphemes, was emphasized, When we combinated terms of dress in Choson Dynasty with syntagmatic, regarding their list as paradigmatic, it will signify a wedding dress, and according to combinating ways, it amy be divided as sign of dresses of bride and bridgeroom by sex or king, gentry and common people by class. • This paper presents a new architecture, called "Power Electronics Remote Wiring and Measurement Laboratory (PermLAB)", that translates a common gateway interface (CGI) string from a remote web user to a web server connected to a 3-dimension switching matrix board, can be used to switch on and off, and to control a cluster of instruments and components. PermLAB addresses real-time connection, switching, and data acquisition over the Internet instead of using simulated data. A software procedure uses a signature system to identify each instrument and component in a complex system. The Web-server application is developed in HTML, JavaScript and Java, and in C language for the CGI interface, which resides in a controller portion of LabVIEW. The LabVIEW software fully integrates the Web sever, LabVIEW data acquisition boards and controllers, and the 3-dimensional switching matrix board. The paper will analyze a half-wave rectifier (AC - DC converter) circuit connected over the Internet using the PermLAB. PermLAB allows students to obtain real data by real-time wiring of real circuits in the laboratory using a "virtual breadboard" on the Web. The software for the Web-based 3-dimensional system is flexible, portable, can be integrated into many laboratory applications or expanded, and easily accessible worldwide.
