에어컨 배관 시스템의 형상 최적설계 (Shape Optimization of an Air Conditioner Piping System)

  • Ensuring both product quality and reducing material cost are important issue for the design of the piping system of an air conditioner outdoor unit. This paper describes a shape optimization that achieves mass reduction of an air conditioner piping system while satisfying two design constraints on resonance avoidance and the maximum stress in the pipes. In order to obtain optimized design results with various analysis fields considered simultaneously, an automated multidisciplinary analysis system was constructed using PIAnO v.2.4, a commercial process integration and design optimization(PIDO) tool. As the first step of the automated analysis system, a finite element model is automatically generated corresponding to the specified shape of the pipes using a morphing technique included in HyperMesh. Then, the performance indices representing various design requirements (e.g. natural frequency, maximum stress and pipe mass) are obtained from the finite element analyses using appropriate computer-aided engineering(CAE) tools. A sequential approximate optimization(SAO) method was employed to effectively obtain the optimum design. As a result, the pipe mass was reduced by 18 % compared with that of an initial design while all the constraints were satisfied.

복합재 쿼드콥터의 진동 특성 분석과 공진 회피에 대한 연구 (Research of Vibration Analysis and Resonance Avoidance Design of Composite Quadcopter)

  • 본 연구에서는 복합재료가 적용된 쿼드콥터의 진동 특성을 분석하고, 공진에 대해 회피 설계 및 해석을 수행하였다. 로터-암의 파이프가 복합재료로 구성된 상용 쿼드콥터의 플랫폼을 모사하고 상용 해석 프로그램을 이용하여 진동 특성 분석을 하였다. 실제 적층 배열을 해석에 적용하고, 참고 문헌과의 비교를 통해 신뢰성을 판단하였다. 그리고 모터의 가동범위 내에 특정 모드의 고유 진동수가 포함되는 것을 확인하였다. 기존 모델에서 적층 배열, 로터-암의 길이, 두께의 총 3가지의 변수를 선정해 공진 회피 설계를 수행하였다. 공진 회피 설계의 3가지 변수에서 각 해석의 결과를 비교한 후, 공진 회피 설계의 효율성 측면에서 방향을 제시하였다.

  • A numerical analysis was conducted to predict the heat transfer characteristics of a high-temperature, high heat flux solar receiver as the end-wall angle varied. The concentration ratio of the solar receiver ranges from 200 to 1000 and the concentrated heat is required to be transported to a certain distance for specific applications. This study deals with a solar receiver incorporating high-temperature sodium heat pipe as well as a typical one that employs a molten-salt circulation loop with the same outer dimensions. The isothermal characteristics in the receiver section is of major concern. The diameter of the solar thermal receiver was 120 mm and the length was 400 mm. FLUENT, a commercial software, was employed to deal with the radiative heat transfer inside the receiver cavity and the convection heat transfer along the channels and heat pipes. The numerical results were compared and analyzed from the view point of heat transfer characteristics the solar receiver system.

  • This study deals with heat pipes inserted into the metal hydride(MH) reactor to increase the effective thermal conductivity of the system and thus to enhance the thermal control characteristics. A numerical analysis was conducted to predict the effect of inserted heat pipes on the heat transfer characteristics of MH, which inherently has extremely low thermal conductivity. The numerical model was a cylindrical container of O.D. 76.3 mm and length 1 m, which is partially filled with about 60% of MH material. The heat pipe was made of copper-water combination, which is suitable for operation temperature range between $10^{\circ}C$ and $80^{\circ}C$. Both inner -and outer- heat pipes were considered in the model. Less than two hours of transient time is of concern when decreasing or increasing the temperature for absorption and discharge of hydrogen gas. FLUENT, a commercial software, was employed to predict the transient as well as steady-state temperature distribution of the MH reactor system. The numerical results were compared and analyzed from the view point of temperature uniformity and transient time up to the specified maximum or minimum temperatures.

Assessment of flow-accelerated corrosion-induced wall thinning in SA106 pipes with elbow sections

  • A combination of flow-accelerated corrosion (FAC) tests and corresponding computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tests were performed to determine the hydrodynamic parameters that could help predict the highly susceptible location to FAC in the elbow section. The accelerated FAC tests were performed on a specimen containing elbow sections fabricated using commercial 2-inch carbon steel pipe. The tests were conducted at flow rates of 9 m/s under the following conditions: water temperature of 150 ℃, dissolved oxygen <5 ppb, and pH 7. Thickness reduction of the specimen pipe due to FAC was measured using ultrasonic testing. CFD was conducted on the FAC test specimen, and the turbulence intensity, and shear stress were analyzed. Notably, the location of the maximum hydrodynamic parameters, that is, the wall shear stress and turbulent intensity, is also the same location with maximum FAC rate. Therefore, the shear stress and turbulence intensity can be used as hydrodynamic parameters that help predict the FAC-induced wall-thinning rate. The results provide a method to identify locations susceptible to FAC and can be useful for determining inspection priority in piping systems.

파이프 내 흡음재 및 형상에 따른 유동 및 방사소음에 대한 수치해석적 연구 (Effect of the Inner Material and Pipe Geometry on the Flow and Induced Radiated Noise)

  • 파이프 유동 내에서 일어나는 소음 및 진동현상의 경우 일반적으로 난류유동과 근처의 벽면사이의 유동유기진동에 의해 일어나게 된다. 복잡한 난류유동을 가지는 확장관의 단순한 경우에서 본 연구는 수행되었지만, 방사소음의 경우 주어진 모델에서 크기와 형상 그리고 두께 등에 상당히 영향을 받게 된다. 또한, 방사소음은 그 파가 퍼져나가면서 주위 시스템에 교란특성이나 불안정성을 야기시키게 되는데 결국 중요한 파단과 파손을 일으키게 된다. 본 연구는 다양한 상용프로그램들 (Fluent, NASTRAN, 그리고 VIRTUAL LAB)을 이용하여 이러한 현상을 파악하고자 하였다. 이 연구를 통해 유동소음에 있어 깔려있는 물리현상들을 이해하고자 하였다. 확장관의 경우 단면적의 급격한 변화에 의해 박리와 높은 압력강하를 겪게 되는데, 방사소음의 계산으로 이 방사소음의 크기가 100에서 500Hz영역에서 전체적으로 약 20dB정도 감소시킬 수 있는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

Analysis on the performance and internal flow of a tubular type hydro turbine for vessel cooling system

  • The temperature of the main engine cabin of commercial vessel is very high. The material SS-316L undergoes creep damage at temperatures exceeding $450^{\circ}C$. It is essential to maintain the highly stressed engine cabin below the creep regime. Hence, seawater is employed in this kind of maritime vehicles as cooling liquid. It obtains the thermal energy at the cooling pipe line after passing through main engine cooling system. To harness the energy in the seawater, a turbine can be installed to absorb the energy in the seawater before being released into the sea. In this study, a cooling pipe line is selected to apply the tubular type hydro turbine for transferring the energy. Numerical analysis for investigating the performance and the internal flow characteristics of the tubular turbine is conducted. The results show that the maximum efficiency of 85.8% is achieved although the efficiency drops rapidly at partial flow rate condition. The efficiency descends slowly at the condition of excess flow rate. There is a relatively wide operating range of flow rate of this turbine to keep high efficiency at the excess flow rate condition. For the internal flow of the turbine, there is uniform streamline on the suction and pressure sides of the blade at the design point. However, the secondary flow appears at the suction and pressure sidesat the excess flow rate.In addition, it appears only at pressure side at the partial flow rate condition.

소방 배관 동파방지용 열선의 위치 선정을 위한 비정상 열전달 수치해석 (Numerical Analysis of Unsteady Heat Transfer for the Location Selection of Anti-freeze for the Fire Protection Piping with Electrical Heat Trace)

  • 본 논문에서는 에너지방정식과 비정상 비압축성 Navier-Stokes 방적식을 사용하여 동절기 소방배관의 동파방지를 위한 최적의 열선위치를 확인하였다. 물의 자연대류와 소방 배관의 전도 열방정식이 결합된 복합열전달을 해석하였다. 혼합 열전달 배관 내 물의 비정상적인 유동과 온도분포를 확인하기 위하여 SIMPLE 형태의 알고리즘을 기반으로 한 상용코드(ANSYS-FLUENT)가 사용되었다. 수치해석을 수행하여 등온선과 벡터장을 살펴보았다. 물의 열팽창계수를 일정하다고 가정할 때 소방 배관 단면의 하부에 열선을 설치하는 것이 다른 위치에 설치하는 것보다 시간에 따른 물의 최저온도가 가장 높아서 동파방지에 가장 효과적인 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

열선의 직선시공과 감기시공의 동파방지 효과 비교를 위한 3차원 비정상 수치해석 (Comparison of the Effects of Straight and Twisted Heat Trace Installations Based on Three-dimensional Unsteady Heat Transfer)

  • 본 논문에서는 동절기 소방배관의 동파방지를 위한 열선의 직선 시공과 감기 시공의 효과를 수치해석을 통하여 분석하였다. 두 시공법들의 효과 분석을 위하여 3차원 에너지방정식과 비정상 비압축성 Navier-Stokes 방적식의 비정상 해를 구하였다. 수치해석에서 물의 자연대류와 소방 배관의 열전도 방정식이 상호작용을 하므로 복합열전달 해석을 상용코드 ANSYS-FLUENT에서 제공하는 압력-속도 연성기법들 중의 하나인 SIMPLE 알고리즘을 이용하여 수행하였다. 수치해석을 통하여 시간에 따른 배관 내의 유동장 및 온도분포와 배관 내 물의 최대 및 최소온도 변화를 고찰하였다. 수치해석 결과 배관 단위 길이 당 투입열량이 동일한 경우에 감기 시공과 직선 시공의 동파방지 효과는 거의 동일함을 확인하였다. 따라서, 열선 손상과 단락 등을 고려하면 직선 시공이 더 나은 시공법이라 판단된다.

신형 수이젝터 개발을 위한 실험연구 (Experimental Study of the Development of New Type Water Ejector)

  • An ejector driven by a liquid is a fluid transfer equipment to be used under a poor suction condition, which means that there exists a possibility to occur a cavitation. It is a highly reliable device because it has no movable part in it, that is only a passive equipment. The ejector is an inevitably necessary one to overcome a poor pumping condition and to mix uniformly two fluids, however it has a low efficiency since it requires a pump for its operation. This study is for the development of a new-type liquid ejector with the application of a nozzle shape alteration, which maximize the suction performance of it. which provides the increased competition with the domestic industries. Also, the increased performance opens a new manufacturing method to use a commercial pipes for the production of an ejector, which is based on a trivial loss of a performance. However, this minor loss can be sufficiently compensated by the increased performance of a new-type ejector. Therefore, the developed ejector by this study can considerably reduce the manufacturing time and cost while its performance is largely increased.
