  • In this paper, collision analysis is carried out between two FRP fishing boats. A computer simulation with finite element method is used to accomplish this objective. At first, a detailed geometric model of the boat is constructed using 3-D CAD program. The formation of a finite element from a geometric data of the boats is carried out using HYPERMESH that is the commercial software for mesh generation and post processing. Twelve collision configurations are established by combining two kinds of contact angle($90^{\circ},\;135^{\circ}$) and three different speed(5, 10, 15knot) for small and large boats. Collision analysis is accomplished using DYNA3D. Stress distribution and deformation shape are investigated for each collision condition. In general, $90^{\circ}$ collision angle generate larger stress than $135^{\circ}$ case and the collision for two moving boats showed larger maximum stress than the case that one is moving and the other is stationary. When analysis is carried out until 150ms contact parts of two boats are broken for 10 and 15knot collision speed, in which maximum stress is larger than ultimate strength of the material.

  • The research team for the virtual construction development was established with the support of Korea Ministry of Construction and Transportation, and KICTEP (Korea Institute of Construction and Transportation Technology Evaluation and Planning). Its aims are to develop system that is to improve productivity & quality, to create a higher value-added business, and to cultivate international competitiveness in the construction industry. The virtual construction system is a design, engineering, and construction management information system that allows the project participants to effectively share the information throughout the construction life cycle with the support of 3D and design information. To achieve this, the research team focuses on developing several systems. First, the team focuses on developing for the pre-planning, the structural engineering, MEP, and the 3D based estimation system. Second, they focus on developing a simulation system for the construction process planning and feasibility study with help of the virtual reality technologies. Third, they focus on developing the CPLM (Construction Project Life-cycle Management) system for managing construction project data, and the decision support system that makes the collaboration among the project participants based on 3D technologies and information. We also focus on developing the SDAI (Standard Data Access Interface), the localized guideline for 3D design, and a training program. In addition, we focus on developing the undeveloped area of the commercial system and building an environment that can support the communication and collaboration in the construction life-cycle rather than developing the existing and commercialized system.

  • One of the fastest growing segments of implant dentistry is the utilization of computed tomography (CT) scan data and treatment planning software in conjunction with guided surgery for implant reconstruction cases. Computer assisted planning systems and associated surgical templates have established a predictable, esthetic, functional technique for placing and restoring implants. Especially, a philosophy of restoratively driven implant placement has been generally adopted. Recently, a variety of commercial dental fields have released their scanning and fabricating protocols and methods for restorations. This process is still being investigated and developed for the most precise and predictable outcome. This case report describes a female patient who wanted dental implants in fully edentulous areas. Restoratively driven implant placements were performed with surgical guide and the patient was fully satisfied with the clinical results, and at 5-year post restorative follow-up assessment, both implant and prosthesis were proved clinical success.

  • This study was intended to analyse the relation between the psychic traumatic experience and the psychological health of the aged. The authors carried out this study by means of the combined anxiety-depression scale(CADS) and the preadolescence traumatic experience scale(PTES) with 278 aged men and women residing in Taegu from September to October 1988. The results were as follows : 1. Based on the scores avaluated by CADS, the scores of the both groups showed that comparative group was accounted for $40.15{\pm}6.19$, while the experimental group for $57.75{\pm}6.37$, which showed significantly higher score in the experimental group(p<0.001). 2. The experimental group showed significantly higher early experience score than the comparative group in the dietary difficulty, alcoholism among family members, disunion between husband and wife, trouble between mother and children, early mother loss, parent's indifference and unwanted birth(p<0.001). 3. The experimental group showed higher early experience score than the comparative group by sex, age, marital status and grown location(p<0.001). 4. When the subjects were included in the unemployed and in the middle or low classes and their parents were engaged in agriculture and commercial business and believing in buddhism or non-religion, showed higher experience score (p<0.001).
