Thalamoperforating artery aneurysms are rarely reported in the literature. We report an extremely rare case of ruptured distal anterior thalamoperforating artery aneurysm which was treated by endovascular obliteration in a patient with occlusion of both the internal carotid arteries (ICAs) : A 72-year-old woman presented with severe headache and loss of consciousness. Initial level of consciousness at the time of admission was drowsy and the Glasgow Coma Scale score was 14. Brain computed tomography (CT) scan was performed which revealed intracerebral hemorrhage in right basal ganglia, subarachnoid hemorrhage, and intraventricular hemorrhage. The location of the aneurysm was identified as within the globus pallidus on CT angiogram. Conventional cerebral angiogram demonstrated occlusion of both the ICAs just distal to the fetal type of posterior communicating artery and the aneurysm was arising from right anterior thalamoperforating artery (ATPA). A microcatheter was navigated into ATPA and the ATPA proximal to aneurysm was embolized with 20% glue. Post-procedural ICA angiogram demonstrated no contrast filling of the aneurysm sac. The patient was discharged without any neurologic deficit. Endovascular treatment of ATPA aneurysm is probably a more feasible and safe treatment modality than surgical clipping because of the deep seated location of aneurysm and the possibility of brain retraction injury during surgical operation.

본 논문은 annular binary filter로 진폭 변조된 일반광학계와 공초점계에 구면 수차와 코미가 존재할 때 축상 PSF, GAIN을 계산하였다. 고려한 동의 형태는 진폭이 1인 0~r$_1$의 안쪽 환형과 r~1의 바깥쪽 환형으로 구성되어있고, 두 환형의 면적이 같을때와 다를 때 두가지 경우에 대해 고려하였다. 면적이 같을때를 대칭(symmetry), 다를 때를 비대칭(asymmetry)이라 하여 asymmetry parameter $\varepsilon$를 도입하였다. 동의 반경을 1로 규격화한 개구면에서 obstruction parameter $\mu$에 따라 변조폭을 고려하여 일반광학계와 공초점계에 대한 축상 PSF를 계산하였고 축상에서 superresolution을 살펴보기 위해서 GAIN을 정의 하여 $\mu$에 따른 GAIN을 구하였다 특히 일반광학계에 구면수차가 존재할 때 축상 PSF를 수식적으로 전개하였다.

Neurotoxic shellfish poisoning (NSP) can result from eating filter-feeding shellfish carrying brevetoxins produced by the marine dinoflagellate Krenia brevis (formally Gymnodinium breve). Brevetoxins enhance sodium entry into cells via voltage-sensitive sodium channels and have an excitatory effect. The incubation period is three hours (range 15 minutes-18 hours). NSP is characterized by gastroenteritis combined with neurologic symptoms. Gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms include abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea and burning pain in the rectum. Neurologic symptoms are paresthesia, reversal of hot and cold temperature sensation, myalgia, headache, vertigo, and ataxia. Other symptoms may include malaise, tremor, dysphagia, bradycardia, decreased reflexes, dilated pupils, seizure, and coma. The health problem caused by K. breviscan be associated with a red tide bloom. We encountered 3 cases of neurotoxic shellfish poisoning. They all presented with GI and neurologic symptoms andrecovered after conservative treatment.

This study was to examine the rate of recovery from the consciousness impairment from two sessions of comprehensive consciousness stimulation program. Which was developed for this study, was higher than the one which was obtained naturally with only conventional care. Method: The subjects were selected among the patients who were admitted in the Intensive Care Unit or in the Sub-Intensive Care Unit in one of the university hospital, located in Inchon. For the treatment of the deterioration of his/her consciousness level resulting from neurological causes. Results: The effect of the first intervention on consciousness state began to appear two weeks the intervention initiation and to disappear two weeks after the end of the intervention. The significant effect of the second session of the consciousness stimulation program also began to appear two weeks the second intervention initiation and persisted until 4 months after intervention was terminated. Conclusion: It appeared that the first intervention effect had gradual onset and gradual decay, while the second intervention effect had gradual onset and permanent duration.

Recently it is found that the globular clusters are not only bound in their host galaxies, but also are wandering between galaxies in Virgo and Coma clusters. The cluster-wide distribution of these intracluster globular clusters (IGCs) suggests that IGCs are an important probe to understand hierarchical structure formation. We present a survey of IGCs in Virgo cluster using HST archive images for four HST/ACS fields located from about 9 arcmin to 40 acrmin from the cluster center. We find ten new IGCs and confirm four previously known IGCs. The number density of IGCs decreases as the distance from the cluster center increases. We derive integrated photometry of IGCs. We also obtain photometry of resolved stars in the outer region of each cluster. These IGCs are fainter than $M_V{\approx}-9.5$ and mostly blue in (V-I) color. showing that they are mostly metal poor. The locations of red giant branch stars of IGCs in color-magnitude diagrams also show that they are meal-poor. We discuss the implications of these results.

We examine both optical and optical/near-infrared (NIR) color distributions of the globular cluster (GC) system in the core of the Coma cluster of galaxies (Abell 1656), centered on the giant elliptical galaxy NGC 4874, to study how non-linearities in the color-metallicity relations of GC systems in large elliptical galaxies are linked to bimodal optical color distributions. Since optical-NIR color distributions of extragalactic GC systems reflect the underlying features of the metallicity distributions, we also present the color-color relation for this GC system. In order to do this, we combine F160W ($H_{160}$) NIR imaging data acquired with the Wide Field Camera 3 IR Channel (WFC3/IR), newly installed on Hubble Space Telescope (HST), with F475W ($g_{475}$) and FF814W ($I_{814}$) optical imaging data from the HST Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS). To quantitatively explain the feature of color distributions, we use the Gaussian Mixture Modeling (GMM) code. Finally, we show the radial distribution of the GCs in the field of NGC 4874.

We reexamine the Goryeosa (History of the Goryeo Dynasty, A.D. 918-1392) account that Halley's Comet was seen during the daytime on September 9, 1222. To verify whether the referenced "daytime" refers to twilight or daylight (i.e., when the Sun is above horizon), we determine the absolute magnitude and heliocentric power-law exponent for Halley's Comet using observations made around the perihelion in 1986 and a formula considering the brightness enhancement by forward-scattering. We then apply the results to estimate the light curve of Halley's Comet in the 1222 event and find that the total visible magnitude could reach a maximum of -1.7 on September 8, one day before the Goryeosa's account. Therefore, we think that Halley's Comet with a coma of -1.7 mag and tail-length of about $20^{\circ}$ was actually observed during the day on September 9 because the observational conditions on that day were so good that Venus was visible in daylight. Furthermore, we think that the event might have been witnessed in the morning sky because the contents of Venus's culmination (occurred around September 9.07 TT) continue on the same day account.

Late-type galaxies falling into a cluster would evolve being influenced by the interactions with both the cluster and the nearby cluster member galaxies. Most numerical studies, however, tend to focus on the effects of the former with little work done on those of the later. We thus perform numerical study on the evolution of a late-type galaxy falling radially toward the cluster center interacting with neighbouring early-type galaxies, using N-body, hydrodynamical simulations. Based on the information about the typical galaxy encounters obtained by using the galaxy catalog of Coma cluster, we run the simulations for the cases where a Milky Way Galaxy-like late-type galaxy, flying either edge-on or face-on, experiences six consecutive collisions with twice more massive early-type galaxies having hot gas in their halos. Our simulations show that the evolution of the late-type galaxy can be significantly affected by the high-speed multiple collisions with the early-type galaxies, such as on the cold gas content and the star formation activity, particularly through the hydrodynamic interactions between the cold disk and the hot gas halos. By comparing our simulation results with those of others, we claim that the role of the galaxy-galaxy interactions on the evolution of late-type galaxies in clusters could be comparable with that of the galaxy-cluster interactions, depending on the dynamical history.

Objective: There were few reports on the treatment of Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy. We treated a hypoxic ischemic encephalopathic patient after accident with Oriental medical approach, and get a significant result. this treatment shows the possibility of healing Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, So we are reporting that case. Method : The acupuncture, herb medication. rehabilitation therapy was applied for treting patient's chife symptom(involuntary movement, dystonia, aphasia, dysuria, constipation) Results : 1. Generally patients with Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy show language impairment and cognition disorder for several weeks to months. After coma stage, first they recover consciousness but have various degree of confusional mentality, visual agnosia, extrapyramidal stiffness and motor disturbance. 2. Consciousness loss in acute stage of Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy can be considered as Mental Confusion due to Phlegm(Dammisimgyu) in veiw point of Oriental medicine. 3. After oriental medical treatment, patient's chief symptoms were improved. Conclusion: We treated a hypoxic ischemic encephalopathic patient with Oriental medical approach and patient's chief symptoms were improved. this treatment shows the possibility of healing Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy.

This study has been carried out to investigate the cause and symptom treatment of Dam-Hum (痰飮) by referring to 41 literatures. The results were as follows; 1. The factors causing Dam-Eum (痰飮) divided into 3 groups. The 1st outer factors are six dirty (六淫), 2nd week and yanghu (陽虛), 3rd mental. 2. The symptom of Dam-Eum (痰飮) is as follows. (1) dam(痰) : cough, retching, pain of sub-ribs, vomiting, crazy, coma, dizziness. (2) eum(飮) : edema, stimulus feeling in throat, cough with pain, cough, hemoptysis indigestion. 3. The treatment of Dam-Eum (痰飮) is as follows. gudam(祛痰), sungi(順氣), bobipaesin(補脾肺腎), chungyul(淸熱), jesep(除濕). 4. The drugs of Dam-Eum (痰飮) is as follows. gudam (祛痰): ejintang (二陳湯), dodamtang (導痰湯), gunghatang (芎夏湯). sungi (順氣) : chilgitang (七氣湯), gamisachiltang (加味四七湯). babi (補脾) : gwibitang (歸脾湯), sagunjatang (四君子湯). bopae (補肺) : bapaetang (補肺湯), yunpaeeum (潤肺湯), saeumjun (四飮煎). bosin (補腎) : yukmihwan (六味丸), palmihwan (八味丸), singihwan (腎氣丸).
