A study on the Practical Use of the COS Color System in Interior Design - Focused on the Color Analysis of '97-'98 Interior Materials Produced in Korea - (실내디자인 분야에서 COS color System의 활용성에 관한 연구 -' 97-'98 실내마감재 색채분석을 중심으로 -)

  • Originally the COS system was developed based on fashion colors. But in interiors many other color groups are used frequently, so the COS system is somewhat insufficient for interior design work. The purpose of this study is to verify the pratical use of the COS system in finishing colors of housing interiors and to propose the additional colors based on interior finishings. The COS system and the NCS color system were used for color measurement. The results was as follows. In the hues, Y.YR.GY.PB.B.BG color groups were used for interior material more frequently. And regardless of hues, low saturation and high value colors were used. Most of the colors were inscribed as the COS system and the NCS color system simultaneouly, but muted and grayed color tones like pale.light.grayish.soft cannot be founded in the COS system. Therefore more subdued and soothing tones of Y.YR.GY.PB.B.BG color groups should be added to the COS system.

  • The exterior color of the building reflects its style. With the advancement of the 'Village Art' project in South Korea, many villages have gradually developed into tourist attractions. Therefore, it is also important to distinguish between residents' lifestyles and tourist needs through architectural color design. This article first investigates the literature and analyzes the use function of the building and the role of the exterior color in the villages. Secondly, the four types of buildings in Huinnyeoul Culture Village: residential, commercial, leisure, and public toilets are investigated as the research objects. Analyze through the KSCA color measurement analysis system and questionnaire survey, and propose a color plan for the exterior of the building. Research results: First, the main color area of the outer wall of the residential building should be the largest, with a tendency of high brightness and low saturation. Second, small buildings with high chroma in the recreation area can be used as visual guidance.Third, the buildings in the commercial area are mainly of high brightness, high chroma, and multi-hue. Fourth, the main color of the bathroom is the main color of the residential area and the leisure area, which can provide a sense of visual stability.

Change of yellowness ($b^*$) edge in time tend to increase saturation increases, the yellowness value of Cafelatte, Vanillalatte, Americano, except for distilled water at the saturation of yellowness value were no statistically significant (p<.05). 4. Change of color difference (${\Delta}E^*$) in order of (Americano>Cafelatte>Vanillalatte) as time of immersion increases change of color difference appear and no statistically significant (p<.05). Americano, the edge, since there can be more than chrominance is 3.3 uses station than a Vanillalatte, Cafelatte and discoloration when edge in 28, since even in the one to two difficult to distinguish with the naked eye as a discoloration. It was no difference statistically in color difference (${\Delta}E^*$) value in distilled water (p>.05).

Analysis of Emotional Colors in The Mise-en-scene of The Film (영화 <로얄 테넌바움> 미장센에 나타난 감성색채 이미지 분석)

  • In film, color is a tool for storytelling and a metaphor for a story's theme. This study constructs efficient and objective data by analyzing color images of movies delivered to the audience. This Research the visual perception process of color in films and studies the processes accepted by the audience. Through this research process, we examine the emotional response caused by the visual stimulus of film color and quantify the visual factor through color in the film as a factor that effectively induces the emotional response of viewers who watch the movie. This study analyzes the mise-en-scene of Wes Anderson's film, Royal Tenenbaum, and studies the role of communication in cinematic colors. Quantitative analysis of color distribution data is performed using computer color analysis program on the colors displayed through 10 chapters of mise en scene. Through color analysis, it was analyzed that Anderson composed the movie scenes in red and yellow red (YR) with low saturation and medium brightness. Through this analysis, we study how color is used throughout the film and how the quantitative form of its use is to be used as the psychological factor controlling audience's emotion.

  • The result of analyzing the cognitive reaction due to the color environment has been applied to various filed especially in medical field. Moreover, the study about the identification of patient's condition and examination the brain activity by collecting the bio-signal based on the color environment is being actively conducted. Even though, there were a variety of experiments by convention the color environment using a light or LED color, it still has a problem that affects the psychological information. Therefore, our proposed system using a HMD (Head Mounting display) to provide a completed color environment condition. This system uses the BMS(Biomedical System) to collect the biometric information which responds to the specific color condition and the human body response information can be measured by the development the Memory and Attention test on Mobile phone. The collection of Biometric information includes electro cardiogram(ECG), respiration, oxygen saturation (Sp02), Bio-impedance, blood pressure will store in the database. In addition, we can verify the result of the human body reaction in the color environment by Memory and Attention application. By utilizing the reaction of the human body information that is collected thought the proposed system, we can analyze the correlation between the physiological information and the color environment. And we also expect that this system can apply to the medical diagnosis and treatment. For future work, we will expand the system for prediction and treatment of Alzheimer disease by analyzing the visualization data through the proposed system. We will also do evaluation on the effectiveness of the system for using in the rehabilitation program.

Software development for the visualization of brain fiber tract by using 24-bit color coding in diffusion tensor image

  • Purpose: The purpose of paper is to implement software to visualize brain fiber tract using a 24-bit color coding scheme and to test its feasibility. Materials and Methods: MR imaging was performed on GE 1.5 T Signa scanner. For diffusion tensor image, we used a single shot spin-echo EPI sequence with 7 non-colinear pulsed-field gradient directions: (x, y, z):(1,1,0),(-1,1,0),(1,0,1),(-1,0,1),(0,1,1),(0,1,-1) and without diffusion gradient. B-factor was 500 sec/$\textrm{mm}^2$. Acquisition parameters are as follows: TUTE=10000ms/99ms, FOV=240mm, matrix=128${\times}$128, slice thickness/gap=6mm/0mm, total slice number=30. Subjects consisted of 10 normal young volunteers (age:21∼26 yrs, 5 men, 5 women). All DTI images were smoothed with Gaussian kernel with the FWHM of 2 pixels. Color coding schemes for visualization of directional information was as follows. HSV(Hue, Saturation, Value) color system is appropriate for assigning RGB(Red, Green, and Blue) value for every different directions because of its volumetric directional expression. Each of HSV are assigned due to (r,$\theta$,${\Phi}$) in spherical coordinate. HSV calculated by this way can be transformed into RGB color system by general HSV to RGB conversion formula. Symmetry schemes: It is natural to code the antipodal direction to be same color(antipodal symmetry). So even with no symmetry scheme, the antipodal symmetry must be included. With no symmetry scheme, we can assign every different colors for every different orientation.(H =${\Phi}$, S=2$\theta$/$\pi$, V=λw, where λw is anisotropy). But that may assign very discontinuous color even between adjacent yokels. On the other hand, Full symmetry or absolute value scheme includes symmetry for 180$^{\circ}$ rotation about xy-plane of color coordinate (rotational symmetry) and for both hemisphere (mirror symmetry). In absolute value scheme, each of RGB value can be expressed as follows. R=λw|Vx|, G=λw|Vy|, B=λw|Vz|, where (Vx, Vy, Vz) is eigenvector corresponding to the largest eigenvalue of diffusion tensor. With applying full symmetry or absolute value scheme, we can get more continuous color coding at the expense of coding same color for symmetric direction. For better visualization of fiber tract directions, Gamma and brightness correction had done. All of these implementations were done on the IDL 5.4 platform.

  • If a dangerous situation arises in a place where out of reach from the human, UAVs can be used to determine the size and location of the situation to reduce the further damage. With this in mind, this paper sets the minimum value of the roll, pitch, and yaw using beta flight to detect the UAV's smooth hovering, integration, and derivative (PID) values to ensure that the UAV stays horizontal, minimizing errors for safe hovering, and the camera uses Open CV to install the Raspberry Pi program and then HSV (color, saturation, Brightness) using the color palette, the filter is black and white except for the red color, which is the closest to the fire we want, so that the UAV detects the image in the air in real time. Finally, it was confirmed that hovering was possible at a height of 0.5 to 5m, and red color recognition was possible at a distance of 5cm and at a distance of 5m.

  • In this study, we implemented the emotional light controlling system by using the wheel interface built in the smart-watch devices. Most previous light controlling systems have been adopted the direct switches or smart-phone applications for presenting individual emotion in lighting systems. However, in order to control color properties, these studies have some complicated user-interfaces in systems and limitation to present various color spectrums. Therefore, we need to user-friendly interfaces and functions for controlling properties of the lightning systems such as color, tone, color temperature, brightness, and saturation in detail with the wheel interface built in the smart-watch devices. The system proposed in the study is given to choose the user's selecting the emotional status information for providing the emotional lights. The selectable emotional status such as "stable", "surprise", "tired", "angry", etc. can be among 11 kinds of emotional states. In addition, the designed system processed the user's information such as user's emotional status information, local time, location information.

  • As a result of reducing color information and edge information, object distinction in haze image occurs with difficulty. One of the famous defogging algorithm is haze removal by using 'Dark Channel Prior(DCP)', which is used to predict for transmission rate using color information of an image and eliminates haze from the image. But, In case that haze rate is estimated under color information, there is a miscalculated issue which is posed by haze rate and transmission in area with high brightness such as a white object or a light source. In this paper, We deal with a miscalculated issue by correcting from around haze rate, after application of color normalization used by main white part of image haze. Moreover, We calculation improved transmission based on the result of improved haze rate estimation. And then haze image quality is developed through refining transmission.

QUALITY OF KOREAN GINSENG DRIED WITH A PROTOTYPE CONTINUOUS FLOW DRYER USING FAR INFRARED RAY AND HEATED-AIR

  • This study was performed to examine the effects of infrared (IR)/heated-air combination drying on some quality attributes of Korean white ginsengs. Ginseng roots were dried in a dryer where both the far infrared ray and heated-air are available as drying energy sources. Diametral shrinkage, external color, total saponin content, and ginsenosides and free sugar composition of the IR/heated-air combination dried ginsengs were measured and compared with those of commercial white ginseng products. The external color became lower in lightness and higher in saturation as the IR radiating plate temperature increased. IR/heated-air combination dried white ginsengs at IR plate temperature of 100$^{\circ}C$ was comparable to the commercial white ginseng products in color characteristics. Diametral shrinkage ratios ranged from 20 to 36% and appeared to be independent on the different drying methods. No definite evidence could be found whether the IR/heated-air combination drying and the conventional. hot-air drying practice resulted in white ginsengs having different ginsenoside contents and compositions. No conclusion could be made on whether the various drying treatments used in the study had effects on the free sugar contents and compositions of white ginsengs.
