Edge detection considers the important technical details of digital image processing. Many edge detection operators already perform edge detection in digital color imaging. In this study, the edge of many real color images that represent the type of digital image was detected using a new operator in the least square approximation method, which is a type of numerical method. The Linear Fitting algorithm is computationally more expensive compared to the Canny, LoG, Sobel, Prewitt, HIS, Fuzzy, Parametric, Synthetic and Vector methods, and Robert' operators. The results showed that the new method can detect an edge in a digital color image with high efficiency compared to standard methods used for edge detection. In addition, the suggested operator is very useful for detecting the edge in a digital color image.

Color image edge detection is an important operation in many image processing areas. This paper presents a new method for edge detection based on the Bhattacharyya distance that can handle arbitrary boundaries by exploring several edge patterns. Experiments show promising results compared to some existing methods.
The performance of edge detection often relies on its ability to correctly determine the dissimilarities of connected pixels. For grayscale images, the dissimilarity of two pixels is estimated by a scalar difference of their intensities and for color images, this is done by using the vector difference (color distance) of the three-color components. The Euclidean distance in the RGB color space typically measures a color distance. However, the RGB space is not suitable for edge detection since its color components do not coincide with the information human perception uses to separate objects from backgrounds. In this paper, we propose a novel method for color edge detection by taking advantage of the HSV color space and the Mahalanobis distance. The HSV space models colors in a manner similar to human perception. The Mahalanobis distance independently considers the hue, saturation, and lightness and gives them different degrees of contribution for the measurement of color distances. Therefore, our method is robust against the change of lightness as compared to previous approaches. Furthermore, we will introduce a noise-resistant technique for determining image gradients. Various experiments on simulated and real-world images show that our approach outperforms several existing methods, especially when the images vary in lightness or are corrupted by noise.
An important issue in the field of face recognitions and man-machine interfaces is an automatic detection of faces in visual scenes. it should be computationally fast enough to allow an online detection. In this paper we describe our ongoing work on face detection that models the face appearance by edge orientation and color distribution. We show that edge orientation is a powerful feature to describe objects like faces. We present a method for face region detection using edge orientation and a method for face feature detection using local color information. We demonstrate the capability of our detection method on an image database of 1877 images taken from more than 700 people. The variations in head size, lighting and background are considerable, and all images are taken using low-end cameras. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme achieves 94% detection rate with a resonable amount of computation time.

This paper discusses an approach for detecting a new edge in color images. The color image is to be represented by a vector field, and the color image edges are detected as differences in the local vector statistics. This method is based on the calculation for the vector angle between two adjacent pixels. Unlike Euclidean distance in RGB space, the vector angle distinguishes the differences in chromaticity, independent of luminance or intensity. The proposed approach can easily accommodate concepts, such as variable template edge detection, as well as the latest developments in vector order statistics for color image processing. In this paper, it is used not a conventional fixed template operator but a variable template operator The variable template is implemented and experimental results for digital color images are included.

Recent advancements in camera communication (CamCom) technology using visible light exploited to use display as an luminance source to modulate the data for visible light data communication. The existing display-CamCom techniques uses the selected region of interest based camera capturing approach to detect and decode the 2D color coded data on display screen. This is not effective way to do communicate when the user on mobility. This paper propose the automatic display detection using Lambertian color segmentation combined with canny edge detection algorithms for CamCom in order to avoid manual region of interest selection to establish communication link between display and camera. The automatic display detection methods fails using conventional edge detection algorithms when content changes dynamically in displays. In order to solve this problem lambertian color segmentation combined with canny edge detection algorithms are proposed to detect display automatically. This research analysed different algorithms on display edge recognition and measured the performance on rendering dynamically changing content with color code on display. The display detection rate is achieved around 96% using this proposed solutions.

Art psychotherapy is widely accepted as an effective tool for diagnosis and treatment of psychological disorders. Important factors for art psychotherapy diagnosis, based on the projection theory that the world of the inner mind appears in drawings, include main color and imbalance of a drawing. This paper develops a system for a machine to determine the main color and the imbalance of a drawing by color recognition and edge detection. Our proposed color recognition procedure adopts NBS(National Bureau of Standards) distance between colors in HVC(Hue, Value, Chroma) color space which is most similar to the human eye's color perception. Our edge detection procedure applies blurring, clustering and transformation to a standard color in a series. Our system considers the numbers of pixels and clusters for each color as a criterion for main color and the frequency of edge coordinates for each region for imbalance. The proposed machine procedure, verified through case studies, can help overcome the subjectivity, ambiguity and uncertainty in human decision involved in art psychotherapy.
This paper presents the analyses of the effect of inserting border lines between different color regions on edge detection in color codes, and is not intended to present any new algorithm for color-code recognition. With its role to complement the RFID (radio frequency identification) and the wide and fast spread of digital cameras, an interest on color codes is fast increasing. However, the severe distortion of colors in obtained images prohibits color codes from expanding their applications. To reduce the effect of color distortion it is desirable to process the whole pixels in each color region statistically, instead of relying on some pixels sampled from the region. This requires segmentation, and the segmentation usually requires edge detection. To help detect edges not disconnected, we inserted border lines of the width of two pixels between adjacent color regions. Two colors were used for the border lines: one consisting of white pixels, and the other black pixels. The edge detection was performed on images with either of the two kinds of border lines inserted, and the results were compared to results without inserted border lines. We found that inserting black border lines degraded edge detection by causing zipper effect while inserting white border lines improved it compared to the cases without inserted border lines.

This paper presents a new edge detection algorithm in color image. The proposed Adaptive morphological Wavelet-CNN algorithm is divided into two parts : The Adaptive morpholog and WCNN(Wavelet Cellular Neural Networks). It detects the optimal edge with applying this color image to WCNN algorithm, after it does level up a boundary side of a color image by using the adaptive morphology as the threshold of an input color image. Also, it is used not a conventional fixed mask edge detection method but variable mask method which is called a variable BBM. Finally, to show the feasibility of the proposed algorithm, this paper provides by simulation that the color image consists of 30.
Compared to the bar code which is being widely used for commercial products management, color code is advantageous in both the outlook and the number of combinations. And the color code has application areas complement to the RFID's. However, due to the severe distortion of the color component values, which is easily over $50{\%}$ of the scale, color codes have difficulty in finding applications in the industry. To improve the accuracy of recognition of color codes, it'd better to statistically process an entire color region and then determine its color than to process some samples selected from the region. For this purpose, we suggest a technique to detect edges between color regions in this paper, which is indispensable for an accurate segmentation of color regions. We first transformed RGB color image to HSI and YIQ color models, and then extracted I- and Y-components from them, respectively. Then we performed Canny edge detection on each component image. Each edge image usually had some edges missing. However, since the resulting edge images were complementary, we could obtain an optimal edge image by combining them.
