Development of High-Definition PDP TV with High-Efficient Hexagonal Array Structure

  • Optimization of the luminance, luminous efficiency, and address voltage margin characteristics has been made on the delta color array PDP with various hexagonal shape subpixels. The optimal subpixel and electrode designs are obtained for the 42-inch high-definition PDP ($1,366{\times}768$) with the fine pixel pitch less than 0.7 mm. The hexagonal delta array structure shows more improved characteristics than that of the normal delta array structure with rectangular shape subpixels.

  • Design and manufacturing process of a full color LED microdislay fabricated by standard CMOS technology and containing an array of aluminum / nanostructured porous silicon reverse biased light emitting Schottky diodes will be discussed. Being of a solid state construction, this microdisplays are cost-effective, thin and light in weight due to very simple device architecture. Its benefits include also super high resolution, wide viewing angles, fast response time and wide operating temperature range. The advantages of full integration of an LED-array and driving circuitry onto a Si-chip will be also discussed.

  • Infrared (IR) seeker identifies the location of a target by detecting the infrared energy radiated from the target, and enables the missile to track the target. To improve the tracking performance, a counter- countermeasure (CCM) is essential to minimize the effect of the countermeasure (CM), which is operated by a target to protect itself. In this paper, we propose a crossed array tracker (CAT) using two-color CCM algorithm. The CAT using the proposed algorithm shows better tracking performance by minimizing the effect of CM.

  • The purpose of this paper is to propose ways to remove false color noise (FCN) generated during de-mosaicing on RGB Bayer pattern images. In case of images sensors adapting Bayer pattern color filters array (CFA), de-mosaicing is conducted to recover the RGB color data in single pixels. Here, FCN phenomena would occur where there is clearer silhouette or contrast of colors. The FCN phenomena found during de-mosaicking process appears locally in the edges inside the image and the proposed method of eliminating this is to convert RGB color space to YCbCr space to conduct smoothing process. Moreover, for edges where different colors come together, censoring based smoothing technique is proposed as a way to minimize color blurring effect.

  • 본 논문은 그레이 영상을 컬러영상으로 변환하고 컬러농도를 변환하여 출력영상을 향상시킨 연구이다. RGB 컬러성분을 추출하기 위한 의사컬러링은 2D고속웨이브릿 변환(FWT)에 의한 필터뱅크 재배열을 적용하고 후처리에서 각각의 모노컬러는 노이즈제거와 영상향상을 위해 이산 컬러농도변환(CIT)을 적용한다. 실험결과 출력영상은 일반 웨이블릿 변환 적용보다 PSNR 30dB이상 개선된다.

  • The purpose of this research is to enhance the luminance of the LED and to improve the implementation of color by mounting an array lens on the LED without special technology in process. The workmanship of key components considering the economical efficiency and the injection molding technology for high quality of the product are essential to achieve it. In this paper, the mold was computer-aided was designed and manufactured by CAM software (NX4) and high speed machining center. the applied final machining conditions were 3,000-5,000mm/min feed speed, 15,000-25,000rpm and ${\Phi}0.3mm$ ball end-mill. And the Flow analysis was performed using the mold flow software(MPI) in order to get uniformity of resin. Injection conditions acquired by the flow analysis and the injection experiment are as follows. The cylinder temperature is $220-260^{\circ}C$, the mold temperature is $70-80^{\circ}C$, the injection time is about 1.2sec, the injection pressure and velocity is each 7.8-14.7Mpa, and the injection velocity is 0.8-1.2m/sec.

디모자이킹을 위한 Wiener Filter 기반의 디노이징 알고리듬 (Wiener Filter Based Denoising Algorithm for Demosaicking)

  • 다지털 카메라의 mosaicked image는 Bayer CFA 등의 센서를 통해 획득되며 full resolution의 컬러 영상을 얻기 위해서는 demosaicking이라는 과정이 요구된다. 그러나 시그널이 센서를 통과할 때 noise가 더해지게 되기 때문에 이를 제거하기 위한 denoising process는 demosaicking 과정 전단에 반드시 고려되어야 하는 것이다. 본 논문에서는 demosaicking과 denoising을 분석하고 효율적으로 noise를 제거하는 방식을 제안한다. 제안된 알고리듬은 noiseless CFA에서 얻어지는 필터를 수정함으로서 얻어지며, 낮은 연산량과 함께 만족할만한 성능을 보여준다. CPSNR, SCIELAB, FSIM로 대표되는 화질 측정 방식들은 제안하는 알고리듬이 다양한 레벨의 noise를 효율적으로 제거한다는 것을 보여준다.

색채 조화이론을 통해 본 산복도로 르네상스마을 조형성 분석 (Aesthetic Factors of Color Combinations in Hillside Renaissance Villages - An Analysis based on Color Harmony Theory -)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the aesthetic factors in color combinations of house exteriors in hillside villages, Busan. The so-called 'Hillside renaissance' is a representative urban regeneration project in Busan. The towns in hillside area in Busan have developed colorful sceneries. But all the colorful sceneries are not the same. Each town has own color characters and different aesthetic color effects. This study is to determine the unique aesthetic components in color combination of Gamcheon and Daecheong. This study is based on the traditional color harmony theories. The analysis focuses, inter alia, on Moon-Spencer's 'Aesthetic Measure'. A house exterior color has relations with two neighboring colors in array. And those three colors with next two houses have again each three hue, value and chroma relations. This analysis is first to determine whether each sample color combination is harmonized, and if harmonized, next step to list which aesthetic factor is dominantly contributing to color harmony. And at last, to study the subcategorized sectors of each color components of the hue, value and chroma.

Color Image Enhancement Based on Adaptive Nonlinear Curves of Luminance Features

  • This paper proposes an image-dependent color image enhancement method that uses adaptive luminance enhancement and color emphasis. It effectively enhances details of low-light regions while maintaining well-balanced luminance and color information. To compare the structure similarity and naturalness, we used the tone mapped image quality index (TMQI). The proposed method maintained better structure similarity in the enhanced image than did the space-variant luminance map (SVLM) method or the adaptive and integrated neighborhood dependent approach for nonlinear enhancement (AINDANE). The proposed method required the smallest computation time among the three algorithms. The proposed method can be easily implemented using the field-programmable gate array (FPGA), with low hardware resources and with better performance in terms of similarity.

Hardware Digital Color Enhancement for Color Vision Deficiencies

  • Up to 10% of the global population suffers from color vision deficiency (CVD) [1], especially deuteranomaly and protanomaly, the conditions in which it is difficult to discriminate between red and green hues. For those who suffer from CVD, their career fields are restricted, and their childhood education is frustrating. There are many optical eye glasses on the market to compensate for this disability. However, although they are attractive due to their light weight, wearing these glasses will decrease visual brightness and cause problems at night. Therefore, this paper presents a supplementary device that comprises a head-mounted display and an image sensor. With the aid of the image processing technique of digital color space adjustment implemented in a high-speed field-programmable gate array device, the users can enjoy enhanced vision through the display without any decrease in brightness.
