A case of rectal prolapses in a one-year-old intact male mixed-breed dog, weighing 6.8 kg was presented with one-week history of protruded tubular pink mass through the anus along with mucosal necrosis. The prolapse was non-reducible, so rectal amputation and anal purse-string suture was performed. Prolapse recurred 9 days after the surgery, purse-string suture and conservative treatment were attempted with no-good results. Laparoscopic-assisted incisional colopexy technique was applied to treat the recurrent rectal prolapse, but failed 6 days after surgery. This was followed by non-incisional colopexy technique, which prevented recurrence during the 3 months of follow-up period. Despite the episode of recurrence, the laparoscopic-assisted colopexy technique treated rectal prolapse successfully. This is the first report in Korea, which describes laparoscopic-assisted colopexy in the dog.

An 11 year-old intact female Yorkshire Terrier weighing 3.5 kg was presented with the complain of having a perineal mass, fecal incontinence and tenesmus. Physical examination revealed reducible bilateral ventral perineal mass, enlarged mammary gland and vaginal discharge. Bilateral ventral perineal hernia (BVPH) and pyometra were diagnosed based on the clinical and radiographic findings. Ovariohysterectomy was performed after general anaesthesia to treat pyometra. The BVPH was repaired by herniorrhaphy with semitendinosus muscle transposition along with colopexy and cystopexy. The postoperative radiographs and CT revealed a good correction of the BVPH. The patient showed good activity after 10 days and no complications were observed during a one year follow up period. BVPH can be successfully surgically managed by herniorrhaphy with semitendinosus muscle transposition along with cystopexy and colopexy in the dog.

A 5-year-old male Laika dog was referred with chief complaint of dyschezia and tenesmus. The dog had rectal prolapse and it was corrected with rectal resection and anastomosis, a year ago. On rectal examination, the stricture of rectum was identified. The irregular scar tissues on serosal and muscular layers of rectum were noted and they were dispersed with partial thickness incision around rectum. Then, the colopexy and mechanical dilation with balloon catheter were applied. No recurrence of rectal prolapse and other complications were noted during follow up periods of 1 year. This report described a successfully corrected anastomotic rectal stricture in a dog.
